[Music] In today’s NBA gameplay, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for a highstakes showdown with Brandon Ingram and the surging Toronto Raptors. The Lakers hold the second spot in the West while the Raptors trail close behind at fourth in the East. Can Los Angeles take command early, or will Toronto push this one down to the wire? Watch the full video to see how it all unfolds. [Music] [Music] we have here in the front court break. Here we go. Yeah, each of these teams are anchored by their big men. I think it’s going to be physical and highly intensified. Now, let’s check out our starters for the Los Angeles Lakers. We’ve got Hatchima, Luca Donets out there with Austin Reed. Then it’s DeAndre Aton and it’s LeBron at the power forward position. Here’s Eightton tried to bank it in, but he misses. Barnes outside. Barrett against Reeves and it’s Ingram missing. That is some tough defense there against one of the better finishers in our game. [Music] That’s Chimera against quickly. Donic feeling it out and he gets the basket. Officials blowing the whistle. So a chance at the line for one more. Manuel. Tell you what, guys, that’s not an easy finish, but somehow Donic makes it look rather effortless. Lakers shooting their first free throw of the night. Donic at the line for one. [Applause] That free throw good from Donic. And really, Clark Luca Donic is a oneman wrecking crew on the offensive end of the floor. Yeah, he really is. I mean, he’s special. his IQ, his size, the way he can make shots against tough defense. He’s got the lean back. He’s got the crafty moves. And I think he’s a lot stronger and a little more athletic than people give him credit for being. I mean, without a doubt, he’s one of the most unique and best players that we’ve seen in the game. Reeves against Barrett. Here’s Donic and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. That one on Yaka Ple. Look, I know he runs the point, but boy can Dantage go to work inside. And this is his second trip to the line tonight. [Music] What’s up [Applause] That free throw good from Donic. Luca Donuch is a superstar in this league and it continues to build on what is going to be some kind of resume when it’s all said and done. Has every tool that you need to have to be an MVP one day. Now here’s Ingram. He’s looking for Purle and finds him. And that is textbook perfect. The bounce pass. Exactly how you want to throw it for Los Angeles. They’ve gone two or three here to start off the game. Inside and it goes out of bounds. Last touch by Purle. Yeah. Gets a finger on it but just can’t quite come up with the steal. Clearly a careless pass. He got away with one there. [Applause] Just about two minutes into the game. First quarter of basketball. Pass to Eaton. Back to Reeves. Five to shoot. Hatchima finds Donic. Fires for three. And no good that time. And it’s the Raptors ball trailing by two. Barnes against Donic. Hurle sets the pick for Barnes. Buries the long range jumper and good to get him going early. That that shot should give him some confidence. Perhaps he’s set for a big night. I mean, he can be a difference maker for him when he’s on his game. And here we go. Here’s Quickley. Drops in the breakaway layup. And that’s how to make an impact with defense. Once the steal is made, you know they’re going to be scattered. And the Lakers have possession. It’s a three-point game. Reeves outside. Back to Donic. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. And here’s LeBron outside. Knocks down the three ball. Well, you know, defensively you try to keep LeBron out of the lane, but then he drops that on you. The Raptors have gone four of five from the field so far. And the timeout called by Darko Royakovic. He’s going to have a discussion here on the sideline. [Applause] number two and here everybody get the Lakers on D. Now here is Purle and here’s Ingram from the arc. Honic grabs the miss. Hashimura with it. Picked up by Barrett. A put back. Great positioning on the put back. A towering presence on the offensive glass. Aiden uses his height well to keep possessions alive. Quickly kicks to Barrett. Here he goes and no good. Some solid defense from Clark for the Lakers. Their last two seasons ended in playoff losses to the Denver Nuggets. And I tell you what, they fought hard both times, Kevin. The point differential was only 24 points over the four games in 2023 and just 11 points in 2024. LA actually led most of the five game series, but weren’t able to advance. Barnes against James. Makes it off the glass. James has got five points so far. A monster down low. LeBron James the rare package of skill, size, and athleticism. Raptors have gone five of eight from the field, shooting over 62%. Here’s Purle. