So, could the New York Yankees be trading for Brendan Donovan this off seasonason? Well, here in the screen is a tweet on X from Fireside Yankees which says, “The New York Yankees are among a list of teams that could deal for Cardinals utility player Brendan Donovan this off season according to Mark Fein.” So, when it comes to realistic trade candidates for the Yankees this off season, Brendan Donovan definitely has to be towards the top of the list. He’s a nice blend of productivity, versatility, as well as a financially friendly player to acquire with two years remaining under team control. So, if you add all the things up together, the asking price forum will still be reasonable, but it’s also a very affordable player to get. Like, especially too with Trent Gisham opting into his or uh you know, accepting the qualifying offer. That was probably not a preferred thing from the Yankees. That’s 22 million bucks right there. Now, there’s a chance that Cody Bellinger departs the team this off seasonason. And if that’s the case, what are they going to do? Well, Brennan Donovan’s a good blend, as I mentioned before. He can play in the outfield, he can play in the infield. He is defensively versatile. And it’s kind of what this team needs in my personal opinion. A player that can sort of do a little bit of everything um on a nightly basis. So, I think adding Brennan Donovan’s bat to the lineup as well is really solid. Um, not a player that’s going to hit, you know, 30 plus home runs next year, per se, but a player that can get on base, bring a little bit of speed, play some good defense, and as I mentioned before, has two years remaining under team control. So, with the Cardinals likely heading into a bit of a retool, I could very well see someone like Brendan Donovan available on the trade market this off season.
