Lightning vs. Islanders | NHL Highlights | December 02, 2025
Our puck drop is presented by Vander
Pharmaceuticals. Cal Richie, Yanni Gourd off the opening drum and we’re underway tonight
on Long Island because you know Brendon, it’s been the Islanders carry and play out shooting the
other team. This Tampa team I think different for them. They only gave up 13 shots last game
against the New York Rangers. Maybe a more even battle. Maybe that’s what the Islanders need.
4-1 win on Saturday for the Lightning as this shot hits off of Mitchell in front of the net. So,
they’ve just been sitting and waiting a day off in New York City on Sunday. Had some practice day
here yesterday on Long Island and now ready to go for a Tuesday night contest. Cuch feeds Hegel.
That shot blocked by Holstrom. Hegel again up with it. Fires it across the edge. Cuch with the net
in and out of the glove. Seren grab try. Celli turned out over the last five games. Sil Heman
drives his way around the back of Andre Vaselki. He blue line cha wrist shot. That one got through.
gloved and held by Andre Vaselpski. Dropped off, stepped on by Holberg. Handed on here for Barcel.
They’ll attack a forward and Nick Paul. One handed to the net. Got wrapped up and taken down. And a
penalty called by the back referee. It comes off the draw and it comes from a winger who’s going
to again. Yanni Gourd making the jump. Here we go. Turnover. Gourd. Schaffer hustling back. Yanni
Gourd on a back hand. Sroen had to squeeze it and Brandon Hegel. They hound the puck down then
try to go to work. Nice behind the back pass. Kavanagh Forvat returns it. Shov shoots it and a
save from Vaselvki. Adam Pel to the net. That one was tipped by in front covered up. Everything but
win a Jack Adams award. Highly regarded as one of the best coaches in the National Hockey League as
this shot comes in and it’s stopped. Yeah. Well, him and Rod Brymore are still at those spots
in the original spots where they started, but those other guys as this shot comes
through and it’s stopped by Sroen. Oh, York Strand picks up this puck and feeds the
blue line. Mozer shot was tipped by Gensel and it goes wide. Thrown to the net again. Saved
by Sroen. Schaer steps down the wall away from Yorkstrand. Matthew Schaer’s pass behind
his back from Richie and back from Nuclear. That shot off the shaft of the stick of Vasilki.
Now Ryan Pulock short pass Duclair. Homestroke rips a wrister. Stopped by Vasilki. The rear
stripped by Mayfield. Mayfield to the blue paint off the stick of Pasowski. Back on goal from
Mapell and another save. Gurgensson tried to kne his way through. Lost an engine. Went down. Pull
up ties up there but it’s Homer with the puck. Blue line. Radish walk. Shoots. That one tipped
up by Gurgensson’s and stopped and held by Sroken. Siroken couldn’t knock that one down. Yanni
Gourd pushed it down the boards. Gurgensson’s. Gourd shuffled to the net and look what I found.
It popped right into the glove of Ilia Sroken. Wrapped to the front by a falling Brandon
Hegel. Now the Islanders try to bring numbers up by Shaker flying down the left wing boards.
Quarterback pulls up. Shav returns kicked out. Bo Horvath follows up his own shot.
Deposites the rebound behind Basilki. Team leading 16th of the year for Bo Horvath.
Couple of games down he’s got on the board. This starts in the other end and Schaer joins
the rush. It doesn’t look like much. That changes the complexion of the entire attack.
And how about Shabangh there. I mean he waits till that extra man gets drawn to him and Horvat
collects his own rebound. That’s a great goal, but that’s the length of the ice and I love
Schaefer joining. Made it tough for the Tampa Bay Lightning to sort out. But we talked
about how big Andre Vasilleski is in the net. How do you beat him? You make him go side
to side and take a one- nothing lead. Avatars have had a lead on this home stand. Paul shot
deflected just away from the net. Got to find a way to make sure you just play a few minutes,
three or four. That’s been an issue on the homestead. You get one, you get one right back
up. See if these guys can understand that and take control here. Adam Pell off the glass. Glove
down by the dangerous Jake Gensel and Paul to the goal. Off of Srogan Paul again wound around
towards Santini. Santini bumps to the corner. Jake gets up with it. Gastel try to go to Barcel
skate and set up a chance for Carlile right in front of the Tampa Bay Lightning back. Carile
Santini Santini shot wide grab by D’Angelo and he’ll move it along towards Anders Lee. Santini
taken now goes on Gonzalez to the Islanders and a change. Gonzalez kicked out rebound kept it away
from the net as Cooer plays to the goal line. Getel coo holds, waits, looks, gets a pass. His
shot had to be stopped by Sroen and cleared by pass through. James downhill leaves it off
on the wall for Hegel. Coming out is Richie. That shot stopped by Sroer across the Lightning
line. Drop pass to Barcel. A little too slow and it’s grabbed. Lightning the other way. Holberg
crisscrossing with Gourd. Risks a shot. That one calmly covered by Srogan Olenberg had
that one coughed up. Florida and Toronto, the bottom two teams in the Eastern Conference
right now. Adam Pel chucked one on that and stopped by Basilki. And that one thrown from below
the goal line and off the goalender as well. You know the latest date all Eastern Conference teams
have been at or above 500? February 10th. That was in 2017. Gurgensson risks a shot. A blocker
save made by Siroken. The Dman out topberg and Lee half barcel got it between him and Krov.
