AMAZING OG Anunoby Injury Update! Mikal Bridges Defense CHANGING The Knicks | New York Knicks News
We have an amazing update about OG Anobi and his injury status and the Knicks win again. And Mikuel Bridges was a major reason why he locked up Brandon Ingram like he was in an Acon video. We’re going to break down all of these latest reports today. This episode is presented by FanDuel. We have a goal of trying to reach 40,000 subscribers and we could really use your support. If you enjoy Daily Nicks content, please hit that subscribe button. And now, let’s get started. OG Anobi injury update. Before we get to the game, let’s talk about the good news regarding OG Aninobi and his hamstring injury. While he’s not going to be returning within the week, he’s already taking controlled contact, and the results already look good. Shout out to NBA insider Ian Begley and Christian Winfield for giving us this following information. According to them, OG Anobi is doing controlled oncourt work and is scrimmaging threeon-ree. Seems like a good sign for the Knicks that Anobi has been cleared to take contact, even if it’s in a controlled threeon-ree setting. There are levels to contact in these scrimmages. One of the last hurdles is often full contact in five on five scrimmages. Mike Brown said OG Anobi working on court is a good step in the process. He’s being monitored daily by the New York Knicks medical staff and training staff. As long as everything continues to go well, I’m sure he’ll do more and his levels of contact will increase. According to Christian Winfield, Mike Brown says there’s no update on when exactly OG Anobi can return to the court and says he’s not yet cleared for full contact. He’s doing controlled court work with threeon-ree scrimmaging. Mike Brown states the following. He’s doing some oncourt work and we’re continuing to monitor him. We are not going to rush him back. And shout out to Ian Begley for giving us this final update about OG Anobi. If OG Anobi’s rehab continues to progress well, it sounds like he’ll be back on the court before the end of the calendar year. Anobi will obviously return to the starting lineup whenever he’s ready to play. Before the end of the calendar year. That to me sounds like OG Anobi could return by Christmas. And Anobi returning on Christmas. What a gift that I will not refuse. I cannot wait to see a fully healthy OG Aninoi return to the court. Specifically because I want to see the defense with him and Muel Bridges on the floor at the exact same time. because this version of Mikuel Bridges is absolutely on another level. And last night we saw that defense on full display from Mikuel Bridges who played phenomenal basketball and help the Knicks get this victory over the Toronto Raptors. As you can see here, the Knicks blow out the Toronto Raptors, a team they will see next week in the NBA Cup quarterfinals 116 to 94. And shout out to channel sponsor FanDuel, America’s number one sports book, for giving us these updated odds on who was supposed to win the game last night between the Knicks and the Raptors. And as you can see with the money line, the New York Knicks they were at minus 280 while the Raptors they were at plus 230. So once again FanDuel called it correctly. They believed the Knicks were going to win this game and they did. New York improves to 10-1 at MSG. That’s right. We have a 10 and one record at home. That’s what you call protecting home court. And the New York Knicks, they’re doing that very well this season. But let’s continue. New York improves to 10-1 at MSG with this win over the Toronto Raptors, who were playing the second game of a backto back. New York was plus 11 on the offensive glass. Mitchell Robinson himself had seven offensive rebounds. Another strong night for Josh Hart who had 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. And Brandon Ingram struggled all night long. He was four of 11 from the field. He had five turnovers and was defended well, most often by Mikuel Bridges. Before we get to Mikuel Bridges, I just have to say this about Josh Hart really quickly. This man can never go back to the bench. He can never play on the bench for the Knicks anymore during this season. Look at his impact as a starter. Look at his numbers. Look at his defense, his activity, his effort level. Everything is better about Josh Hart when he starts for New York. Once OG Anobi is fully healthy and he can return to the lineup, it’s clear Josh Hart, he needs to stay a starter. Anobi needs to join him and Deuce McBride and Mitchell Robinson need to play off the bench because looking at the impact Josh Hart has as a starter, you can’t deny it. You can’t ignore it. you have to embrace it and make sure he starts each and every game, especially if the matchups actually support it. But getting back to Mikuel Bridges, and shout out to Ian Begley for giving us this following information, Mikuel Bridges had two steals and two blocks against Toronto last night. It was his NBA leading seventh game with at least two blocks and two steals this season. He had Brandon Ingram in jail. In jail all night long, locked up. They won’t let him out. Who? Who won’t they let out? Brandon Ingram because he was in jail. In jail courtesy of Mikuel Bridges. Now I’ll give it to Ingram because it wasn’t like that for the entire night. Mikuel Bridges actually picked up three quick fouls against Brandon Ingram because during certain moments he was playing him extremely aggressively while he was defending him inside the paint. And when Ingram was seeing this, he leaned into the contact, got the call, and he was at the line. Mikuel Bridges though, he is such a smart defender and every time he gets burned on something, he learns from that moment. And he did that last night against Brandon Ingram. And in that second half, he made Ingram’s life a living hell. Every time he had the ball in his hand, he would either deflect the