But if you watched those teams in some of their bad seasons it felt a lot different imo.
The anger people have this season happened a lot more often on the bad seasons under Cowher and Noll.
Not be rude but google does exist, and yes that stat is correct.
It’s obvious that we need a new coaching staff but this comparison shit is annoying and unnecessary.
The whole cowher comparison is survivor bias because bill left for personal reasons and wasn’t around long enough for us to know how fast things would go stale.
Noll’s teams were awful at the end, just like MT. It’s just a sign that it’s time to move on. Cherry picking certain stats and using red vs green number text to highlight one slice of reality adds nothing to substantive criticism of MT.
You can do the same with SB wins. Noll 4, Bill 1, MT 1. Do both BC and MT get red text there too?
Fucking dumb
Yes, and he’s also holds the 3rd longest tenure after a championship win of any coach ever. As in, how many years he continued to coach the team after his last SB win.
Halas, Noll, Tomlin.
Each coach pretty damn good in his own right.
I prefer not to be singularly minded when comparing them.
All I know is right now Tomlin is not helping this team. And the team doesn’t respond to him anymore. And his approach seems to be “just bring in old guys who used to be great.”
Unless you have a franchise QB under a rookie contractr, that’s an obvious sign of “welp, it was a good ride.”
Pay the man, Shirley.
And let’s not forget that Noll got playoff wins with Mark Malone and Bubby Brister at QB. Cowher got playoff wins with Neil O’Donnell, Kordell Stewart, and Tommy Maddox at QB.
Should’ve moved on after Tomlin’s 5th mid season collapse last season and got Mike Vrabel
So you are saying he pulled a back to back chuck and now its time to win 3 more superbowls?
Following this sub is worse than watching the Steelers get crushed on Sunday. Same crap every day
Interesting that Tomlin has never won a playoff game without James Harrison or with TJ Watt.

Why do you think we’ve been complaining for the last 5 years?
We want wins. Not empty promises and excuses.
Some historical context (post-1970 only):
* The unbeatable record-holder in the post-1970 era is Marvin Lewis. 16 GODDAMN YEARS WITH THE SAME TEAM, AND NEVER WON A PLAYOFF GAME.
* Jeff Fisher went his final 12 seasons without a playoff win — and in anti-Tomlin fashion, only 2 of those were WINNING seasons. Truly a master at holding a job he didn’t deserve.
* Marty Schottenheimer coached his final 11 seasons without a playoff win — and in Tomlin-like fashion, only 2 of those were losing seasons. And I’ll take the opportunity to say that Marty should be in the hall of fame because you don’t go 200-126-1 and have 17 assistants become head coaches unless you are an exceptional talent. He was just exceptionally talented at having the 8th-best team in the NFL.
* Or, instead of looking at successful coaches, you could look at the other end of the scale. Marion Campbell scraped together 9 seasons without MAKING the playoffs, or even getting close. Romeo Crennel, Dan Henning, and Jack Patera each collected 7 years’ worth of paychecks without a single playoff berth. Bruce Coslet coached 9 seasons and lost the one & only playoff game he reached. (Norm Van Brocklin went 13 years without making the playoffs, but most of those were pre-merger.)
List the QBs
Yes but also Jesse James caught that ball, the Steelers should have won that game, and very well could have won that super bowl with the killer bees, and that kinda throws a wrench in this narrative
Look it up buddy. There’s something called the World Wide Web.
Side note. I had that jacket Cowher is wearing. God I miss that style
AFCC game 2016.
Shazier injury in the next season.
Ben injury in 2019.
Backs into the playoffs in Ben’s final season. Loses to Reid and Mahomes.
Backs into the playoffs with Mitch, Kenny and Mason. Loses to Josh Allen with TJ injured.
Goes 4-2 with Fields, 6-2 with Russ to clinch a playoff spot early on. Loses to the 2 eventual SB teams. Limps into the playoffs to face the hottest team in the AFC. Loses to the best RPO combo in the history of the RPO in the NFL.
Where and when was he expected to win a playoff game in the last 8 seasons, let alone make the playoffs?
Yes, because he’s garbage and should have been fired years ago.
Knoll went through the 80’s and still was able to win a playoff game within 4 years. Cowher took a team led by Neil O’Donnell to the super bowl. Tomlin is by far the worse coach of the three.

Probably
Offhand I think so.
