Breaking Down Dane Brugler’s Mock Draft 1.0! | New York Jets Draft Jordyn Tyson & Brandon Cisse

All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, Dane Bugler of The Athletic just dropped his newest mock draft. His first mock draft of the season. Let’s freaking go. I haven’t looked at it yet. We’re going to break this thing down together. Two first round picks. I’m freaking excited to dive into it. I I cannot wait for the offseason, right? Of course, you know, these games are important. develop these young players. Let’s try to get as much positivity out on tape as possible. But man, when I’m looking at this 2026 off seasonason, I have I think about 30 to 40 video ideas planned. I cannot wait for it. I love the build. I love kind of that that grind to add talent, the pursuit of finding talent for this team. So, let’s dive into it, right? Let’s not waste any more time. So, with the first pick, he has the Browns trading up for Fernando Mendoza. I could definitely see that making sense, right? Whether they keep Stfansky, whether they fire Stfansky, I do think it makes they have extra draft capital. I think it’s important for Cleveland to uh really nail uh that quarterback spot. I’m excited to see what Sanders can do for, you know, from here on out. But I just don’t know if five games is a big enough sample size to where Stfansancy can say, “All right, we’re totally fine at quarterback based off of what we’ve seen so far this season.” Uh in other words, how the Browns have handled the Sanders situation. So, and then of course again in the event that he’s fired, you can definitely argue. Okay, brand new regime wanting to make a push uh up to the top of the draft to go land their guy. Let’s see. Let’s see. Second overall. Wow. Okay, he has the Raiders trading up with the Giants to select Dante Moore. Does Bugler know something that we don’t about Moore potentially declaring? I’m not sure. But I do like the fit in Vegas for Moore. Why? because they first of all they moved on from Chip Kelly, Dante Moore’s ex head coach who was the worst offensive coordinator in football. But this Raiders team needs talent. They need more playmakers. They need a better offensive line or at least better offensive line production. It is awful. Gino does not have a chance. Yes, Gino is not playing well, but if you’ve watched any Raiders games this season, if you’re a Raider fan or not, if you just simply pop on a Raider game, you can tell it’s not all Gino’s fault. This idea that Gino sucks now and he’s holding the Raiders back. It’s complete nonsense. Yes, he has not played well. Yes, he’s aggressive down the field trying to make plays, trying to push the ball and he’s throwing a lot of interceptions. But it is because he’s playing hero ball and this offensive line again is giving him no chance. So, as you draft more here, you can essentially roll Gino out there. more can grow, learn, develop on the bench. And ideally, you somewhat build up the offensive line. You try to get some more playmakers, whether it’s later in this draft or, you know, in free agency or something. Build up the team a little bit. Then you can insert Dante Moore into a a better situation maybe after the season or like 10 12 games uh into the year. Who else? Who else? New Orleans Saints. Arll Reese. Arll Reese from an athletic standpoint is just unreal. like his my favorite thing about Arvel Ree closing speed. You know, you can like the you’re thinking about the fit here with the Saints, right? Brandon Saley defense. Wow. Ree can really bounce around. He can rush from the left. He can rush from the right. He can stand up and play middle linebacker, right? On early downs, if you want to have him spy the quarterback, which is really where I feel like he can shine at the next level. He could almost be like the kryptonite to Lamar, to Josh Allen, to Pat Mahomes, to Baker M. You know, guys that extend plays. Running quarterbacks are one thing, but guys that can just break free from the pocket. Run, run, extend, extend, and then boom, hit the open guy. Arll Reese can be the new kryptonite for that. Again, right, his closing speed is crazy. You look at him from a size standpoint. I mean, 6’4 with that type of speed, factoring in his arm length, right? This is such an underrated thing when it comes uh when it comes to Ree when talking or when projecting him to the pros as an edge rusher because we don’t have this massive sample size of Ree as an edge when we’ve seen him do that. He’s violent, he’s aggressive, he has success, but it’s not this massive, you know, years and years of tape on Ree just consistently beating tackles, right? So arm length with Reese is going to be hu is going to be massive and there’s a chance that he could have 34 inch arms. In other words, that is a massive win and will that will shoot up his draft stock like crazy. So you can argue he’s the best defensive uh player in football right now. Then he’s going to hit the combine, hit the proday, his stock is going to continue to rise. Um I mean in in that Saints defense, right, you see a lot of different looks. That’s a fantastic fit. Wow. New York Giants here. Wide receiver Carell Tate from Ohio State. The Giants are a weird team because, you know, obviously they’re horrible. Um, they continue to lose a bunch of games here, but they have so many quote unquote important positions figured out. You look at left tackle with Andrew