Keith Hernandez claims Mets refuse to let him attend analytics meetings: ‘I’ve wanted to’

He should have driven Steve Cohen to the airport when he was asked. It’s what friends do for each other.
Yea they have work to do Keith.
Keith is an asset and if he has something to contribute they should listen. He may not be huge on the modern analytics-driven game but his history speaks for itself.
Can’t be worse than our non-existent approach last year
Better fundies.
Analytics lesson over.
Well you’re not a coach Keith. Hope this helps
I don’t think Keith should be allowed to attend private team meeting if he is also calling the game. Feels like it will add some bias
I mean, yeah? He’s not on the team.
Keith’s understanding of the game should be respected. If he wants to learn new stuff why’s that bad or why’s he seen as some hinderence to the process? Idk but it seems sort of elitist , let the experts handle it boomer type stuff. I hope not
He ain’t on the payroll
Keith bb you don’t even actually work for the team
I can understand not wanting him on the field to help players, but I don’t understand refusing to let him in on a meeting or two. Keith clearly has an interest in the intricacies of the game and I could see him simply having a genuine interest to learn more about the modern game. Obviously that doesn’t mean the team HAS to let him in, but Keith is a Mets legend who’s been with the team for 40ish years now. Maybe some people disagree, but respecting team legends should be important and I don’t think allowing someone in who is a legend and is also a current team broadcaster should be denied.
There’s got to be a way he can learn what analytics are and how they’re applied that’s not specific to the *Mets* analytics.
If he wants to take a class at Columbia, I’m sure SNY would reimburse him.
If Keith was just hoping to get a general explanation of how analytics work, then yeah the Mets probably should have given him that. If he wanted to sit on an actual discussion of the Mets analytics as it pertain to specific players or their own proprietary methods, then the Mets absolutely not let Keith do that.
Also I don’t necessarily agree that the Mets 1Bs should be going to Keith for advice. Keith has no coaching experience. Keith was an amazing first baseman but sometimes those are the worst coaches. He was so good at what he did that important decisions and movements come naturally to him. He may never had to think and figure out why he had to do what he did, so he may struggle imparting that knowledge to others
Is it just me or does it seem like there’s an effort to stir up dissension around the team recently?
That’s messed up have Keith turn in to join any meeting he desires he’s an great asset to the organization
You’re telling me the Mets don’t want to let Keith Hernandez, a guy who’s job it is to fill space talking about baseball on TV for 3 hours every day, into their confidential meetings where they discuss their proprietary analytics and how they’re using them?
Yeah, makes sense to me.
Idk who has seen Keith’s detailed scorecard but I think he knows analytics just as much as anyone else. It does no harm him sitting in a meeting. Also he’s a former batting title holder and arguably the greatest defensive 1st baseman to play the game.
I wouldn’t trust any outside influence in my inner circle either. Too many leaks happen, too much $$ involved. I love Keith, but protect the house.
Keith can’t possibly think that he is that self important to think that he should be allowed in. Lmfao
Keith was playing Strat-o-Matic Baseball since childhood. That right there shows a basic understanding of analytics. 🤷🏻♂️
If he wanted to coach then he should’ve chosen to become a coach. Instead he chose to become a part of the broadcast.
I can’t believe the amount of KEYBOARD GM’s comment like they actually know all the facts …. 🛑 BELIEVING THE B.S. and start spitting real time Information or just plain STFU ALREADY ……… let’s face it none of us ever been in an actual MLB TEAM MEETING OF ANY KIND SO LETSSS JUST SAY LFGM LFGM LFGM ……. And hope for the best for the team we are rooting for………. Keith is the GOAT HE SHOULD BE A HOF’er and that’s it …… now I’ll wait for all the comments on my comment because that’s what is the best part of all these threads ETC…. Respect ✊ to all and have a great Holiday season.. Merry Christmas and a Happy Blessed , Safe and Healthy NEW YEAR..!!
“ I’LL BE BACK “ 😄🤣🤔🎯🎯😉😉😉⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
The Cohen’s have been more open to former Mets contributing to the team more then ever before in the history of the franchise. Countless legends have been brought back over the past few years and celebrated.
That being said, Keith is out of bounds on this one. No team should be sharing important analytical details to anyone not on the coaching staff or in the locker room. I understand where he is coming from in terms of learning how new baseball operates but if he ever accidently slipped in a confidential analytical secret on broadcast, if would be a huge problem and grounds for firing.
I love Keith but there’s gotta be some kind of separation between the broadcast and coaching/personnel side of things. This makes complete sense to me and I think he’s expecting way too much to be on discussions like that
Cause they know he’s gonna be mumbling and grumbling in the corner about it all. when it comes to offense, he’s an old head. And as a lifetime .300 hitter, even though new age baseball doesn’t value batting average, he was good at putting the bat to the ball so in his mind I’m sure he’s an authority on the subject.
Do any of the broadcasters get that kind of access? Because if there is real in house, confidential information, you want to keep the number of people know it very small.
I mean why would they? He’s not in the FO, he’s not a coach
They should ask him to work with the first basemen to give them tips on how to field better. Keith said on WFAN when being interviewed by Richard Neer last week that the only person that ever asked him to do so was Todd Zeile when the Mets made him the first baseman in 2000.
Since when does keith care about analytics lol
I find your lack of Fundies disturbing!…. Release him Hernandez !!!
God, I love Keith. But let’s be honest, there’s no way he’d be able to keep a lid on that stuff during broadcasts.
I remember when they wouldnt even let Keith on the field to speak with the players and mentor them before games. Cohen and Buck got rid of that rule. This i dont really get though. Why should Keith be allowed this kind of access?
Because Keith is a baseball purist and they know it
Keith’s hoping the analytics guys go “You got any of dem fundies?”
Keith was absolutely asked to work with Murph in the early 2010s. I remember it vividly.
Do GKR ever invite analytics guys to the booth? Rhetorical question but they might have some non-sensitive info to share.
Arguably the greatest defensive first baseman in the building and they don’t want to see what he brings to the table. The Wilpons treated alumni like trash too.
Keith is not allowed in the HOF and not allowed in analytics meetings. Let Keith in

I bet he’s super annoying as much as I love him