ball off of him, steal the ball off of him, or make it so hard on defense that Ingram really couldn’t get a good shot. And let’s not get it twisted this season for the Raptors. Brandon Ingram is him. He is having a great year. But last night against the Knicks, you would have never guessed that because Mikuel Bridges once again had him in jail. Josh Hart when he switched on Ingram, he was making his life even worse on defense. And you have to love that. New York, their help defense, how they were playing together, moving the ball. This is how they beat down the Raptors and made it a blowout victory. And while it wasn’t only Mikuel Bridges that led the Knicks to this victory, he was a major reason why. And if we look at the quarterto quarter breakdown, really, it makes you frustrated when you’re watching this game to start off. Because that first quarter, it looks like the Knicks are actually going to blow this one out starting off early, but that really doesn’t happen, does it? Because New York, they handle business in that first quarter. They go up by 24 points. They were hitting everything that they were throwing up, including threes, three after three after three. Shout out to Deuce McBride who has been on a heater for the last few games. McBride cannot miss from three. But uh what happened in that second quarter? Oh yeah, I I remember open three Scotty Barnes. Three Scotty Barnes. Wait for it. Move this shot here. Oh yeah. Three Scotty Barnes. They roll off nine straight points. Then they get an easy basket inside, an easy cut inside, and then that 24-point lead, poof, it’s gone. The Raptors, they get back into the game. And New York is only leading by single digits going into halftime. But in that third quarter, when the game was going back to the Raptor side, they were gaining momentum. Emanuel quickly hitting shot after shot, reminding everyone what he used to do at MSG. The New York Knicks did not let it happen. And this is another reason that I am advocating for Josh Hart to remain a starter. You guys remember what happened, right? Six-point game in that third quarter and then Josh Hart proceeds to hit backto back threes. Then New York finds Mikuel Bridges inside for an easy shot. Don’t look now, but the Knicks are on an 11 to0 run. Nothing being answered by the Raptors. They’re up 16 points. And then going into that fourth quarter, they just cruise with the lead. They make sure they never let it get out of reach. They stack even more points on top of this lead and they make sure the Raptors cannot get a clean look. And even when the Raptors do get a clean look, they cannot convert. They cannot hit anything. And Scotty Barnes, who was on fire to start that second quarter, he starts to miss every single one of his open threes in that second half. They can’t do anything. New York shuts them down in transition. And that’s the game. New York blows them out. We’re talking about another victory. And the Knicks have a game they can point to next week when they take on the Raptors again in the NBA Cup quarterfinals that can give them confidence. Look guys, we just beat them down and blew them out. They may remember that. They may be ready, but we need to be ready, too. And we need to remember if we come to games locked in, especially defensively, especially the way the Knicks looked last night, if they can do that consistently for 48 minutes, New York will be advancing in that NBA Cup game. And last night gave them so much confidence to believe that. Now, it’s time to break down the team stats. Like we always do, we’re going to look at only a few team stats that I believe helped the Knicks win this game. And the first one, number one on this list, and we need to start with it. Rebounding. My goodness, New York destroyed the Raptors on the boards 61- 40 on the offensive rebounding end. The Knicks had 25 offensive rebounds to Toronto’s 14. Let me explain to you guys why that is so crazy, why that is so insane. Mitchell Robinson by himself had seven offensive rebounds, half of what Toronto had as a team. The Knicks are destroying teams on the boards. And if they’re able to do that, play the defense we saw them play last night, and then you pair that with the shooting that we saw, it’s very difficult to beat the Knicks. 36% shooting from three is not a great number. 40% 41%. Now we’re talking. And the Knicks, they can definitely get to that number. Last night they didn’t, but honestly they didn’t have to because they found a way to blow out the Raptors in every other way. And as you can see, they made 16 of them and they attempted 45. The Raptors only made 30% of their threes. They attempted 37 of them and only made 11. The Knicks team assists are high once again. It’s not at that 30 plus number that I would like to see it at, but 27 26 28 assists as a team and you’re doing it while you’re blowing out the other team. I’m really not going to complain. But I think we saw it last night. Even though the Knicks were moving the ball, there were moments that they were playing a lot more isolation basketball. And if they moved the ball in those key moments, these assist numbers would be a lot higher. I don’t think I would be recapped if I loved everything and had no issue at all. So, with that in mind, let’s talk about one issue that I did see last night, specifically against the Raptors that really we probably shouldn’t have seen. And it was the Knicks issues in transition defense. The Raptors on everything, make, miss, rebound, no matter what. They want to run. They want to move the ball. They want to score in transition and last night they were doing that against the Knicks more in that first half, less in that second half, but it was still happening. I’m glad the Knicks were able to adjust when they saw a problem exist or pop up. That’s a good thing. However, going into the game, the game plan should have been to stop that because the Raptors, they’re