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. That one on eight. This is his first trip to the line tonight and not the guy you want to see at the line too often. Season numbers has him in the bottom tier of the league. And because he struggled with this free throw shooting so much last season, I thought he was hesitant at times to be aggressive. Um wasn’t looking to draw contact and was trying to avoid getting to the foul line. Good. That free throw no good. Boy, Purle is a massive guy. Somebody that uses his height exceptionally well to get high quality looks. He hits the second from the line and Reeds has got the ball here for Los Angeles. Let’s check in with our reporter David Aldridge. Thanks, Kevin. Spoke earlier with Dark Oyakovich. Now, he highlighted the problems that come along with facing a center like DeAndre Aton. Coach said DeAndre impacts the game on both ends of the floor. He can score inside, shoot the mid-range jumper, and defensively he can protect the rim and switch out on the perimeter. Certainly a talented young center. Back to you guys. Thank you, David. [Applause] And here’s Donic from the arc. Crimes the three-pointer. He’s got nine. The guard attributes on display there. Luca with one of the quicker releases you’ll see in the game. Raptors trail by four. Outside Barrett and there’s the whistle. Illegal screen. But beyond the leaning, you could see his feet were set on that screen. Easy call. Yeah, I agree. You know, sometimes that can be a tough call for the refs to make, but not that time. It was easy there. Walter, he’s checked in for the Raptors. Pass to Hatchima. Reeves outside. Back to Donic. Here’s the three. missed it. Shooting 50% at three for six. Toronto’s gone one or two from long range in the first quarter. And Barrett swings it in. And you see the edge Barrett plays with attacking the rim with bad intentions. Here’s Donic. Nine points in the game so far. [Music] played in with a nice touch off the glass. Donic has got 11. And obviously his momentum from the last game has carried over here tonight. And you know that’s how it goes with him. I mean his hot streaks guys don’t last minutes, they last days. Here’s Purle after Luca Donuch’s bucket. Now Purle. and foul on the shot. So, he’ll get a chance at the line. Boy, I like the way Purle uses his seven foot frame. So skilled in how he earns calls, draws fouls on his way up with the shot. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach so far that we’ve seen for the Lakers? Tons of points off penetration so far, guys. They’re driving at will on the defense, just taking whatever they want. One other thing they’ve done really well, moving the ball around. They’ve done a nice job not settling for that initial option and making that extra pass. No good on that one. Dicks checked in for Ingram. Hayes checked in for Los Angeles. Marcus Smart comes in for Donic. and he can’t hit the second. We passed year 20 for LeBron James. But Clark, how is he still doing this? Well, I’d love to find out, but he’s got a combination of remarkable DNA and obviously a tremendous work ethic and attention to detail and taking care of his body. But some of it is it’s a blend of um good fortune and a lot of hard work. But he’s played at a level at his age that I never thought I’d see in basketball. It’s different in other sports, but to do what he’s doing on the court is amazing. And JJ Reick is called timeout. And coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. [Applause] the Lakers in the lead. Smart with the ball. Reeves outside down low. Poke loose. Here’s LeBron. misses his second shot in four attempts from the field. The Raptors have gotten seven of their first 10 attempts to fall so far. Excellent pace to their offense. Walter good. And he likes to get in a rhythm early. Nice triple. [Applause] LA has gone two of five from three-point land here in the first quarter. On the wing, Reeds. [Applause] A shot off that time. Ice D from Barrett. Greg, they’re in a rhythm offensively. Really cooking. And the opposition looks helpless to stop them right now. [Music] Hatchima comes with a double team. Dick can’t get it to go. And Reeves has got the ball here for Los Angeles. They trail by one. Pass to Hatchima. And here’s Smart just five to shoot from downtown. And LeBron with the basket. The assist by Smart. LeBron’s got a pair of threes now in the first quarter for the Lakers. Barrett. The pass to Dick. goes up and lays it nice and easy. Digs got the game tied up here for the Raptors. Oh, good balance from Dick. Able to take the contact and still score inside. 