Since it looks like Giannis might be moving teams soon, I figure now is the time for the Jazz to cash in their trade assets for the "Big Game" the FO has been hunting for.

I know what you might be thinking: only 3 picks for Giannis? When Desmond Bane was worth 4? Thats fair. What I propose to you is that the value of not having to play Kuzma is basically worth a 1st round pick for the Bucks. Plus, I can't think of any other team where Kuzma might still see play (even if he will just be a crowd pleaser)

Thoughts?

  1. Would probably have to have Ace, Lauri, and 6 future firsts for a starting spot from the Bucks POV. Giannis would be too expensive for us to get, and I wouldn’t do it because Giannis can be a free agent after the rest of this season and next

  2. There is no way this makes any sense for Bucks. Are they gonna build a team around Turner and Lauri as the stars? No. They can get a buttload of picks and young players from other teams. Probably none of those picks in this trade are worth much. If Jazz gets Giannis, then they must be a good team in 2027. Lakers will still have Doncic.

  3. These types of trades are always awful for a team like the Jazz because we are basically “renting” the superstar until they are Free Agents because 99% of them wont sign a full contract with us.

  4. It would take significantly more, in picks and players.

It also doesn’t make much sense. As great as Giannis is, we’re not 1 Giannis away from being a contender, and we wouldn’t have the assets left to become one after acquiring him.

  5. If we’re getting Giannis there is zero reason to get rid of Lauri. He and Key are important pieces if we’re aiming to compete right now.

Milwaukee will want young pieces and picks. Kessler, Ace 3-4 picks and salary filler is the bare minimum I’d expect.

  6. This is the type of trade you make 3 years from now if our young core is panning out. Like analogous to what the Rockets did. We’re just too early in the development cycle for it to make sense.

  7. He does not want to come play here. He has mentioned it a ton that he would like to play in a large market like New York or LA

  8. I think Giannis would be smart to consider the jazz, though I’m sure that’s wildly unlikely.

In the universe in which that did actually happen… I think you’d keep Lauri and send out the young promising guys (ace, key, brice). This passes the trade machine if you include nurk and kyle (and of course a million picks.

I’m sure bucks fans would be unimpressed but it’s better than most teams will be able to offer
