A cinematic recap of the Broncos’ overtime win vs. the Commanders | Sights and Sounds

And a very pleasant good evening everybody and we welcome you to Landover, Maryland tonight. It is Sunday night football and the Denver Broncos are on the road to face the Washington Commanders. We are bundled up as it is a cold damp evening here in Landover, Maryland. Uh lots of folks wearing parkas and uh caps on their head as uh the weather is a bit chilly. It is to be expected this this particular time of year. Chris, these are a couple of crowd multiple Super Bowl winning franchises. Similar stories last year, right? You know, Denver, they had a great year. They thought that maybe it would be a springboard and it has been. They’re 9 and2. And now the Broncos and Shawn Peyton are openly talking about being the number one seed in the AFC. What do you like about this team? A lot. But on defense, I think the fact that they lead the league in sacks, pretty good place to start, right? But to win the Super Bowl, it’s going to mean that Bicks is going to have to have a big year. He went blow forblow with Patrick Mahomes and won that football game. I can’t wait to watch him play tonight. Washington won the toss. Defer the option. You’ll get Bon Knicks and the Broncos on the field first to begin [Applause] and the first gives to the rookie RJ Harvey. Good run. You can hear little Front fans in the house. B step in the pocket has a ball that is thrown in the middle. Peday catches it and squares and we’ll get enough for the first down. Play fake for Nick sets in the pocket. Throws a ball that wide open receiver and a diving catch is made and a first down at the 21 yd line. That catch by Troy Franklin with Jonathan Jones on the coverage. An attempt of 26 yds for Will Lutz. It is good. Mario turns hands to Debo Samuel. Samuel is engulfed. That was Huanga off the edge who came flying in and Debo Samuel almost as soon as he took the hand off had number nine in an orange jersey on top of him. Juck and snap pressure loads it up. Home run ball down the right sideline. That ball is caught now actually into and out of his hands. Incomplete. That was Jaylen Lane. And good coverage there by Riley Moss. And the Commanders are going to have to pump this football away. Play fake and Mario sets in the pocket. He looks left now climbs the pocket in trouble and now throws the ball away and it’s going to be intercepted by Dre Greenlaw down the sideline. Green law cuts back inside the 30 yd line. Greenaw with his first interception as a Bronco and the Denver defense stops Washington from scoring. Bo play fakes on fourth and one throws a ball their wideopen receiver. This is Adam Troutman. Spins out of a tackle. Troutman’s got a first down still on his feet. traveling down the sideline and forced out of bounds with a big gain on fourth and one. An attempt of 26 yds for Will Lutz and it is good. So the Broncos on their third drive have their second score of the game and we’ve got a timeout on the field. Denver six, Washington nothing. Mariota hands to Rodriguez Jr. who burst right through a big ball right guard and steps into the end zone for a commander touchdown. I tell you what, Rodriguez Jr. had a full head of steam with 55 to go and Nicks protected underneath and complete for the first down. Bob Miller heels off to tackle Mims time here. Good protection. Finally Ingram on the connection. Wagner the tackle at the 37 yd line and that slap brought in to the 25 yd line with the first target for Courtland Sutton on the night. Nicks finds the pocket. He throws on the run pass at the goal line caught. Touchdown Denver Courtland Sutton. Boy, when you see this replay, Bo Nicks makes an unbelievable throw on his way down to the ground. 11yd touchdown strike. Knicks to Sutton with 23 seconds to go. The Broncos in front. [Music] Mariota back in the end zone. The right side. ball is with a one-handed catch. Touchdown Washington. That was an unbelievable catch by Trayon Burks. The coverage there by Riley Moss was excellent. Pressure coming from Washington. Picked up. So Nicks takes off to the open space. First down. He plays with experience way beyond a secondyear quarterback. Those 61 starts he made in college. Bo in the pocket throws to a wideopen receiver who drops down and makes the catch at the 30. That is Courtland Sutton. But a third down and 11 completion. Nicks to Sutton for 32 yds. First down Denver. Bo throw right side. That ball caught. This is Pat Bryant. He’s on the loose. Bryant inside the 10 with a first down and goal. There’s the rookie Pat Bryant. We’ve seen it so many times. Knicks turns. Hands to Harvey. Harvey left side into the end zone. Touchdown Denver. Third rushing touchdown of the season for the rookie RJ Harvey. Denver brings four. Mariana throws to McLaren. Sir Certan Blankening. Good job by the Broncos defense after the interception thrown by Boicks. So it is third and 21 from the 25. Mario buying time throwing for Z down the middle. He got it and it’s out. Ers had it and as he came to the ground he got punched out. Incomplete. 12 seconds left. You want to take a shot the end zone and just going to throw it over by the cheerleaders. And now they’ll go to Moody to try to tie the game and send it to overtime. And so we are headed into overtime on this Sunday night matchup from Landover, Maryland. The end of the fourth quarter. The Broncos and the Commanders are tied at 20. Mentioned it’s been a minute for Denver since they won an overtime game. They’ve lost their last five. Their last overtime win was the last Monday Night Football game of 2015. They beat Cincinnati. Takes a snap. Fourman pressure. Go in the pocket. Stands tall. Throws the ball. Wide opens Ingram. Ingram’s on the loose. Evan Ingram steps out of a tackle inside the 10. Evan Ingram with a catch and run of 42 yds. Dropman comes in motion. They hand it off. Big hole left side. Harvey to the goal line. Touchdown Denver. Second rushing touchdown of the game for the rookie RJ Harvey. Mario’s best play of the night was that last one. How he got that ball off. You don’t get pass interference unless you get Mario scrambling around and somehow making that play. Long drive, 11 plays, 65 yds. And here we go for two. Win or lose right here. These two teams have given it to us. Washington’s lost their last six. Denver’s won eight in a row. Those streaks come down to this snap. Two-point conversion. Denver with the blitz on the way. Ball deflected by Nick Bonito. And the Broncos win it. Great play by Nick Bonito. He came untouched off the face side of Marcus Mariota who was backpedaling trying to buy some time. And the Broncos in overtime have beaten the Commanders 27- 26. That’s 10 and two. Let’s go. We keep finding a way, man. Each time there’s a little bit more grit built up. That was a great team win. All right, we keep building, man. We got something special, but that is the journey. I’m proud of everyone in here. All right, fantastic job today, man. Proud of y’all boys. Caracos on three. 1 2 3

Take a look back at the Broncos’ 27-26 win over the Washington Commanders with this week’s Sights and Sounds.

  1. One game at a time and maybe we can also take that #1 seed from the Patriots. It definitely helps in the playoffs because it’ll give players extra time to rest and heal up. Plus as a bonus (SKIP the first round of playoffs)/ ELIMINATION and 1 game Home-field Advantage.

  2. Thank you for keeping the Von Miller clips to a minimum. It still breaks my heart to see him with another team. He should be here. 💔😔
