So much would turn around if they started rebounding the ball.
Undisciplined team with no real plan or principles. Especially on defense given all the allowed rebounds. Say what you want about Bud, but his teams ALWAYS knew what the assignment was on defense. They had a plan and executed it. Now, so many guys are out of position that it’s easy to wonder if they have any clue what they’re supposed to do. Firing Bud was the right move back then and I’m still fine with it, but I really wish we had a coach who at least had some sort of an actual plan rather than just letting the team look confused.
Interior defense was terrible too, they forgot outscored by 24 in the paint.
Doesn’t even include points in the paint (-24). I think that’s something that hasn’t been talked about enough this season. The NBA is going through a shift again where winning the 2pt game is becoming more important than it was 5 years ago. so it’s only fitting that MKE would just now buy into small-ball lineups and a heavily dependent 3pt offense.
Honestly our team makeup has been horrible for years.
Horst is good at finding skilled players.
He is bad at roster construction.
Any coach would struggle with the guards we’ve had. You can’t have 3 undersized guards and expect to rebound. You can’t trade for Lillard and not have 4 defensive savants around him. Jrue has always seemed to gel best as a SG who can fill in for a PG – unironically, Jrue and Dame would’ve been a killer lineup a decade ago.
It’s been years since we’ve had the long boi lineup and were legitimately the biggest team in the NBA. It felt like teams hated to play against us. That was one of the last times I felt like the roster construction made sense.
I’m not a fan of Doc but I really can’t think of anything he should be doing when watching games. Teams know where we suck and attack us there.