153 left in the first quarter of the game. Pass to Hatchima. Smart puts the pick in for Hatchima. James left side and Hayes kicks to James. Nice ball movement here by the Lakers. Barrett dishes to Purle and the dunk by Purle. Hey, look at Purle making it look easy. Dropping the hammer down on the defense. Lakers have gone 50% from the field in the first quarter, eight of 16. James looking it over. Reeves outside. Pass to Hatchima. Back to Reeves. Haves the best to Hatchima. And here’s Reeves outside. And again, it’s the Lakers from deep. And right there, you see the decision making ability of Hachimura sets his man up perfectly. There’s a minute left to play in the first quarter. Here’s Walter. Now Barnes takes a three. A rebound by the Lakers. They can trade two for one here. Would be the right move I believe right now. James with the bucket. And the total package. James is so much fun to watch. Here’s Barrett. He’s got six. Pass to Walter. Back to Barrett. Barnes outside. Wide open. LeBron grabs the miss. Boy, defense non-existent there. But they catch a break as he whips it. Hatchim. [Applause] Reeves outside [Music] Smart [Music] over Dick and again it’s the Lakers. I’ll tell you what, I’m not sure these guys can keep this up. Those of you just tuning in, the second quarter of action is where we’re at right now. And taking a look at Los Angeles’s performance here. What have they been doing or not doing? just stretching out the floor in that first. Uh they had the defense scrambling. And you know what? That’s what happens when you establish your three-point game early. Puts the defense right up against it. Raptors trail by five. We’ve got Walter Brady Dick is out there with Brandon Ingram. And it’s Mamu Kellishi in at the center position. That’s the five out there for the Raptors. And he gets it to go. Ingram knocking down the long two. He’s extremely effective from there. Los Angeles has gotten a success rate of just over 50% from three-point tonight. Four of seven shooting. He lobbs it up. Here’s shed. Pass to Ingram. The three. That one’s all good. Now he’s three for five from the field. Mark, we’ve got some incredible talents in this league and you know how skilled big men are today. Wow. It is something to watch. It really is, Kevin. I mean, you almost feel like every sevenfooter in the league is a capable perimeter shooter that can consistently make threes. Man, the game has certainly changed and I I actually enjoy it. I mean, the evolution of big guys being able to stroke it that consistently is pretty fun to watch. And let’s head over to the sideline and catch up with David Alder. Hey Kevin, we all know the Lakers have to pound the ball inside. LeBron James says we have attackers. That’s who we are. That’s what we do. We’re not shooting 40 to 50 threes a game. We don’t have the luxury of being that team. Working it into the paint. That’s what we’re really good at, Kevin. They play to their strength. They got a lot of strength. Got to do it. Thanks, Da. So, it’s Toronto now after Hookonic’s miss and slam dunk by Ingram. Ingram clearly on the attack there, not allowing the defense to do anything with that dunk. [Applause] Second quarter of basketball, just over a minute and a half played so far. [Applause] Smart deciding where to go with it on the wing. Donic [Applause] and they double up. Donic. Hayes finds James down to five on the shot clock and the basket is good. And his presence as a scorer, it it just has a calming effect for the rest of the team. He’s a fallback option whenever they need one. Toronto, they’ve gone three and four from the floor here in the second quarter. Here’s Shed still without a basket. Ingram left side. Four on the clock. [Applause] Ingram can’t get that one to fall. Well, you know, he wants that one back. I mean, more often than not, he’ll sink that mid-range jumper. Smart passes to Donic. Faves and it’s Mamu Keshi with the rebound to the middle and the dunk by Dick. And those plays can make a difference in a game like this. Well, you know it’s going to fire up, Greg. Everybody on that bench making a statement for sure. I mean, we’ll see if they can maintain that aggressive approach, guys. Here’s Donic. The Raptors getting the bucket. Shoots over Walter and another basket for the Lakers. I know Donic takes pride in being able to produce for his team and he’s doing it at a high level here. And here is Ingram. He’s got nine. He scores his fifth field goal. He’s taken nine shots to get those five. Yeah, you know, he’s slight of build, lanky, and long and athletic, but he still finishes through contact and he’s not afraid to go in there and take the hit either. The Lakers trait. Smart on the wing. Pass to Hayes. Now here’s James. That doesn’t go in. Had a chance though to take the lead. [Music] Here’s Walter. Here’s Shed. Guarded by Smart. Here’s Shed. Some nice ball movement here by the Raptors. Here’s Ingram. Lost contact on the shot. got now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. Hey, I know Ingram looks a little wispy and light, but his strength is deceptive. And let’s get your guys take now on the hustle steps for the Raptors. They’re controlling the pace of this game, pushing the ball up court and getting good looks in early offense. You know, points off turnovers is something else they’ve excelled in. I expect the opponent at least to try to squeeze that orange a little better. [Applause] And here is Los Angeles now. It’s a five-point game. Quickly against Reeds and they double up Donic. [Music] Six on the shot clock. Here’s James. Pulled the shot a little left, but the bounce goes his way. James has got four points now in the quarter. