Despite being in the worst shooting slump of his career, Gradey is consistently winning his minutes.
Going by the eye test, its playing with extreme pace, hustling for deflections, rebounds, running on the fast break and making good passes.
I imagine despite his shooting slump, his gravity behind the arc is spacing the floor really well for his teammates, contributing to good offence.
He is too good of a shooter to shoot poorly on good looks forever. It’ll come around just like IQ’s shot did.

nothing wrong with people wanting to believe in gradey and i’m trying not to hate but a lot of the arguments in his defence are so weak
gradey has the highest +/- on the team, how is this a good indicator of how well he’s playing when +/- is based on lineups and team performance?
gradey has shot above league average from 3 once so far, and he was above by 1%. he has yet to show that he’s a good shooter, so i don’t get where you’re coming from with the “he’s too good of a shooter to shoot poorly on good looks”
he’s gotten better with hustling and deflecting, i don’t think he contributes much with passing or rebounding, and running on the fast break is a bare minimum for an nba player
if he continues to show improvements on the defensive end and shoot above league average from 3 this season, i’ll feel good about him as a player. if his shot can’t come around though i don’t see a future for him on this team
The spacing that Gradey creates just by existing on the floor outweighs any of his perceived negatives. He’s like the ultimate stats vs eye test guy

He might be struggling to his 3s but it’s only a matter of time before those shots go down. Whenever he’s on the floor the other cant leave him open because shooters are gonna shoot and he gives us floor spacing for it.
Those hater will tell you plus/minus is not a good number.
+/- in a vaccum is not a good stat
While I believe his shot will come around and that we should still continue giving him chances, I think it’s important to keep in mind that Darko has been VERY selective in his minutes to Gradey. Compared to last year, he’s rarely really put in situations where the other teams best scorers will exploit him on defense (and they still do btw). Still a good hustle guy, and other teams still DO respect his 3 pt shot enough to help space out the floor on offense, but let’s not get that plus minus stat into our heads.
He has gotten a better as a player especially on the defensive end. I think the gambling isn’t bad because he was already getting blown by so much. Shooting comes and goes we should know this by now cough cough the quickley reactions after 4 games is a good example

It’s ok to say somebody is playing bad when they are playing bad. It doesn’t mean you hate them and blame them for everything. Grow up.
+/- isn’t truly indicative of how well someone is doing. But yeah, he’s def doing better than this sub gives him credit for.

This stat means literally nothing. It’s more a product of who he has shared the court with.
In watching Gradey this year it’s clear his offence isn’t where he wants it to be but every time you see a shot not fall you immediately see him hustling to get a rebound or get back on defence. He’s trying, and obviously succeeding in helping the team in any way he can. You could do a lot worse.

Gradey has been inconsistent in the past, but he’s shown a higher ceiling than anyone on the team.
The whole +/- data is proof that he can maintain a high level of contribution throughout the season. I get people think the stat is chery-picked – the same people ironically rely completely on DBPM to explain why Scottie is the best player in the league.
It’s clear that he impacts the game in non-counting stats. The team defends and rebounds better when he’s on the court. He creates spacing and ball movement – when he’s not on the floor, the offense regresses to Nick/Fred standing around and chucking late shot clock 3s.
