“I Was Fired Up” | Josh Norris Has Three-Point Performance In Return To Ice | Buffalo Sabres
Josh, in your words, how would you describe your return to the ice for the first time in nearly two months? Um, pretty good. I mean, what made it pretty good? Um, yeah, I just, um, wanted to come back, um, and just kind of, you know, get right back in and not be a distraction. Um, you know, I thought the guys have done a good job. um you know, they’ve been battling and uh um we’ve had some guys out and um you know, I know it happens across the league, but it is hard to um you know, do that when you have so many guys out. So, um yeah, just um I thought they did a great job um up to this point and I just wanted to come in and and uh contribute and um really happy to be back. It was a while ago, but you picked up right where you left off in the preseason where, you know, you had talked about what a great preseason you had and how how good you felt in the preseason. It seemed like you picked right up from where you left off. Yeah, I didn’t really know how tonight was going to go to be honest with you. Um um yeah, just, you know, wanted to keep things really simple. I told Tommer and Benny first few shifts, it’s going to be really simple. Um you know, end up getting a power play and um you know, kind of gets you right into the game. So, um, yeah. Um, I don’t really know what else to say, but yeah. When you back into that pass, how would you feel? How satisfying was that for you personally? Um, yeah, I was a little more excited for that one. Um, yeah, I don’t know. Just really good play by Benny and um, yeah, I mean, at that point, I think it’s 5-1 and it’s um, you know, it’s hard to come back to 51 lead. So that kind of sealed it and um yeah, I was a little I was fired up for that one. The your first uh your assist that was supposed to be that was a pass right to to Josh in front. Yeah. Just what did you see on that play? That play seemed to really get you going. Um yeah, I mean I got it and originally thought I was going to shoot and um D just came out and bit. So um yeah, Donor did a great job. Uh we talked about build building walls and uh he built the wall and got a goal out of it. So there’s a lot to talk about offensively, but it seems like you guys defended very well too. Uh did you like the defensive game also? Yeah, I think um a lot of you know playing well defensively is um you know having the puck and um skating and not giving the uh giving them time and um you know not really getting them giving them a chance to get back into you know their position whether it’s neutral zone or dzone or whatever it is. So um you know I think Dzone like I said has a lot of correlation with um you know how your game is with the puck and I thought we were really good with the puck tonight. Josh, you mentioned this morning that, you know, you had some trouble sleeping last night and you were just really excited to get going. I’m just curious how much different this game felt um like stepping on the ice and getting back and just in front of the home crowd and all that. Yeah. Um it was nice to, you know, come back um and be at home. Um definitely I I tried to treat it like a normal game, but um yeah, like I said, I got a little excited um last couple days cuz probably knew that this was uh going to be the game and um yeah, so a little restless last night, but hopefully better sleep tonight. Josh, you’re getting more guys back, your teammates, Jason Zucker, yourself, Zack Benson, you know, Greenway. How much stronger does that team get, you know, not just skill-wise, but numbers wise? Sorry, can you repeat that? Alex was distracting me. Which one? You’re you’re getting guys back on the roster. Zucker, yourself, Benson, Greenway. How does that help kind of the team’s morale, if you will, when you get the strength and numbers and the strength and skill back to the roster? Yeah, it helps a lot. Um yeah, like I said, we’ve had um you know, a fair amount of guys, you know, kind of in and out and um you know, um obviously Kess has had a tough go, so I feel for him. And um you know, just but yeah, like I said, getting guys back up and up definitely makes things easier and um you know, it takes pressure off of um you know, certain positions and guys can just go out and you know, play and um so yeah, it’s been nice to get some guys back.
Buffalo Sabres forward Josh Norris spoke with the media after the team’s 5-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on December 1, 2025. He talked about the two goals he scored, how he had been itching to get back on the ice, how it felt being back, and more.