Thomas. You look at wide receiver one with Malik Neighbors. You look at the quarterback with Jackson Dart, although, you know, it’s still early in his career. Uh, you have edge rushers. Brian Burns has been unbelievable this season. You have Kavon Tibido there. They just drafted Abdul Carter. Rookie season has not gone well, but they’re not going to give up on him after, you know, a season. They have defensive like they have so much they I mean, they brought in a couple DBs. This Giants team has a lot of positions figured out. And it’s just strange to see them still continue to be uh awful. And so I could see the team, especially at four, just say, “Hey, you know what? Let’s go out and get neighbors a complimentary piece. Let’s give Dart another weapon. Let’s maybe take some of the pressure on Neighbors coming back from the ACL because Carl Tate, I mean, he’s been just flatout awesome this season. Like, you feel like any time Julian Saiyan throws his way, he comes down with it. He’s like a true ball magnet, right? It just it finds a way to land in his hands. Every single time a pass is thrown his way, which is just, you know, crazy. So, you know, him as a route runner, you’re looking at his coaching, right? Ryan Day or Brian Hartline, the maybe track record of wide receivers that come out of Ohio State. Uh we’re looking at what Ibuka is doing this season. It’s everything is is pointing up for Carell Tate here. At five, he is the Tennessee Titans again in that trade back situation with the Browns going Keldrick Faulk edge rusher from Auburn. Absolutely love this pick. Now disclaimer, we don’t know who the head coach of the Titans is going to be. If the Titans want to continue rolling out, you know, a lot of oddman like Kel Faulk can bounce like it says edge here, but he can play DTackle. He can play, you know, as a stand-up rusher. You can really do whatever you want with Kellrick Faulk on the defensive line. You can line him up right over the center. I think the combination of power, versatility, and size with Faulk is going to really turn a lot of heads with defensive minds, uh, defensive coordinators, defensive play callers, what have you at the next level because he could just do so many things. He’s so like he has NFL power, boom, that’s already handled. And the size, he’s not going to he’s to me, he’s not like a tweener where if you put him at DTackle, he’s too small, but if you put him at edge, he’s too big. I really feel like he’s in that in that sweet spot where he can kind of do everything um and not really have, you know, a major drop off in one significant area. One thing that I love about Faulk, he doesn’t have a lot of like a ton like a ton of production this season to be fair, but when he has his hands on the quarterback, when he has his hands on running backs, he is extremely violent. like he will just drive these guys into the ground just so aggressively. And I love that from a defensive uh standpoint, right? You got to you got to impose, right? You have to be able to make your mark somehow and be able to try to, you know, gain a margin where you can. And if you have when you start adding these violent physical players, it just strikes a little fear in offensive players. Whether people like to admit it or not, they know, okay, I would rather get hit from this guy than I would that guy. It’s just a fact of football. So, Kendrick Faulk to Tennessee. Um, you look, they need help at edge. They need help rushing the passer. They need help. They could actually get Jeffrey Simmons some help, too. Uh, on the defensive line. So, I like Faulk. Next up, number six. Let’s see. Washington Commander going Ruben Bane. See, Ruben Bane is someone who I find very intriguing for the Jets here, right? Obviously, but uh, you know, the Jets aren’t up yet. So, Washington clearly needs some pass rush. Bane has been one of the best defensive players in football, right? That’s or in college football, you know, when he is like you can tell there are just games where he’s on a mission and he cannot be stopped. And one thing one thing that I’m always hearing like a negative with with with Ruben Bane is like, oh well, the two games he was quiet in were the two games that Miami lost. That to me is a positive, man. Like that shows his worth. that shows his value on this defense where if hey if he just so happens to not have a great game if he doesn’t show up and the Hurricanes are losing of course it’s obviously not all on him but you see that point constantly thrown out by like draft insiders well he had a quiet couple games and the Canes lost because of it I think you know look I’m sorry that Ruben Bane couldn’t dominate every college football tackle that he’s went up against every week you know like you can still be a really really really good prospect, really intriguing prospect and not be Aiden Hutchinson, right? Ruben Bane, I think the big knock with Bane not really being talked about all that much right now, but at the combine, it’s looking like he’s going to be one of these uh edge rushers with shorter arms, right? Somewhere in the 32 range. Um that could hurt his draft stock, right? Just being real. But you look at the power, you look at the production, you look at how again important he is for Miami’s defense. I think him in a 4-3 defense. Uh very intriguing. Very, very intriguing being able to set the edge. He’s one of the best run defenders in college football