Susan Slusser expects the giants to be involved in the trade market

  1. Oh cool, they can trade their entire farm and then some for a rental of Skubal. Awesome.

  2. Ah a foolproof strategy. “They’ll figure it out later despite not figuring it out for years”

  3. The Giants don’t really have the prospect capital to compete with offers from other teams. I don’t think they’ll be able to land the likes of Mackenzie Gore and Joe Ryan, much less Skubal and Peralta if they’re traded

  4. Ya why just spend money to get better when you can use what little prospects you have to get pitching and save money that way

  5. Yeah we can’t afford to sign a pitcher, pitchers you trade for famously don’t need to be paid

  6. They’ll get another old ass MF like Verlander that they pray will eat up innings like I can eat up dollar tacos on Tuesdays.

  7. Here we go again. Being a Giants fan is really torture. Props to Dodgers ownership and front office for putting their money where their mouth is.

  8. This shit is so frustrating. So they’re gonna trade from the already shallow pool of prospects for short term rental pitchers? Sure I’d love to get Freddy Peralta but if we aren’t willing to sign him long term, what’s the point? And if they are, go fucking get Imai and save the prospects. This schizophrenic ownership fucking sucks, like do you want to contend or do you want to just be .500? Fuck the Johnsons.

  9. Love how we’re waiving the white flag on the season 3-4 months before it starts. Incredible stuff.

  10. Trading for one good pitcher might make our rotation not worst in the league, so there’s that. Still would have 4 starters, one of which is erratic and another of which is relatively unproven and coming off of an injury.

They still don’t know that you need 6 really good starters to maybe have a contending rotation these days. If you have 2 really good starters, 3 questionable starters, and little to no depth behind them, not only are you asking for problems, but you don’t have anything close to WS upside. By all means though, let’s do the same thing we’ve done every year for the last half decade and watch it fail yet again!

  11. The ownership group has no fucking interest in competing against the Dodgers or Padres. They’re fine with another 500. season as long as the fans continue to show up and shell out. I won’t be one of them. My sports dollars are going to the Sharks. A young competitive team that committed to a true rebuild and now has one of the best young rosters in the NHL!

  12. Somewhat breakeven on the ledger and somewhat breakeven on the standings.

Somebody tell the ownership that investing in the on-field product will sell more tickets, food, drinks, parking, etc etc etc. Then the greedy fucks can charge whatever the market will bear.

However, putting a lesser product on the field and expecting fans to pay full fare is stupid. You can only sell so many tickets on feelings of tradition and nostalgia. They keep this up, the stands will be so empty and quiet that the only sounds will be the squawking seagulls wondering why the garlic fries bounty dried up.
