What did you like most about uh your team’s performance here tonight? Uh just the overall effort defensively, flying around. Um just doing our best to rotate, contest. Uh the zone was effective in the second half. Uh but I really thought it was a consistent effort throughout the night. So awesome team win, a bunch of different people in different segments of the game, you know, had moments. Tim in the first half obviously was unbelievable the way he shot the ball. uh Spencer throughout the night, uh Payton’s defense, uh you just had so many guys, Bruce with 10 assists, just a lot of guys that uh just made an impact in a game that we needed on a tough backto-back. Can you just talk about Bruce Brown playing the point for you with the second unit and what you thought of that or was that like a conscious decision, hey, we’re going to try this tonight? Yeah, I mean, he’s been doing it uh throughout the year. It’s it’s basically ma, you know, around matchups and who can get the ball up the court. Uh, so getting Cam off the the ball, getting Jamal off the ball, um, letting Yonas be a screener and Bruce taking that responsibility on was a big deal. Uh, it allowed our offensive players to start flat on the baseline and be, you know, active cutters. Uh, and they they became the facilitator. Then Bruce late in the clock, made some really nice plays, pocket passes to Yonas, uh, and sprayed other people for threes. So, it was, uh, that unit was really good in the fourth quarter. Uh they I thought they played a really strong eight minutes and we had to sub a little bit um just to make sure we finished the thing out with some tire bodies and again better but still 23 points off turnovers. You cut you cut those down but in half maybe you know it’s really blow out the whole whole second half. Yeah, I know. We have to you know we have to do better with that. I thought their activity was pretty impressive. That’s what they’ve been doing to people you know over the last I think it’s 11 games 12 games now. Uh so yeah, we have to sh up the passing. A lot of it is entry passes. You know, it’s um trying to get the ball to the elbow or you know, just off the elbow with some of the ahead or pistol actions. Uh we just have to be stronger, I think, not just as passers, but as guys getting themselves open. And if that takes an offensive foul every now and then to show that you’re going to be physical to catch the ball, it helps our offense. And so to your point, you know, to score one, you know, 36 and then 130 and have 34 turnovers in those games is crazy. Uh the fact that you didn’t shoot the ball 34 times and on top of that, they some of those were live ball turnovers end up in dunks, which we talked about the other night before the Spurs game. So, it’s a, you know, it’s a point of contention for us, something we have to keep getting better at. But I’ll take the 36 assists and we obviously shot the leather off the ball uh tonight. You you’ve seen Joker do so many things. Some people might pick up the stat sheet say, “Oh, just 26 points.” You know, he get 26. He took seven shots, right? And he got 26 points. I I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a number like that, right? And I, you know, it was good to see him get to the free throw line, uh, which hasn’t been a consistent theme. Uh, and I and I’ll tell you another thing on Nola, 10 assists, but the way they guarded him, uh, fronting him, bringing a secondary defender over, sometimes a third defender over, that leads to wide open shots. And for us to make 22 threes, there’s going to be nights we have to do that. There’s going to be nights where you say, “Get him the ball.” But if three people are guarding him, that’s tough. But somebody else is wide open. And I thought we did a good job tonight moving it, and the 36 assists obviously says that. Uh, so sometimes you have to take advantage of what the defensive coverages are. We’ll see a lot of that. Uh, and it was nice to have some shooting lineups out there. Guys got hot. You mentioned Spencer also a while ago. Just just kind of happy as a coach. Yeah. A guy who’s a two-way player coming in. You thrust him in the starting lineup, then he slowly slowly just seems to get better and better. Yeah. And I think the shooting uh we talked about this, it’s it’s there. I mean, what he shot in the G-League says a lot on a lot of attempts. Uh, so I just think the more he plays, the more he feels the minutes of having to guard and rebound like he’s doing right now, which is his main responsibility. I think the shooting will follow. And I love the four offensive rebounds. He crashed the glass like crazy. Gave us extra chances. And obviously, like you said, just his com his comfortability, you know, just shooting the ball, playing with us, and not feeling pressure when the ball finds him and he’s open. We trust him to make shots and he did tonight. Thanks, guys. Just all over the place. uh uh tonight. Um talk about how good you feel out there. You put energy everywhere on this court. Yeah, I know. I mean, it’s great uh just to get um you know, more and more trust from from the guys from Yoke, from Maul. Uh the more I play with them and everything like that, get you know, more comfortable offensively because I mean, you know, everybody knows defensive reason I’m out there. But now I can, you know, now they got the trust build out the game a little bit like that. And then the biggest thing is, you know, look, teams don’t know I can shoot so they’re sagging off and that’s that can stall our offense a little bit. So a game like this will really, you know, where I can uh damage them when they do that. It’ll only bode well for us for the future. Yeah. Talk about that process, the getting more comfortable. I mean, the guys have played together a lot, you know, and then um but what has that been like for you? Yeah, I mean, look, a lot of these guys have played together for a long time and so like they have kind of their own way of communicating and things like that that I have to be thrusted in and kind of learned on the fly and and and figure out and it’s been great. I mean, I love the learning experience and, you know, to learn from these guys. I mean, they’re the best most unselfish guys. We’re the most unselfish team in the world. So, it’s like it’s it’s great to learn from them. So yeah, slowly you, you know, get chemistry, figure out where they want you to be, when to cut, when not to cut, and everything like that. And so just figuring out how to, you know, flow within the offense. Defensively, you guys gave, I think, what just won 112 tonight. Um, a really good effort. Obviously, after what what what cleaned up from last night to tonight? Uh, for us, it was uh being more aggressive. uh DA was really telling us that we thought last night we were a little bit passive with our coverages and everything like that, letting letting teams attack us and determine how we rotate and everything that this this time we were much uh much more up to the up to the screen and forcing guys, you know, into positions they don’t want to want to be in and we were just as a team just much more aggressive. So, it was made a lot a lot easier on the backside help for the defense and everything like that. Looked like you guys kind of gained control over the course of the game. you know, they played very physical, but a little bit over the course of the game it backed off a little bit. Um, what do you attribute that to? That was just I mean, you know, wear and tear. I mean, like look, they tried to do it the whole game and, you know, eventually that’ll that’ll wear on you, especially a team like us who’s, you know, despite the physicality, we’re still getting the shots we want. We’re make we’re making them and that can deflate them a little bit and you definitely saw that towards the end. It was a little bit of fatigue and a little bit of like look, you know, you play physical play. Um, I’ve, you know, I’ve been in the other other end of that where you, you know, play 20 great seconds of great defense and then the last four seconds to make a shot and so be a little deflated and you saw that a little bit. Appreciate you, man.