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the D. Yeah, that’s not the defense you need. You got to be tougher defensively. Near the three-point line, it’s Ingram. And again, Toronto no luck. Lakers trail by three. Now Reeds to the inside. Here’s James. And James throws it down. Oh, an aggressive move and fantastic finish. Trying to send a message with that slam. I think that’s exactly how you send it. Two hands and down. Ingram outside to the paint. He’s looking for Purle and finds him and he comes up with the deuce. Purle’s got seven. Major muscle from Purle just bully balling the defense with his interior game. Lakers have gone four of eight so far here in the second quarter. Pass to here’s Laabia. Oh, Reeves in position throws down the alleyoop slam and you could see him give a little nod and then just burst to the rim for the alleyoop slam. A pair of teammates, Greg, with a terrific feel for each other. And I tell you what, guys, that’s a big play to make in a close game. Potential momentum builder there. Clark, what is it about Austin Reeves style of play that makes him such a good scoreer? I love the fact that he can change pace with the dribble. You know, he’s not super fast, but he’s not slow either. What he is is shifty and smart. He’s got good size, good ball skills, and he’s got a nice mid-range jumper. All of that allows him to keep defenders off balance. Now, here’s a [Applause] and no good. Had a chance to take the lead there down low. Here’s Aashi. James defending. Whistle blows. Bucket is good. He’ll have a chance at the line to make it a three-point play. It’s on Bronny James and he’s got his first chance at the line here. You know, this is not an area where they expect him to contribute. You know, he’s a guy that shot below 70% last season. And, you know, with this free throw percentage being where it was last season, it changed the way teams defended him. I mean, there were no easy baskets. He was going to get fouled anytime he got near the rim. U they were going to make him earn his points at the line. And the free throw no good. Enzo will bring it up for the Lakers. Hatimura. The pass to James. takes the three and that one’s good. Hatchimal. Hatchima’s got it all tied up now for Los Angeles. Just solid with the jump shot. Hashimura helps your offense in a number of ways. In that case, spacing the floor. Pass to Barnes. Purle with us. Screen on LeBron inside and the dump by Purle. Terrific accuracy on that pass. That’s how you lead your team there. Thank you, Scotty Bar. LA’s gone five and nine when they put up the three-point shot tonight. To the middle. Here’s Reeds and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. It’s on RJ Barrett. Yeah, way to play an attack mode and get to the line. And you know, the defense gets their money’s worth on that foul, stopping the layup and not giving up the and one. Free throw good. Reapers making a change here. Dicks checked in. and Reed drops them both. Already a very confident player. Knocking down those free throws only fuels that. Here’s Dick. He’s covered by Hatchima. Barnes against James. Back to Dick. Five on the clock. Hurle with a screen on Himura. Dick can’t get it to go. Well, they’ll be happy with that look even though it didn’t fall. You know what? That’s a confidence shaker for him, though. I mean, that’s a shot he expects to make every time. Now, here’s James. 12 points for him. Eight. A screen on Barnes. Latrey. Rebound by the Raptors. And the great shooters know when they’ve got enough opening to go for the three. I didn’t think it was a bad choice on that possession. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. 158 left now here on the second. LeBron kicks to Himura. Back to LeBron. over Barnes and it’s James missing. Toronto’s gone three of six tonight when they’ve let it fly from downtown. Barnes finds Dick. [Music] Purle sets the pick for Quickley. Puts up a three. He gets hauled in by Los Angeles. Eightton’s got rebound number five here tonight. Pass to James. Payton inside. Hurdles there. Back to LeBron. Just five on the clock. Fires the three and Purle pulls it down. Purle’s got rebound number five here tonight. And foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. That’s his first personal and at 67 Barrett with terrific positional size which allows him to create problems for defenders down low. Barrett taking two shots. First free throw is good. And the Raptors making a change here. AI’s checked in. And the Lakers also making a change. James has checked in. And so Barrett nails both of them. So it’s the Lakers now. [Applause] James dishes to Eightton. Lakers working the ball around now. James