Sucks none of our younger d-men we’ve tried to develop have worked out yet. I love Benoit but he’s bottom pairing at best and we traded for him too.
Man it sucks that pretty much every major trade deadline acquisition of this era has not worked out. Foligno was injured then didn’t re-sign. ROR was very good but didn’t re-sign. I like Laughton but he was not a difference maker last season after being acquired, and getting a 4C is not worth a 1st round pick and Grebenkin. Carlo was good and let Rielly play better but now is a bum/injured, and so was not worth a 1st and Minten.
I know this sub is mad that Carlo hasn’t been playing well this season but I’ll go on a limb and say that I actually liked his play last playoffs. He was even paired with Mo and it helped Mo’s play too. It sucks that he’s injured now and we don’t have our 1st or Mints anymore but we don’t need to start hating on him again because we’ve only seem him play so many games for the leafs while healthy.
The move last year always should have been to bring back Luke Schenn and not overpay for Carlo, who does the same thing with less physicality. Could have hung onto both Minten and the 1st round pick. Even if Brad was focused on the big fish in Rantanen, acting early on Schenn would have left that door open. But instead he sat on his hands until every other option fell through and desperation forced his hand.
I mean, at least it’s not upper body. That guy has had so many concussions that I think the next one will take him out of the league. Sounds like maybe he tore something.
Not good for trade value. Glad we picked up Stecher

Wouldn’t it have been better to send an offer sheet to a young RFA like the Blues did instead of wasting all these picks on rentals that end up disappointing us?
I don’t know if people realize that the reason a 1st-rounder AND a prospect went to Boston is so Boston would eat part of Carlos salary. Not saying I’m a fan of the trade, but I constantly see “a 1st and Minten for this bum!”.
It should be “a 1st and Minten for this kind of INEXPENSIVE bum!”.
Anyway… hope he’s healthy soon. He was good in the playoffs