as well. Uh so I really like Ruben Bane and I’m selfishly hoping his stock drops a little bit uh so he can be on the board when the Jets are there. uh assuming that you know New York is not picking top three. So yeah, it’s uh it’s going to be interesting. But I do like the fit with Dan Quinn’s defense here with um you know, Ruben Bane. Wow, here we go. Here the New York Jets are going with Arizona State wide receiver Jordan Tyson. Wow. I was thinking that we were going to see maybe Ty Simpson’s name pop up here. Um or Peter Woods potentially, but it’s Jordan Tyson here, wide receiver, Arizona State. I think if you insert Jordan Tyson into this lineup right now, we would be a lot better offensively as far as just overall explosion, overall creativity. Defenses can’t just solely key uh key in on Garrett Wilson. Tyson gives you the uh flexibility to do really whatever you want when it comes to Garrett and Tyson on the field at the same time. Tyson is a fantastic route runner. You feel like he wins 50/50 balls despite him not being like a 6’5 like traditional boundary wide receiver. He hurts defenses in all three phases, short, intermediate, and long game. He started off the season on fire, but he’s cooled down as of late. 61 catches, 711 receiving yards with eight TDs. 6’2”, 200 lb. Explosive. Again, he could get open by himself, which I really, really like. when Levit was healthy, you could tell that there was a clear maybe push to get him the football a lot and defenses knew that and they couldn’t really slow him down. So, here’s my big thing with Tyson though, right? And by the way, from uh like a financial standpoint, it also makes a lot of sense because you’re paying Garrett a ton of money, not in 2026, but in the future. Shout out to Darren Mushu for that contract, right? Because it we still have that extra year of Garrett on his rookie deal. So, the big money with Garrett won’t hit until, of course, the future. So, from that standpoint, again, eventually you’re going to be paying uh Garrett a lot of money, but Tyson’s going to be on a cheap rookie deal. So, you’re looking at Meti, you’re looking at Adidai Mitchell. That’s going to be a very young, cheap, controllable wide receiver room for this Jets squad for, you know, Garrett’s on a, you know, he’s going to be under contract until 2030, you know. So then you factor in Tyson, that’s a 5-year deal, 2030. Adai I Mitchell on his rookie deal. Matchi’s a restricted free agent. I want to bring him back. That’s a young, controllable wide receiving core for the foreseeable future with a lot of talent, man. A lot of upside. I don’t think a single player that I just mentioned has reached their uh, you know, their full potential. Here’s my big knock with Tyson, though. The injuries kind of scare me. Will the Jets be better with Tyson? Yes. Will they help out whoever’s, you know, will will Tyson help out whoever’s playing quarterback? Yes. But I got to be honest, the injuries kind of freak me out a little bit with Tyson. If we’re just being real, he had the season ending knee injury. You look at what happened last season. He had the broken collar bone. This season, he’s dealing with a hamstring and it’s just not really going away. You know, in the words of Kelly uh Kenny Dillingham, my my buddy uh covers Arizona State. He loves it. uh you know, loves the program, loves the valley over there. Kenny’s like just Kenny Dillingham is such an awesome coach, but um Dillingham has kind of been talking about this hamstring as like this lingering thing. Like again, it’s just not being put to bed and he’s missed about a month. So, we’ve had three seasons now where he’s missed uh like extended periods of time. Metife turf, you like you have to bring it up, right? When we’re talking about skill position uh guys here, that’s the only thing that freaks me out. But if if Tyson’s 100% healthy, this team is really going to be boosted offensively. So that’s going to do it for me. Just kidding. We have a second first round pick. Let’s scroll down and see who he has the Jets going with here. It should be somewhere in the 20s. Wow. So he’s going corner from South Carolina here. Brandon Cece. He is one of the I would say bigger risers this season. uh right now. I think I I I I rec I think it was Mel Kyper who had him like as that fifth or sixth corner uh in this year’s class, but I would not be surprised if his stock continues to rise because he’s projected like if you watch South Carolina, he from an athletic standpoint, it is pretty damn impressive, right? Downfield speed. He can hang with wide receivers again covering in the deep parts of the field. He’s played on the outside. He’s played on the inside. He can rotate two different wide receivers. I actually think he’s had some time back at safety. He’s a former NC State transfer and um you know again down downfield speed is one thing we know how heavily look how you know heavily critiqued that specific skill is you know what’s your 40 time what’s your 40 time it’s constantly talked about you know Aari Thomas had first round tape last year but he goes in round three because of the slow 40 time um Cece I do I do not think is going to be running a slow 40. Um he’s projected right now to finish top three in 40 time at the combine for a corner. You look at how quick and how fluid he moves his hips. Like from an athletic standpoint, by the way, 6 foot, 190ish pounds, like he checks