Brodie’s Breakdown vs UTA (12/1)
Back here at the tank, Brody Brazil with Drew Amenda. The Sharks take tonight’s game 6-3. They also take the season series against the Utah Mammoth. More on that in just a second. I regret one thing. At our pregame dinner tonight, I wanted to mention I feel like Tyler Tofolei is due. He’s been in and around some scoring chances. He’s a 30 goal scorer from last year. Of course, now when he scores, now I’m going to say it, but I’m glad for him to get off that schneide, you know. Yeah, absolutely. when you look at Tyler because you know goal scorers we’ve seen it our whole you know your whole career that goal scorers are are guys that when they go cold they go pretty darn cold they get frigid but right when they open it up they start going and Tyler the first of all both goals off faceoffs yep right great job by Will Smith to to create the turnover on the first one and the second one Tyler was just more ready than anybody else he just he made the jump over and beat everybody to it and then the quick shot so really good job by Tyler really Good job by that line. You look at they got four goals that line and one of them is going to be watched on every sports center, every highlight reel there is. Will Smith’s little dangle. By the way, for Tofuli, first goal since November 5th. So, as much as the Sharks as a team have been doing well and productive, he really just hadn’t been in on the goal scoring. Finally gets back with two goals tonight. To your point, Will Smith, another two-goal game after his last two goal game. Now on a three-game goal streak. And not just good goals, but to your point, dangles and tow drags and filthy misss and all the fun things that kids say. He was doing it tonight. He does. One, he’s got such a great shot and he shoots the puck really well and he’s using it again. And the that spectacular goal. It starts It starts right here. Demetriof does a fantastic job on shielding the forcheer and then the Sharks come back to the puck. Do a great job to Foley. Celerini slides. Celerini’s play on that though when you re when you watch it again replay it. Watch watch watch Celerbrini. He makes the drop pass and then he runs a little bit of a pick. I think it’s on Keller and that allows the space for Will to do. Yeah. To do what Will did and then also Shakir Muk Mullan drives the middle. He’s in front of the net. Throws VTEC Vanichek off. That’s a fiveman goal with the one man doing spectacular skill work. We have an audio clip of what was running through Will Smith’s head, by the way, on that play. Drew told me to shoot. Shoot the puck. Drew, I know coach told me to shoot, but Drew told me to shoot. Exactly. Let me tell you the story about that. I’ll tell you the story about it. Yeah. Go ahead. Okay. So, uh, his dad I love I love Will Smith’s dad. He’s And his family is wonderful. Will, you know, I’ll let me go back. It’s getting better. Here we go. Well, okay. No, I’ll add to it. Okay. Um, so at the end of the G game when when Will’s dad was visiting and the family was visiting, I was walked by him and he and he said, “What do you think?” And I said, “Can you do me a favor and get Will to shoot them?” Right. We’re on the internet. You’re good. No, I can’t say that cuz I don’t swear cuz it’s against the rules. Um, and he goes, “Yeah, no kidding. I know.” And and then you know, so Ryan Ryan coaching staff, you’re welcome. You know, I my coaching record, as I said, speaks for itself. Yes, it does. We we won’t reference what that was. Exactly. Decades. But the other aspect is this. I was talking to a fellow broadcaster, a friend of ours. All right. Uh looks a lot like me. Okay. Or I look a lot like him cuz I think he’s a little older. But he gets to watch Connor Baddard every night. Okay. Okay. And I get to watch Will Smith and Mlin Celery every night. So Panger. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. And Panganger text Panger text last night after Baddar’s terrific night and said, you know, after I I I said I texted him during the game said that goal should be disallowed because it was so filthy how good the hands were on Badar. And he said, “Have you ever considered that this late in our careers that we’re this lucky to be able to call the games of these guys? Another wave. The talent is amazing. It’s unreal.” Yeah. And and then for the fans, for everybody else, for all of us, we are so lucky to get to watch these guys every night. Yeah. Hey, on the defensive side for San Jose, I know giving up three and I don’t think Ascarov is going to be happy with all three of them, but ASI’s doing the job. And if you look ahead at the schedule, there’s not as many backto-backs from now until the Christmas break. So, you would think in terms of the healthy load like it’s going to be Ascarov and Net will get in there, too. But Ascroar’s going to get a lot of