outside a screen on Barrett. And here’s James outside and the basket for the fourth time from the field. He’s a healthy four for six. Defensively, there was a lack of aggressiveness and it really made it easy for him to knock that shot down. Abaji the pass to Barrett. [Applause] shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. That one on eight. Nice pump fake there. Barrett isn’t all effort and athleticism. He pays attention to his craft. The Raptors have missed four of their eight free throws up to this point. Things not really going their way at the line yet. And and their free throw percentage as a unit last year, 76% right around the middle of the road. And you know, whenever they get into a stretch where it looked like maybe they would turn it around at the line, they would immediately take a step back. [Applause] And so Barrett nails both of them. Lakers trail by three. James kicks to Hayes. Back to James. Greavves with the screen for James. Over Barrett. He hits the back iron and sinks the shot. James has got 11 points. Brandon Ingram, he’s been the guy making things happen for the Toronto Raptor. And so quickly will bring it up for Toronto. They lead by one. So for the Lakers right now, Austin Reeves out there with Luca Donic. Then it’s James. Then it’s Ruy Himura. And it’s Aon in at the pivot spot manning the middle. Now Reed after Brandon Ingram missing on that last three-point [Applause] [Applause] Toronto shooting about 59% from the floor offensively. They’ve been running without a hitch. Pass to Barrett. Screen by Purle. Takes the 13-footer and he drops that one in. Barrett’s got his team on the board first here in the second half for the Raptors. Reeves the pass to Donic. [Music] Barrett against LeBron. And two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content. and LeBron the only player to reach 40,000 points in his career. Clark, you’re shaking your head. It’s incredible, isn’t it? Absolutely remarkable, Kevin. And I did not think I would see it in my lifetime. 40,000 points. Just the sound of that is ridiculous. And you know, he not only has lived up to the hype that has followed him since he was 15 years old, he’s actually exceeded it, Kevin, which is crazy. Free throw good. LeBron. The feel LeBron has for the game. Unreal. Whatever situation he finds himself in, he always seems to have an answer. [Applause] So, he gets them both. About one minute played here in the second half. Now here’s quickly. Ingram outside going inside grabs the miss. Los Angeles has gone six of 12 from outside. A very nice 50% mark. Shooting the three ball well for the lead and the layup is up and in. Hachimura’s got five. You you have to push Hachimura out of there if you’re the defense. He’s a real problem on the interior. Right now, let’s send it over to the sidelines and get a report from David Aldridge. Kevin, thanks. If you think Luca Donic makes amazing shots in games, you should see his trick shots. It’s legendary stuff with his teammates. Luca says, “I’m just making them up. I like to have fun, so sometimes I just try some new stuff.” And of course, Kevin, he always feels like they’re going in. Thank you, Da. He is a magician with the ball. He a very creative mind and it’s fun to watch. And here is quickly after Luca Donic hitting the three. Ingram against Hatchima from outside the arc. And again, Toronto with the triple. Well, I think it’s big whenever Ingram connects from distance, especially though when answering back like he did there. [Applause] Barrett against Reeves. Eight a screen on Barrett. Reeves, that’s a two-pointer and Purle pulls it down. Purle’s got six rebounds now in the game. Here’s Barnes out to the wing. Purle against Aton. Six to shoot. Purle dishes the Barrett out to Ingram from past the arc. Eight for 15 with that main basket, but he’s not satisfied yet. You know, Ingram is somebody you have to watch closely on the perimeter because he’s improved his outside shot so much since coming into the league. Lakers trail by five. Reeves the pass to LeBron. LeBron sets the screen for Hatchim. Oh, Aton in position. He takes the alley pass and dunks it down. I love the play call. Aiden’s a wellcoordinated athlete. You know, he has the reach. Give him a chance to go up and get it. And DO Ryakovic calls timeout. He wants to check in with his team and regroup. You know what to do. [Applause] Raptors leading by three. [Music] Third quarter action and just under three and a half minutes have gone. It’s Ingram on the wing. Basket is good. The assist from B. Ingram’s got nine points now in just the second half. Eighton kicks to Himura. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. Ingram with it. He’s picked up by James. Here’s Barrett. Sinks that one from the post and now it’s an eight-point Toronto lead. That’s all the defense can do. Barrett just appeared determined to score. Didn’t care who was on it. Reeves against Barrett. Reeves can’t hit. Here’s Toronto now. They’re on a 14 to five run here. Pass to Burle. Barnes looking around and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. That’s his first personal first. