It’s As Bad As You Think Oilers Fans…
Hey friends, this is Dolan TV. I’d say glad to have you aboard tonight, but uh you see it. The Edmonton Oilers. Ah, come on, man. try to build any momentum in what direction whatsoever and instead the one guy that you can’t let win the hockey game in that fashion wins the hockey game in that fashion in Jasper Walstead who’s I mean having a meteoric rise right quick out of the gates here this season for the Minnesota Wild and that’s not at the fault of Stuart Skinner who was one goal worse than that man all night and unfortunately Jasper Walstap finishes the job and uh well He gets the shut out for the fourth time in the last six games started for him. All right, where do we begin? Well, we we have a lot of plays to go with this one. So, friends, if you are new to the channel, consider hitting that subscribe button here on Dolan TV tonight. Uh I’m going to hit the Copium Trail. That’s what I’m going to do. I don’t know if you know what Copium is, but uh you saw the thumbnail. I’ll flash it again here. This is absolutely an Oilers’s nightmare. Uh the problem with saying that, the problem with owning that is the fact that you also have to account that the Edmonton Oilers are the Edmonton Oilers. And in saying that, Jper Walstat looks absolutely brilliant for the Minnesota Wild and they’re flashing on the 2021 draft day uh trade revisited. Zavier Borggo and Luca Musenberg are ultimately the draft picks coming back for the 20th overall pick which was Jesper Walstat. The toughest part here is I’d love to say you know man Jper Walstat would solve all the Oilers problems right now. Jper Walstat was the solution we should have had all along. If not Wyatt Johnston man this Oilers team would be absolutely unreal if we had either of those guys instead of Zavier Borggo. And I get the sentiment. I get the you I get that we missed out on that. I get the, you know, it sucks that our drafting was so terrible. It sucks that our GM and scouts were just awful at what they did. Sure, whatever. Blame whoever you want for what this is. The worst part is this is the Edmonton Oilers we’re talking about. and whether you know Jesper Walstat is what he is now for the Minnesota Wild and he does that for us in some other parallel universe or you know uh he’s exactly like Stuart Skinner. we would hate the guy all the same and he probably doesn’t end up becoming what he is today for the Minnesota Wild on this heater simply because he’s an Edmonton Oilers goalender and it’s it’s tough to say but I mean it doesn’t matter who we’ve drafted it doesn’t matter unless it’s a gimme pick right and even when it’s a gimme pick look at Taylor Hall and Neil Yakov or those bunch um you right it just doesn’t matter for the Oilers they find a way to screw it up somehow someway and just not translate what is great upside, great potential into a great player. And I mean, yeah, sure, we’ve picked a lot of duds. I get that. But, uh, I think the hard part here, like I’m saying, is just understanding that, yeah, we could have picked Jasper Walstat. Does he turn into the guy that gets four shutouts in six games in 2025, 2026? Probably not. And even if he does, we’ll just kick him out of town a few years later because we get tired of his shenanigans anyhow. So, I don’t know. It’s uh it’s tough because again at the other end of the ice is Stuart Skinner who loses this one one- nothing after winning a hockey game four nothing. And like I said off the top the one guy you couldn’t afford to let win this game in this fashion is Jper Walstat. Well at the victim of Stuart Skinner. And you know it’s it’s not Skinner’s fault by any means. The Oilers lost tonight. I think Jasper Walstat by every metric was brilliant. But I think as well, you look at an Oilers team that just can’t put the goal scoring consistency together, right? I mean, this is a team that third best in the league on the power play entering the game and 11th in the league in goals and it’s just come on guys, at some point we got to start piling in goals and I I get that a goalie gets hot and beats you sometimes, but that’s been, you know, maybe the excuse one too many times over the past three years, especially early in the season. And I’m sorry you have that many shifts late in the game with Conor McDavid, Leon Dryel, and Zack Heyman out there. You have a power play to end the game. You have five forwards on the ice with an empty net and Bard in the final 40. You got to come up with a result at some point. And it’s just getting it’s getting old. It’s it’s really getting old and it’s it’s something where you we should have been talking about, you know, that’s two in a row and here we go. the Oilers are all of a sudden getting going and instead just the way it goes as an Oilers fan. I’m not talking as the Oilers, just the way it goes as an Oilers fan, you know. Okay, looks like we might have something brewing here after the Seattle Kraken game. The Oilers did the job, you know. Again, so what? Seattle’s the lowest scoring team or whatever in the NHL. You still have to win the game if you’re the Oilers. It doesn’t matter if and or but you still have to win. They do. That’s great. Awesome. Now, let’s go into Minnesota. Minnesota’s riding pretty hot this year, but hey, you know what? We just came off a big big win. Let’s go get a second one. And you play a game that is pretty dang tight. But as far too often this year and in the past three, four years when it