With the news about the clippers waiving CP3 and the drama coming out, there are more voices calling out for them to rebuild. They are currently 5-16 and are allegedly having a huge leadership problem.

Getting rid of CP3 is already looking to be a big problem for multiple reasons. But from our perspective, the pick(s) we secured from the Harden trade could be better than we originally thought. We knew the 2028 Clippers 1st had potential to be a high pick, but things this season have only seemed to increase our chances of getting a lottery pick.

2028 of course is still several years away, so this could all be for nothing. However, having the Clips’ 2028 first (unprotected) and a 2029 pick swap (1-3 protected) could be huge.

  1. They don’t have much reason to tank. OKC has their pick this year as well. I expect them to be very active in free agency to keep this pick from being super valuable.

  2. I would give them the 2029 swap and a role player for our own pick back this draft is generational even if you get the 7th pick

  3. Yup, that pick is invaluable to us at this point. Sixers don’t have many trade assets (no pick this year). It fits alongside our maxey-mccain-vj window as well.

  4. It’s a great value pick right now but so much can change in two years AND balmer is the richest owner in the NBA. He hasn’t been smart with the cap but it’s clear he is willing to circumnavigate that to get what he wants

  5. So we have 6 2nd round picks in 2028?….I would definitely package that for a 1st

  6. So much can happen in two years so it’s tough to get super excited about it. But at least they have a first that year and they’ve drafted pretty well. I doubt it will be the same front office by that time though.

  7. They could go crazy

Embiid + Grimes + Drum + clips pick + clips swap

    For

    Zubac and Kawhi

Those picks are worth the MOST to the Clippers than anyone else in the league. Lets get them to take Joel to run as their tank commander. Maxey is amazing now, with Zu and a relatively healthy Kawhi they could go far.

  8. Elton Brand would have ended up giving LAC the unprotected pick. People love to hate on Morey, but things could be so much worse right now.

  9. but if you pay attention to this sub, trading Harden to Clippers and not paying him was the worst mistake a GM has made in 50 years.