one of the best teams in the league in scoring in transition. And if New York knows that and their game planning for the Raptors, you need to take that into account and make sure you stop it before it becomes a problem. It became a problem and then the Knicks had to stop it. I wish New York knew off the bat not to allow this from the Raptors because if they do that, they’re going to get into a groove and likely get back into the game. What happened? They got into a groove and got back into the game. New York was able to blow them out anyways, but it’s something to look at if you’re Mike Brown during film session. OG Anobi returning soon. Mikuel Bridges playing out of his mind. Likely going to receive many votes for defensive player of the year. If he doesn’t, it’s a robbery. It would be a travesty. This man’s defense is on another level. And I mean the play of Josh Hart. What do you say? What do you say? The man is a starter. Do not bench him or put him on the bench once we’re fully healthy because it doesn’t make sense. The impact, the effort, the activity level, it’s all over here. When he was on the bench, it was good, but it was over here. And I don’t know about you guys, but I would much rather see Josh Hart operate on this level than this level. And Mike Brown, I think he feels the exact same way. I can’t wait till the New York Knicks are fully healthy and see what they’re going to do against other teams. Right now, they are blowing out very good teams. The Raptors, they’re not a bad team. They have been playing phenomenal basketball during this season, but when they face the Knicks, you saw the level of difference, New York and the Raptors. There are levels to this. And New York proved last night, even without one of their best defenders in OG Anobi, New York showed everybody there are levels to this. And the Knicks, they are levels above the Raptors even right now. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks blowing out the Toronto Raptors 116 to 94? Let me know how you feel about that in the comment section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. We have an amazing update on OG Anunoby and his return from injury! The Knicks also added another win to the W column thanks to their amazing defense throughout the game. Josh Hart starting continues to look like one of the best changes Mike Brown has made but the play of Mikal Bridges… UNBELIEVABLE. He’s operating on another level right now defensively and that same defense not only helped the Knicks win the game, who LOCKED UP Raptors star Brandon Ingram in the process… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

Go Knicks
KAT was even having an off night and still put up 22 pts and 8 rebounds! I get frustrated sometimes watching him but i know he's just working into his groove KAT is still a very important piece to this team and people jumping to trade him just lack patience
Let's not forget the blockness monster!! 15 boards 2 steals 3 blocks in 16 minutes. Keep up the grind OG can't wait to see the silent predator back in action.
Let's go Knicks!!
Good news that we have to wait another month for OG? If he's taking contact now why should it take more than 2 weeks from now?
I’m still putting hart to the bench so he can run the second unit. Mcbride ain’t got the leadership in him but he started lights out last night. Shot the ball like a king
The thing about the Knicks lineup or lineups they have multiple players that can be hot on any given night that's what makes them so dangerous
Just Hyped your video my good man 😊❤Peace and Love Troy ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘
Start your best players ❤❤😊😊
These Mitchell minutes are so efficient. Mikal’s defense is now looking like what we wanted during the trade. Hart is doing everything. But we do need to look into that 3-pointer defense. I’m liking those Tyler minutes too, though I want him to shoot more when he gets the chance to get his confidence up a bit.
Josh can’t start. Who’s gonna sit? Mitch, og, or bridges?
This defense could be way better with the addition of one wing no less than
6’8/6’9 would limit that free
For all shooting 3’s on us at
A high clip.
I guess Harts finger is just fine😭😭.
I 100% agree with Troy, Josh Hart got to be a starter even when OG comes back. Mitch and McBride on the bench. The impact Josh brings is insane. This year is Josh Harts best defensive year. I hope he keeps it up.
Kolek is good but still slacks some things. Even Clyde said it while commentating saying don’t pick up your dribble early, got to be a threat. Which is fax. Kolek is definitely a floor general, but always has to know to score when he could and not be scared. If Kolek could just avg 6-7 points per game he locks his backup pg role.
We got to know how to not become comfortable and keep a lead. Plus the Knicks got to know how to play man, that’s the reason teams be booming 3’s on us.
On point as usual Troy. In the beginning of the season I felt the NYKs were too small on the defensive end compared to other top teams (OKC, Magic, etc) but Josh Hart and Deuce have been very impressive to date. Not to mention Mikal has been on a different level as a premier lock down defender! 🟠🔵
Shout out to IQ though he was hooping miss him and Donte on the squad. Gotta give it up to them when they come to compete
Yeah Josh should start
Kat,OG,Hart,Bridges, The Captian
I would start Hart too. Hart can rebound. If Towns gets into foul trouble put in Mitch
Knicks are holding it down well without OG. Things will get lit when we're back 💯 !
I love hart and hes been great for us but going to every night I feel like deuce should be that starter he’s a knockdown shooter and he’s proven it and while Josh hart has proven it in stretches it’s different and deuce poa has helped mikal be on the wing more and be more impactful
Don’t rush OG, Hart is doing great!
Doesn’t really matter who starts, it matters who finishes.