comes to this part of the calendar, you didn’t win. You weren’t on the right side of it. And I mean, it’s frustrating as hell. And again, like I’m saying, the the worst kick in the nuts about it is the fact that Jasper Walstat’s the guy that gets the shut out for the Minnesota Wild. Now, I will say the saving grace as a long-term Edmonton Oilers fan that can remember back to those early years against the Minnesota Wild in 050, 06, 06, 07, 07, 08 is the Wild were a nightmare team to play. I mean, there was just not a good game the Oilers ever had against the Wild, specifically in Minnesota, but especially just at large. And now you’re looking at it from an Oilers fan perspective in 2526. And the Wild might just have this monster behemoth of a goalender on them again. And that just does not bode well for us getting away from, you know, kind of the hard set that is this night where it’s just you should you should come up with a result and instead you just get absolutely stonewalled at every turn throughout 60 minutes and I mean the Oilers piled up what 30 plus shots tonight. So uh not a lack of an effort there from the offense but they just are incapable of finishing off any sort of job tonight against the Minnesota Wild. And like I said, credit to Jasper Wall stack, credit to the Minnesota Wild. And they get a goal from Yonis Broaddin. So it’s like again, right, are you talking about a great goalcoring Capri off firing you up a few hundred times? No, it’s just Wild. The Wild get that one extra and we just can’t muster anything. And that’s kind of where we sit a lot of the way through this season so far is even when we do get great goalending, we still aren’t finding ways to win. And yeah, here we are, right? just on another losing end of a game here trying to rationalize why it’s maybe not the end of the world or for me tonight just sitting here saying man I’m tired of feeling crappy after every single game that you know the Oilers are close in and can’t close out because one reason or another whatever excuse you want to make and I’m sure already by the time you’ve gotten to this video I’ve got about five comments that they’re blaming Skinner for the loss despite the Oilers not scoring a single goal tonight and saying that Jper Walstat should have been the goalender tender for the Oilers at this point and it should have been us shutting them out and all that. I I like I said, I rambled on about that at the start of the video simply to prove the point that I know how things go for the Oilers and expecting Jper Walstat and some parallel universe to have been the answer here. You’re putting too much faith in the Edmonton Oilers as a hockey team to do that. So friends, that’ll close it out for me here tonight. Again, great great if you have argument points, whatever you want to argue in the comments section, sure, let’s go. But for right now, uh it is truly an Oilers nightmare tonight against the Minnesota Wild as they just can’t close it out against a team that uh again, you know, historically we’ve had problems against and here tonight we just have problems against a goalie we once upon a time could have drafted. Have a great night. Enjoy yourselves. We’ll talk tomorrow.
The Edmonton Oilers once upon a time passed on Jesper Wallstedt, and tonight he shuts out the Oilers in a spectacular effort for the Minnesota Wild.

Mcdavid needs to shoot the puck, passed on 2 prime looks again tonight
PP hasn’t been effective this year. Couldn’t blame Skinner for this one. Oilers need goals.
Take solace in the fact that Samuel Jonsson and Connor Ungar are in the pipeline for this organization…..hopefully they’re the tandem two years from now during McDavid’s final year on his contract after time in the AHL they will both probably be receiving next season.
What was Kenny smoking hiring Campbell and letting that guy go. A monkey throwing darts at a board with some draft photos taped to it would have done better.
Jesper Wallstedt is the real deal. Wallstedt has the potential to be the next Andrei Vasilevskiy or martin brodour . Oilers missed out big when they passed on him for Xavier Bourgault
That said ( 6:55 ), I watched an Oiler PP that had featured so much passing that IDK if they even got a shot on goal before a shot by Wallstedt down to the other end of the ice. The so-called “getting goalied” excuse is just that. Among goalies who this NHL regular season have played at least three games, I can’t think of any who have stopped every single shot they have faced.
It’s just so frustrating the goalie they passed on is playing good. Ken Holland what were you thinking. I knew this day would come to give us pain. Passing on Wallstedt pissed me off so much and now look I’m mad again. What’s with this organization and goalies they are to afraid to get goalies spend on goalies trade for goalies. Every year we’re having the same discussion GOALIES. I’m sick of it. This has been an ongoing thing for years now. This team needs a goalie a starting goalie. Wallstedt would have been that guy.
The Oilers are so soft. The oiler coaches get outcoached all the time. They not fun to watch. The team has no personality.
I'm not an oilers fan but occasionally tune in to this channel just to enjoy the rant. It should be called Rantynny TV.
Too much playoff hockey will burn you out
😪😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Jesper is the FIRST Rookie in 60 years to hit 5 shutouts in his first 10 wins!!! Vezina? Calder? Both?
