🔥New York Jets Fans, THIS WILL FIRE YOU UP!🔥

[Music] What’s going on Jets fans? Welcome into the Jets Report. My name is Patrick Seman and coming up on today’s show, we got a fun one for you guys. We’re going to be diving into the Jets special teams and why they have completely turned the season around if the special teams has not been playing the way they’ve been playing. Jets probably got one win. I mean, you can chalk up the Browns game to the special teams and even this past weekend to Falcons. special teams played a huge impact on the outcome of that game. But there’s some more data to back that. Zack Rosenblad tweeting this out saying the Jets special teams unit had an EPA expected points added of 15.22 against the Falcons. That’s the second or that’s the second best single game performance of any special teams unit in the NFL this season. It’s also the second best for the Jets since 2000. Obviously, they recovered that one punt. Isaiah Williams almost had a house call on a kick return. So, they’re making big time plays. And that’s also what’s so special about the special teams unit is they have big plays, but they also don’t have the catastrophic, you know, fups that you see from like other NFL teams. Like the Jets special teams unit, like if you just watch that individual unit play football, you’re like, “Oh, Jets are a playoff team.” Like they are very buttoned up group um in that phase of the game. But also even more data here, the Jets special team stats, they are first in average kick return yardage. So shout out to Kay and Isaiah Williams. They’re ninth in punt return yardage and they have the second lowest opponent punt return average. They’re first in special teams touchdowns, first in field goal percentage, and fourth in punts inside the 20. That is so massive. And we’ll talk about Chris Banjo here in a second because also I think that you know that is big on coaching, but also the Jets like they I was kind of making fun of Darren Muji as much as he was valuing like the kick return um side of the game like he wanted to go out there get Isaiah Williams. You obviously had Kane Wangu um in the fold as well, but like you got a hell of a kicker, you got hell of a punter, and you got two great return guys. So like even the personnel for the Jets special teams is top of the league and they’ve been making a big difference this entire season. But Aaron Glenn had this to say and Chris Banjo saying those guys can relate to him really, really well. He was one of those guys that was a true special teams demon, so he understands how that part of the our team has to operate. I love Aaron Glenn calling him a special teams demon. That’s pretty funny there. But, you know, you got to give your hats off to Chris Banjo for changing one of the weakest units on the Jets and to probably the obviously not the identity of the football team, but one of their strengths. Like, I mean, the biggest reason why the Jets lost week one to the Pittsburgh Steelers, special teams unit completely collapsed. And now heading into, you know, obviously next week, like you’re looking at the special teams unit, it’s like, all right, this is one of the best ones in the National Football League, if not the best one. So, shout out to Chris Banjo. obviously was looking a little murky for the first month or two of the season, but really they have hit the ground running over the last um couple weeks and also had something to look forward to for the future where it’s like, hey, heading in the next season, it’s like all right, we got no worries about special teams. They’ll be an elite unit no matter what. And you know, they have had a carousel of returners this year. Like you’ve started off with Xavier Gibson, you had Brillin Allen back there, you had Avery Williams, Isaiah Davis, but those two, Isaiah Williams and K Wangu, I mean there’s some legit playmakers, man. Like those are just two guys who want to get the football in their hands and they can just go make plays. But you know the Jets put their RBs in the line of fire when they had Breon back there, Isaiah Davis. Like I disagree with that. So it’s at least positive that now you have two like true returners like Kay Wangu, Isaiah Williams, they are on this football team. They are on the 53man roster to return kicks and be explosive. And these two have been flat out amazing this year. Um Kane Wangu I still think is the top five returner in the league. He has been, you know, consistently great. Um, even dating back to his days with the Minnesota Vikings and Isaiah Williams. I mean, the fact that the Jets were able to just pick him up off a practice squad. Um, it’s a great get by Muji and his staff. But, you know, KA with 12 kick returns this year for 423 yards, averaging 35.2 yards per return. Has that one kick return touchdown. Isaiah Williams averaging almost 30 yards per return. Like, these two have been fantastic. And it is crazy like