a lot of boxes, right? Um he can play press. I do think he fits the Aaron Glenn defense. However, I just don’t know if this is the biggest need. Now, you can push back and say, well, don’t draft for need. draft best players available. The Jets are not a good team. We need better players. Fair. But I think I you know it’s interesting because I think Jets fans look at corner and they say I feel pretty good about the room. Like young guys Brown Lee added to the mix again. Aari Thomas in year one. I’m hoping he gets better with time. Brandon Stevens is or will be going into year two of a three-year contract and he’s been playing really really well um this season. You know, you have Quantz Diggers who’s becoming like a special teams ace. I mean, he’s making so many plays, but in the, you know, small uh you know, limited sample size that he’s had to play at corner this year, um it’s not like he’s been just a complete train wreck. So, I mean, you have four playable options. I don’t really think corner is the biggest You know, it’s I don’t I don’t I really don’t think that Muji and Glenn are like, you know, pounding on the table. We got to figure this position out. We we have to turn around and use this extra draft capital to go, you know, solve corner. I don’t know. I I I think I feel okay about the position right now. But if you don’t follow the Jets like intensely, you’re probably thinking, okay, well, the Jets just moved Sas Gardner. the defense has had, you know, some iffy situations with or iffy um outcomes with Steve Wilks. You know, no Garner, might as well take one of these first and just invest it back in corner so you like you’re solid. I I you know, again, I think from like a national perspective, that’s the take, which isn’t wrong. You know, I I wouldn’t be pissed at the Jets for adding a corner, but I think with other pressing needs and Darren Muji and Aaron Glenn already being here for a season and we’ve seen what Muji can do by adding starters, adding pieces through, you know, kind of random pick swappy types of trades. He’s added talent in day three, you know, with like guys like Malachi Moore and Francisco Malinoa like actually contributing starters. I’m not necessarily pressed with, you know, for drafting a corner up in the first round. That’s just me, though. Uh, and I would love to hear your thoughts down below in the comments section where you stand with the whole quarterback discussion. But the Jets in this scenario would be going with Tyson and Cece. I got to say though, unless, and by the way, this is just a first round mock. Uh, I really want the Jets to target another edge rusher. Now, that could be Quiddyp Pay. Quiddyp Pay is someone who I’ve been talking about a little bit on the channel because I, you know, I don’t want to spoil anything for the offseason, but Quiddyp Pay, uh, he’s one of the guys that I think the Jets should should definitely look at, right? Third rotational edge, I think he’s fits the system really well. Um, so if the Jets maybe sign a guy like Pay where he’s playable, he’s an upgrade, you can now kind of, you know, downgrade Michael Clemens on the roster and you have this threeman rotation between Pay, McDonald, and Germaine. The edge room looks a lot better. It looks a lot lot better, right? But in the event that they don’t go with an edge, I am 100% on board with going with an edge rusher in the first round here. There are a lot of players that I like. You know, some are maybe better system fits than others. Uh but I mean, we talked about Bane before. We talked about Arval Ree, although I think he’s maybe more of a linebacker that can play edge. But who know? I think every defensive coordinator might look at Ree a little bit differently. They might have a different plan for him at the next level and both plans might be good, right? Like from defensive coordinator A compared to defensive coordinator B, both might have solid plans, but they might look completely different. Um, but again, you have those two guys up at the top of the draft. Quincy Rhodess from Arkansas. Maybe the Jets can swoop in uh, you know, top of round two and pick a guy in Roads. someone who I think gets undervalued because of how bad the Razerback defense was this season, but if you look at roads individually, he’s been impressive. Um, you have David Bailey from Texas Tech, who I think nobody’s really talking about in the top 10, but I could actually very well see him being a top 10 selection. Is he more so fit for, you know, kind of that standup 3, four outside linebacker? Possibly. You have Cashes Howell from Texas A&M. He’s projected right now like late first. Um, but he is someone who I I I think I would be intrigued with for sure if I’m Aaron Glenn. And also too, like we think back to last season, like how many defensive rumors there were like linking the Jets to to to players, right? Like you had all those edge rushers constantly being linked to the Jets and, you know, ultimately the team didn’t really do much um outside of adding Tyler Baron to the room. So, you got to think that after a full season, the Jets are going to be interested. And look where Aaron uh look where Glenn came from, right? Detroit, that defense really unlocked when they added Aiden Hutchinson up at the top of the draft. So, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. Thank you guys so much for watching. I appreciate it. And as always, go Jets.