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for Toronto. Well, you know, for me, the passing has been fantastic all night. Everybody loves watching this style of basketball where the ball moves and players move, coaches, fans, and even us broadcasters can appreciate that kind of action. And another thing, guys, they dominated on fast breaks tonight, outrunning their opponent the entire game. And the first one drops. Walter, he’s checked in for Toronto. James checked in for the Lakers. He hits one then misses the second attempt from the free throw line. The three for Donic. Offensive rebound and at 7 foot one and 250 lbs. Dayton is a handful. Not easy trying to guard him without fouling. Lakers shooting their seventh and eighth attempts at the foul line tonight. Yeah, a year ago though, Kevin, 78% conversion rate from the free throw line. So that’s a nice allaround effort. [Applause] He misses the free throw. And you just have to be enticed by the skill set of Aiden, a 7 foot one behemoth who plays with a lot of physicality and skill on both ends. [Applause] And he sinks the second. Here’s Toronto. They’re on a 15-6 run. Barnes outside to the inside is slammed up by Ingram. Well, no question about it. Ingram is in the zone right now having no trouble getting and hitting his shots. And so Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles trailing by 10. Pass to Eaton. In the corner, it’s James. driving to the basket and the toe by James. The finish was nice, but the setup was better. Yeah, G8, the pick working to full effect before the stuff and you know, not enough help from the defense there to compensate. He gets a clean look and that’s exactly how you draw it up. And Toronto has possession after the basket by Los Angeles. Barnes finds Ingram over James and Ingram with the basket on the assist by Barnes. Barnes has got six assists in the game. Eightton against Purle. Here’s the lob and LeBron flies through the air. Superb timing by LeBron on that alleyoop. And it’s the Raptors ball. They’re on a 16-7 run. And here’s Quickley for three. Bangs home the trifecta. Quickley’s got the lead up to 11 now for the Raptors. And the efficiency is there, but the aggressiveness is really lacking so far. It hasn’t hurt them though. They get it back. Donic. And terrific work on the offensive glass. And he picks up two. Donic has got five points in the quarter. Raptors leading by nine. Barnes outside. Ingram outside beyond the arc. Rebounded by DeAndre. Eightton’s got his eighth rebound here tonight to the paint. Oh, LeBron’s just too strong inside. And one of those players who will not be denied. LeBron so strong inside and you have to like how they’re moving the ball right now. Snappy passes to ready shooters. It’s basketball 101, but boy is it working. Pass to Walter. Toronto working the ball around. Now here’s Ingram. That one goes. Count it. Ingram’s got 29 in the game. You know, you look at Ingram and he’s slight of build and some folks question whether he could be an effective inside scorer in the NBA with every bucket like that. Those questions are being answered. Now here’s Donic. He’s got 18. Four on the shot clock. And here’s James outside. Count that as his seventh field goal. Nine drives. He’s shooting 78%. and he can take over in a nancond. I mean, once he catches fire, it’s difficult to squelch it. Here’s Barnes. Six points for him. Pass to Walter. Burle with the ball. And here is Ingram. Lets it go from deep. Good on the three-point shot. Ingram’s got 32 points and an eye for an eye. Both teams working to stretch the floor. Nothing like answering back. One team gets three, you fire three of your own. Boom. Lakers trail by nine. Reeves right side. LeBron a screen on Ingram. Donic against quickly. Oh, an easy two from Donic. Luca is a massive guard. But he can do damage inside just as easily as outside. There’s a minute 47 left in the third quarter. Donic against quickly. It’s Ingram on the wing. [Music] fires from 14 and it’s Aton with the rebound. LA’s gone into the three-point range four times since halftime and buried two of them. 111 left to play here in the third. Here’s Barnes. That one off the back iron and out. Lakers trail by seven. Pass to Reeds. Here’s Hatton. