The NBA Rewards Flopping and Ruins Real Basketball

  1. For the last years I didn’t care who won if it wasn’t the Wolves. At this point, I also don’t want this guy to win. I just hate to see the shit they do have any success.

  2. They stopped the MN-OKC game for 7 fucking minutes to review Hartenstiens flop and still got it wrong.

  3. I’ve been saying this for a while, but the issue is baked right into the rulebook.

The line between marginal and non-marginal contact, aka the line between a non-foul and a foul, is whether or not a player’s speed, quickness, balance, and rhythm (SQBR) is impacted. This means it’s not about the contact itself applied by the defender, but rather the impact on the offensive player. Well it doesn’t take a genius sports analyst to figure out what happens next – every player needs to make it clear their SQBR was impacted to get a call…so they do…and we all hate it.

  4. It sucks, but to completely avoid it bc you want to be “ethical” isn’t the answer either. We’re not standing up for human right here. This is still a game and players should take any advantages they can within the rules of the game. It’s ugly AF to foul bait and flop around, but no one can deny that it works especially well for SGA and Luka. I don’t think Ant has it in him to go that far, but he could benefit from incorporating it in spots and in his own ways.