chances. Well, you bring up you bring up the healthy load and that’s that’s the interesting part of it you because Yosh Ascarov early in his career even in the AHL he was um having trouble staying as healthy as he needed to be right and lost in games last year because of he wasn’t healthy right and so what I’ve liked about the Sharks from Will Smith to Shakir Mukulan to Sam Dickinson Michael Misa Yarosab Ascarov they’ve got a plan on bringing these guys along some guys they’re now on a speed Kraken is no longer not worry about him. They’re going to be playing every night. But Yarslav Ascarat needs a guy like Alex Nadulkovich to help him out. They’ve also got to keep an eye on him. They and they do this in practice is really interesting. They keep an eye on how many shots he’s facing in practice. A lot of times bring the bring another goalender in. Shot counter out. Exactly. Like pitchers in in baseball. A pitch count. He’s on a pitch count. So they they did a lot of that during training camp. You’ve off and Thomas Spear close communications there. So, they’re keeping an eye on not overworking Yaroslap because we are only a third of the way through the season. Hey, lastly, I didn’t know you had a cousin in the NHL and we’ve seen him with the Barracuda in the AHL, but Pavo Ramena. Yeah, I’m not saying that right. No, he said, by the way, when I asked him, “Do you know that your last name is so close to Drew Ramen’s name?” He said, “Who?” Wait a second. Come on. That’s not true. No, but great to see him get called up. Great to see him on the power play and get a goal that way. talked to John McCarthy before the game and and um scouting report. Yeah, he got my scouting report on him. Even though you know I’ve done a bunch of games with the with Cuda, you watch Pavle Reenda. He had a fantastic training camp. Yep. But what Pavle does is the hard stuff. He gets in on the forche first and he gets sticks on pucks. He protects the puck really well with with the way he played the, you know, in the offensive zone holding on the pucks. He’s really good at that. He goes to the tough areas, goes in front. How did he score the goal? He went to the front of the net. That’s what he does. He’s a tenacious player and he’s very hard to play against and he showed it today. Now, usually when a guy gets called up or he get a trade or something like that, he’s got that adrenaline going for the first few. So, keep it going. But he did have a very impressive training camp and the coaches noticed. And I like the fact also we speaking of development. You know, people saying, “Why not bring up Chernese? Why not bring up Quinton Musty? Why not bring up this guy or that guy?” Because they’ve got their plan in place. And Burgunda’s a veteran guy. He understands what he’s got to come up here and do. I’m on the Canyone train, by the way. Can’t wait to see more of Luca. Drew, at the end of these, I don’t really know how to finish off the sequence. Sometimes I feel like saying back to you, but there’s nobody to go back to. All right, so we’ll just end back to you.

Brodie can I ask what you thought about Sharkie’s celebration
Nice win by the Sharks – another step forward by the team. Will and Macklin really do look like the new Thornton and Marleau for the 2020s and good to see them back with Tyler Toffoli, at least temporarily.
Two points, Sharks need to work on their SOG against. Even though the scoreboard says this was a comfortable win, Sharks got outshot again and you can only ask Askarov to save 30+ shots a game for so long. Also, good to see Celebrini give back some of the cheapshot hits he has taken in the past… but… well I really don't know if he should stop with the crosschecks because it is good to see him add another element to his repertoire. That said, he needs to be careful. At least Reavo is around, just in case he is needed.
put the word out that we are back!
lol 😂 back to you. I know I have said it a million times but I love the insight you two bring.
love love love these. Keep em coming
Please give a shoutout to Sharkie yesterday and the great fans who booed all night #98 Sergachev for dissing Sharkie at the puck drop!!! We will NEVER forget that!!! We will be sure he hears us the rest of his career no matter what team he may go to we will boo him like no other!😂😂😂 he doesn’t deserve the A on his sweater! Utah you should know better than to pick a player of such low character as a leader. You must have more deserving fellas in your locker room. Couldn’t he have just enjoyed the moment and appreciate the effort Sharkie and any mascot does to stir their fan base and keep it fun? He didn’t have to shake hands (fins), but a nice fist bump would have alleviated any problem. I am SO GLAD we beat them not just for our team, but to know he had to sit on a plane ride with the bitter taste. It was a fun game!!
Love the wrap-ups!