Jonas Brodin shut Macdavid down! And had a Bouche Bomb of his own…
He'll of game…..you refuse to admit..realize some has to win someone loses…..it the way games go……dam good game….realize it….go on with life
Hey man, good show, I like poppin' on and checking out your Oilers takes. As a fervent Wild fan, this run with Wallstedt has been nothing short of amazing. It's aided heavily by players like (Edmonton's own) Jared Spurgeon going 245 mins without a 5v5 goal allowed, and Eriksson Ek shutting down the NHL's elite players night in and night out. Last time the Sharks played us, Celebrini's expected goals for % against Ekker was 3.1% and Celebrini was on a heater coming into that game… it's just what Ek does when he's healthy and playing. The Wild are just playing the right kind of hockey right now, and doing it with an all AHL 4th line due to injuries. But I feel your pain, every time things are going right in Minny, we have a meteoric collapse, and with the storied history we have as Canada's 11th province, the no Cups part BURNS. It hurts, and while we hold the NHL lead for making the playoffs the last decade, we're constantly getting the boot in round 1 and it sucks. Anyway, I hope y'all get thinks turned around and make another run, I dunno anyone in Minny that wasn't pullin' for you guys the past few playoffs. We basically cheer for the Wild first, and when we get booted, any Canadian teams. Freaking Florida with Stanley Cups, that's like putting mustard on a pinecone, it makes no damn sense. Good luck to your squad, except when they play us, and thanks for the entertaining content!
If we drafted him he would be out of hockey by now. 😂
How can a goaltender improve if every game is not his fault?
I am an expert hockey analyst and I say the oilers are bad cause they suck!!!
You are going to lose a lot of fans if you keep over reacting and creating titles for your videos that make no sense!
Just a pathetic depressing team rn…mcdavid 1 shot on goal the whole game…right on mcdavid…
It’s about that time when the Management Team, built on NEPOTISM, fires another Coach…trades more players. The problems certainly can’t be with the BRILLIANT son of Scotty…could it be? I wonder if anyone in the media ever asks the owner why he allows a Country Club of sons, brothers, friends and associates run amok? Oh, where does McDavid’s Agent sit in this House of Cards? He’s the lead dog!!! Is this not the definition of insanity? Things will never change as long as a fool…albeit a very rich fool…owns the Franchise.
Get the d in order the defensive game has overall be trending up the last 4 of 5 games. Its been building. They will score goals.
December 1-31/25 – get 2-3 games over .500.
Make the big run in January with 11 home games and 4 road games.
Jesper seems like the real deal. Glad to have him with Gus the Bus in Minnesota..Hope they make a difference..
The oilers making the playoffs. lol
Yall lost to the wild lol
Why didn't the Oilers grab Carter Hart?
Edmonton actually played really well against Minnesota. They had over 30 shots on net, they played a hard hitting game, and even defended very well, which has been their biggest issue so far this year. They only had a couple turnovers but recovered quickly from. Wallstadt just shut them down plain and simple. So please tell me what they did so wrong. Personally I think you just lost a lot of respect from people. It seems as though you don’t really know what you’re talking about.
the Wall of St. Paul yes but certainly don't forget Brodin – for some reason he has had Mcdavid's number his whole career. McDavid looks totally mortal 1 on 1 with brodin.
You can Thank Ken Holland. a absolute phoney "Yesterday's Man"! I said it the day Katz thought it was a good Idea to task Bob Nicholson to hire a GM, Who in their right mind thought BN had the know how to do a proper search and hire for a Cap Era proven GM? Nope he defaulted to what all phonies in the NHL do, he hired his ole pal. If you are going to justify his credibility in saying 'He won a cup"….. That was in his early days, then you should also say, look what he did in Detroit in the last 8 years. They are still digging themselves out from Hollands incompetence. So look what he done with a team with the 2 best offensive talents in decades?. As a GM he did not shore up his scouting staff, he didn't inventory his talent poll not only in the big team but in his farm system. He was blinded by the glitter of having McDavid on his team. Hi did hire, to put in charge of some of the most gifted players we've haven't seen in decades, the grinder from the desert , Dave Tippet!!! And refused for too long not to remove him. When EVERONE not only in oiler land but the hockeyworld in general where all screaming.."We need a GOALIE" …. well you know were we are today. Lost our 2 best farm team prospects, because he didn't do his job as a GM to secure our prospect that are close to making the big team. He traded away a Goalie pick when we are goalie poor. But he thought it was a great idea to sign a castoff from the leafs, who they did not want , nor didn't ANY TEAM in the NHL want…..It goes on and on…
Eternal doomer. Lighten up, lot's of hockey to play this season!
I’ll take losing 1-0 over 9-1 loss.
when do we get the dolynny origin story? from the rock to the patch?