thinking about how far we have came from week one where the biggest reason we lost was because um the kick returner botched a f or botched a kick end up being a fumble. Steelers scored a touchdown in the very next play and now you got two legit guys where now we’re looking at next season it’s like all right you got some weapons back there. You got Kay, you got Isaiah Williams and also what Isaiah Williams does in the punt return game too is also fantastic. But it all starts with the head or the coach of the special teams. It all starts with Chris Banjo. So, if you guys want to show him some love, give me those CBS down below in the comments section. Completely change that side of the football, man. Um, you know, it is a very it is a weapon to have an elite special teams unit and Banjo’s just been absolutely fantastic. So, type those CBs down below. But it’s not just the returners that are getting all the love on today’s show. Let’s talk about the Jets kicking game. Uh, McNamera and Nick Folk have been awesome this year. So, we’ll show them some love here coming up in just a second. But before we do so, I got to tell you guys about today’s presenting sponsor, and that is Prize Picks. Shout out to Prize Fixo for sponsoring today’s show. Prize Fix, it’s good to be right. All right, let’s talk about the other face. Special teams end up being your kickers, Austin Mcamera and Nick Folk, have been absolutely amazing. Um, we’re going to start off with the guy who got the game ball after the game. Former teammate of Aaron Glenn back when he was with the Cowboys, Nick Folk. Hit that game winner from 56 yards against the Atlanta Falcons. Was a complete line drive. He really had to get his full leg into that one. But on the season, he’s been damn near perfect. 22 of 23 comes out to be 95.7%. Also perfect on extra points so far. So, you know, for an older guy, um, you know, he’s shown the power and accuracy of his right leg. So, shout out to Nick Folk. He’s been uh you know truly just a A+ kicker for the Jets this season. But I think the biggest shocker here is uh Austin McNamera. He has been awesome. Uh 51 punts going for just under 2400 punt yards. And the best stat on here is he has 22 punts inside of the 20 yard line. So clearly he is doing something right. Obviously I don’t know the technicality of the punting position, but obviously spin rate is a huge thing. Um you know hang time and all that. He’s clearly having a great year and he’s averaging 46.9 yards per punt which is unbelievable. And you know again this starts at the top for the Jets is you know Daram Muji you know even though you know the big time moves like I criticize them for Justin Fields obviously but like the margin moves that Dar Muji’s made have been awesome and even on the special teams department like Nick Folk Austin McMah all right you hit two home runs there but then even like on the trade market him picking up like an AD Mitchell Jawan Briggs a Jarvis Brownley like him on the margins this year has been truly truly um special as a GM especially in his first year. Um but you know special teams you know Aaron Glenn after the game he was like offense defense special teams and really you know showed some excitement for him and you know for a big reason like Stiggers had that one fumble recumbry on the muff punt. Isaiah Williams had an 83 yard kickoff return and then Nick Folk sealed the deal with the 56 game or 56 yard game-winning field goal attempt or field goal make. So, you know, special teams clearly making an impact. And Aaron Glenn kind of talked about special teams making an impact on just winning games. And this is what he had to say. He said Aaron Glenn on winning uh these games now even if they don’t necessarily have something to play for. He says winning is contagious. So, you know, I’m reading that as that’s a culture setting, you know, quote by Aaron Glenn. Like he understands that, you know, obviously like I’m sure some fans are about probably 50/50. like some fans want the Jets to tank and just lose every single game and try to get the highest traffic possible or you try to build a culture and I’m in the stance of you know building the culture because it is crucial moving forward and you know what is also what kind of drives me crazy about the tank talk with the Jets is an unknown like who knows if Mendoza is going to be good who knows if Tai Simpson’s going to be good knows if any of these quarterbacks or any of these players are for sure going to be good I’d rather take the guarantee and if you start winning games, you start building that culture. Like that is a guarantee, not just like a faceless draft pick that we don’t even know who it is yet. Like it’s the difference between three and seven that extreme. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t, but I would take the culture wins over that any day of the week. But we appreciate all of you guys tuning in to today’s show.