Cut off little puck. Set it in front. Tapped on goal by Serelli. Sro made the first save.
Hangle a chance. That’s blocked by Jafer. But watch this. Cut surprises everyone coming out the
weak side or sorry strong side rather than weak. Blair off the turnover created by Holstrom. They
hit a trailing Cal Richie. Richie no shot there. Sets it up for Adam. The blast, the tip,
the save, the rebound. It was all there. Gurgensson’s able to clear it away from danger.
Homeberg flipped it along. Yanni Gourd couldn’t lay it down flat. Gourd off the bench. He sets
up Hegel and the shot goes wide and perhaps the hottest player in the National Hockey League and
maybe Jason Robertson has played that too. This one comes in on goal and it’s stopped by Sroken
Olmstrom. Nice move around Coov. One hands it around Carile. It’s picked up by Santini. Look
out. Islanders were in a change. Here come the Lightning. Serelli stopped by Sroen. Developing
right as the Tampa Bay Lightning got the pocket. How about this from Serelli left to right in the
pad of Sroken just sticking with it right there. What a beautiful save. Oh, we talked about the
giveaway to Tom Wilson last game with Ilas Sroen and everybody’s response after the game was
he’s bailed us out a number of times. Well, guess what? He just bailed out. Got Mayfield going
for escape. Draws some attention. He keeps on moving. Mayfield going coast to coast. His shot
kicked out. Rebound fourth line. Second power play of the game for the Islanders. Barcel driving
right across the paint. Shamanov shot came back to him. Still with it. Couldn’t get it away. Broken
stick. Chance for Horvad. Smothered by Vaselpski. Cucher tried to center. That was shut down on one
knee by Mayfield. Now Hegel feeds it to Moer. That shot tapped and able to adjust with Sroen. Barcel
sets up shot. Dru Schaefer. Schaefer to Barcel. He’s got a chance to get there and rolled off
his stick. Then he got buried by Moer. This is the Barczel. A quick pass from Schaefer. Sort
of catches the bolts and that one just rolls off the stick into the skates of Richie. Holstrom the
Pelican. Now Richie one on two. Now Richie snaps one into the bread basket of Basilki. Great job
by both of those guys just doing what they had to to make sure that I srooken saw that shot from a
place that he didn’t mind. Final game of a pregame road trip for Tampa as Dclair to track around
Carile and maneuvers in drop off. Here’s Holstrom. Homestrom the Angelo just had to get rid of it as
Yanni Gord right there. Duclair scores. Duclair started it with the takeaway and he finishes it.
Picks it. Two nothing Islanders here in the third by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Away goes Duplair.
Empty little drag. And as this thing comes in, some patience from Hornro and then he eventually
finds back to the point. D’Angelo just keeps that thing alive. But how about the stick from Duplair,
the eventual goal scorer. He just makes sure he gets a piece right in this moment right here. And
then he pops to that scoring area. What a heads up play by Cal Richie. A backhand pass on and
off his stick. He’s happy. What a play by Kell Rich. Just the awareness. That’s a quick play. He
gets that in his feet. He knows exactly where to put that thing. Warbat or Shabanov. Three guys got
caught deep. Pelic with a good stick in the line, but still it’s Coov with the puck for Dast. Walks
in. Slap pass to the front. Pel trying to clean it up. A pile up and a back hand from Dast. Went
wide. Simply trying to get in. Matt Barcel with a dart to the outside. Barcel with a wrist. Calmly
played away by Masalowski. Nick Paul with Mayfield leaning on connects the pass through. One-time
Bjorkstrand blocked by Mitchell. Bjorkstrand again. That time the glove held by Ilia Sroken.
Now Adam Pel looking over his options. Duclair on the give and go. The shot. Sick save by Masali.
Off the draw and wound up out for Lilliburn. Great stick by Ziplov trying to muscle his way to the
net. Saved by Vaselpski. Taken to the boards by Pel and it’s called for Radish. Radish for Moer.
Moer shot. Rebound still alive. Sroen’s down. A little help for Pell. Kept that one from crossing
the line. Carile. His shot never made it to the net. That one called Ryan Pulock on the way. Paul
artor the flex to the corner. Will the defenseman down low for James. James from a sharp angle.
It goes in. Dominic James with no angle sneaks one short side on Sroken and with three and
a half to go. Tampa has pulled within one. Doesn’t look like there’s much. And the
eventual goal scorer, let’s pick him up. He’s in front of the net right now. And he just
brings this thing around, turns and throws it. Sroen comes off his comes off the post just
momentarily, just maybe not even an inch. But you watch the body language. It’s broken.
Leans away just a tiny bit. That’s not a good goal for a guy that stopped ones that he shouldn’t
have so far tonight. Tampa Bay is back in this game now. Just the second NHL goal for Dominic
James. Radish put in the hands of their best player in Cooerov. Down low. Gensel. Cucher once
more. Radish. A blast. Save by Sarro. Down two. It’s over. The Islanders hang on
2-1 over the Lightning. Gone is their three-game losing streak. Gone is
the Lightning sevengame winning streak.

W! LGI!
I'll never forget how the Islanders should've beat the Lightning in back to back ECFs and how they lost Game 7 in the 3rd period on a short handed goal 1-0.
Sorokin!