Brugler:7. New York Jets: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
Who will be quarterbacking the Jets in 2026? General manager Darren Mougey has plenty of draft capital to move up for a QB, but it also wouldnโ€™t be surprising to see New York continue to build up its roster, go with a bridge option under center and target a 2027 prospect.
Durability concerns are a part of his evaluation, but Tyson reminds me of prime Stefon Diggs with his ability to create space and win at the catch point.

“23. New York Jets (from IND): Brandon Cisse, CB, South Carolina
An NC State transfer, Cisse has been a riser all season because of his drive burst and vertical speed. Scouts really like the way he easily transitions out of his pedal, which allows him to stay hip to hip in man coverage before getting his head turned to find the football. Cisse is an ascending prospect.”

  1. Im looking for a add to a December in my lifetime where we aren't excited for the off-season, where we are excited for meaningful games.
As always, Go Jets! I always loved wheh you and Tyson from @letstalkjets do shows together

  2. Jets end up with WR2 and no QB ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… This is what meaningless wins do so dont cry and enjoy mediocrity with Tyrod Taylor again 2026

  3. From an offensive perspective I feel like the jets r more ready for a rookie qb than the browns or raiders. I think since the mitchell Metchie trades we have the better wr core then those teams when u insert GW back and have Mason Taylor. Both those o lines r a mess and jets have a line that should get better.

I think if Dante declares that would be huge with 2 good qb options. It sounds crazy but I think jets r somewhat ready for a rookie qb and adress another receiver with a 2nd round pick to get another talented body in the room

  4. Only 1 QB is worth a top 3 pick Fernado unless Dante Declares and heโ€™s another QB with 1 year as a starter he could flop as a pro Jets should go best man available if their guy is gone or trade for more picks

  5. I'd love to see a video of you discussing the possible options for Defensive coordinator next year with Wilks possibly getting cut. This could tie into What Glenn wants, what each candidate would bring and who they may want to draft next year, defensively (and why).

  6. Idk if I'm feeling this mock draft they did. Why get a WR and you got Mitchell with Wilson and A Smith? Jets got Thomas, Brownlee and Stephens at CB… Jets imo need linebacker and safety if you aren't drafting a QB

  7. Not a big fan of this mock honestly.

I really like Tyson but 7 for a WR is much too high for me. With how Metchie and Mitchell have looked at times, i would rather go out and get a veteran like Christian Kirk than draft a WR that high. I wouldnt mind drafting a WR, just not round 1.

Cisse is a good CB but this screams panic pick. "We lost Sauce so we need a CB!" Stephens, Brownlee, and AZ have done just fine. I honestly could see drafting a CB day 3, like 5th to 6th round for depth. But not round 1. No thanks.

Based on this mock i would much rather take Simpson or Downs at 7. Get either your developmental franchise QB or a generational S who is the best safety to come out in decades imo.

And at 23 according to this, i would much rather draft Cashius Howell or CJ Allen. We need edge depth and Howell is a raw but high upside guy with star potential if developer well. And he can take a year to be a rotational pass rusher year 1 with Will and Jermaine still here. And Allen is just that safe high floor day 1 starting LB. I also really like Anthony Hill Jr at LB, but hes more late 1st early day 2 area. Possible round 1 trade down candidate.

But this draft for the Jets i would give a C-. I cant kill it because Tyson you can argue is the best WR in the class. And he would be the future #2 for sure. And Cisse is a top 30-40 prospect dont get me wrong. But there are much better prospects that also target need imo.

  8. With G5โ€™s contract not truly going into effect until 2026 I do think it makes the most sense to stagger 1st round selections on WR especially if Metchie and Mitchell continue to show flashes. Would love to go Reese/Downs and Sadiq and a big 50/50 ball guy in the 2nd or 3rd round.