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. It goes on Brendan Ingram. An absolute beast inside. Love how Aiden uses his size to draw these fouls. He’ll take his third and fourth free throw shots of the game right here. Really can’t criticize the work he did at the line a year ago. 82% on the season. Yeah, those were fine numbers he posted um at the line. It was hard to find fault with anything he did from the strike and he knocks down the first point and no matter what, one of the big positives they can take away from this game is how well they performed at the line. Gabe Vincent, he’s checked in for the Lakers. Marcus Smart comes in for Donic. [Applause] That one misses and so it’s Ingram who brings up the ball for the Toronto Raptors. They’ve led by as many as 11 points. Outstanding decision making by Ingram there working it to the open man. Really good possession. Lakers trail by eight. Pass to LeBron. James outside, drills it from outside. James has got 19 points. Boy, you got to love that assist by LeBron. Toronto with the ball. Here’s Mamu Kellishi. He’s covered by Eightton. Now, Ingram [Applause] over James and it’s Ingram missing. LA’s gone three of five with the long ball since entering the second half and here’s James outside and again Los Angeles with a triple and this is the game plan for him. He’s a big part of their floor spacing and you know what it’s all about the long distance game for him tonight. He’s getting it done from out there. And stolen by Eaton Brandon Ingram. He can do it and does it well. Well, what a terrific game it’s been so far with this fourth quarter sure to bring more pressure packed basketball. They’ve got Ingram. He’s out there with Grady Dick and it’s shed in at the guard position. So that’s the five in the game for Toronto. Donic kicks to James to tie it up and it’s Toronto with the rebound. pass to Dick to the middle. Well, you combine his athleticism with his length and his skill set, the versatility of Ingram, he’s hard to guard against. At the line, number two, Brandon Ingram. Big go. And he makes the first. You know, Ingram is quiet about the work he puts in after practice and before games. U this is a guy who just never stops trying to improve though and that’s shown up in how he’s grown as a player. And the Raptors making a change here. Abaji’s checked in. Both free throws. Good for Ingram. Lakers trail by four. Pass to Hayes. James with it. Buries it from three-point range. James has got 14 points here in the second half. And those are the types of shots down the stretch that win your ball game. It’s Ingram at top the key. Shoots over Donic and it’s Ingram missing and Los Angeles guys shooting around 60% of the night. Amazing work offensively so far. Time running low guys and somebody has got to win this one. Yeah. Well, who knows? We might need overtime in this one. It’s been that kind of a game. [Applause] pass to shed. [Applause] Shot clock at five. Here’s Mamu Kellis Vidi gets it to go from beyond the arc and the Raptors lead by two. And that’s right in his wheelhouse looking to make an impact when it counts. You know, they want the ball in his hands here because they trust him to hit all the big shots. Now, here’s Donic over Ingram. That’s good from Donic on the assist from Smart. 22 points for Luca Donuch. Here’s Shed guarded by Smart. Here’s Ingram. And it’s Lorravia with the rebound. Take what’s available. use the fadeaway when the defender’s there on him and Hayes throws it down and you could see him give a little nod and then just burst to the rim for the alioop slam. A pair of teammates, Greg, with a terrific feel for each other. And I tell you what, guys, that’s a big play to make in a close game. Potential momentum builder there. Here’s shed after the basket by Los Angeles. [Applause] Pass to Ingram. [Music] Who’s back up? Lakers with the rebound. Hayes has got four rebounds now tonight. Aravia passes to Donic. Now here’s James. [Music] and James throws it down hard. And guys, I don’t know that this is the time for that kind of flare in a close game. The important thing is to get the two points, not necessarily the dramatic. Oh, come on. He had to go for that, didn’t he? My goodness. I can’t fault the guy for adding a little flavor to things. I’m fine. And even if he’d done missed it, I don’t mind taking a chance. Spruce it up a little bit. That one’s in there. The Lakers lead is cut down to one. And the bucket from Ingram. Well, you look at the form on Ingram’s catch and shoot jumpers. It’s um textbook. He’s got excellent posture. His hands are in a good position. And most importantly, he’s ready to shoot it when he catches it. Hayes with the screen for James on the top of the key again. Los Angeles. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the D. Yeah, that’s not the defense you need. You got to be tougher defensively. Down low and stolen by James [Applause] on the wing. Donic. Back to James. And it’s Toronto with the rebound. Here’s Abaji. Pass to Dick. Here’s Jed and the Raptors take on two more. You love how each side has risen to the challenge throughout this one. Hey, defense has taken a back burner. Secondary on the marquee, but who doesn’t love a game like this? [Applause] [Music] And guys, that’s not as easy as he made it look. You’ve got to have some skills to pull that off. Well, he’s got plenty of those, that’s for sure. Yes, indeed. Let’s just call him ladder climbing. Ingram outside. fires high post a tad short, but it’s good off the front iron. Ingram’s got seven points for the quarter. Nice play call there down the stretch getting him the open look. Yeah, I put that one on the defense. I mean, they can’t leave him open at this stage. And JJ Reick is called timeout. Wants to make sure everybody’s coordinated and intent. [Applause] Both teams will make substitutions. Time now to turn to our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David. Hey guys, JJ Reick’s message with his team was simple. Now, he reminded his team, keep looking for the deep ball. If the three is there, take it. You’ve done a good job getting those looks, so keep taking them. Back to you guys. All right, David. Thanks. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s a one-point game inside. LeBron steps it home. Hey, I really like what I’m seeing from LeBron here tonight. Keeping it simple. He’s going to the hot hand, which is him. That’s pretty good. Toronto’s gone two for two from three-point land to start the fourth quarter. Quickly looking it over. Ingram against Hatchima [Music] and he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. Ruy Himura picks one up. And let’s take a moment guys to get your take on the scoring so far for the Lakers. They’ve bullied the defense here in the paint. Look at all of those buckets inside. Just hard to defend in the paint. And I love the way they’ve been attacking the basket. I mean, they’ve looked to penetrate every opportunity they’ve had, and they’ve done a nice job doing that. And the first one at the line is good. Both free throws. Good for Ingram. Reeves with it. Pass to Aton. A good finish at the rack off the slick feet and the Lakers lead by three. And this is where Aiden does the most damage inside. feels like he can score on anyone [Applause] outside. Barrett quickly against Donic. [Applause] Barrett and again no good by Toronto. Lakers lead by three. Reeves outside. Ingram with the steel. in the corner. Barrett with it. Ingram outside. [Applause] Pass to Purle. The kick out to Barnes. Just five on the clock. Here’s Ingram. Good. And it’s Barnes picking up the assist. Barnes has got his seventh assist of the game with that last one. Reeves outside shoots over Ingram the put back. He hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. That gives him the double double. 10 points and 11 rebounds. Barnes outside. Good ball movement here by the Raptors and the dunk by Purle. And you see the passing instincts Barrett has. Great at recognition out on the floor. The Lakers in the lead. Outside. No one near James as he lets it go. Drains it from beyond the ark. LeBron’s got 23 points. Toronto. They’ve gone six of 11 since the start of the fourth quarter. LeBron against Barnes. It’s Ingram on the wing. Just five to shoot. Good work defensively by Hatchima. Los Angeles leading by four. Pass to Reeds. Now Hatchim. Now Aiden defended by Burles and it’s Aton missing. Toronto’s gone two and three in the fourth quarter from long range. Good shooting so far. Barrett misses the Bonds over the screen near the three-point line. And it’s Ingram and it falls over the rim and in. Ingram’s got 45 points and such a flush shooter. I mean, he lives with a big shot. And when you throw in like this, watch out. After shooting has been just great in the fourth quarter, 54%. That ties it up. And coming through in a big way. You have to love Barrett there. Taking over down the stretch. Here’s Dashic. [Applause] This one for three and Purle pulls it down. Here’s Quickly and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. You had a foul to give there, but you’d rather not have it cost your team points. I agree. I mean, you would have been better off using it on the floor and not on the shot, but the foul had to come either way, so it is what it is. [Applause] Push on the push on the rebound. He sinks the clutch free throw. [Applause] And he hits both free throws here. So now it’s a two-point ball game. And you just knew he wasn’t going to miss that one. Not with so much writing. Timeout. Timeout. JJ Brend calls timeout here. No doubt he is feeling the importance of this moment right now. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Reeves finds Donic. Oh, Eightton in position. Money Donic so multiaceted a stat sheet stuffer supreme he does everything including dropping down and the timeout called by Darko Royakovic pivotal moment in this game he’s not taken any chances he’ll call on [Applause] [Applause] 46. 6 seconds left to play here in the fourth. Oh, you just love seeing a player with absolutely no fear. Cool, calm, collected, and confident in the biggest moment of the game. Yes. Here’s Donic. It’s good. And what a sensational bucket to bring them within one. Dantic, not afraid of the moment, actually embraces the spotlight. This guy steps up big when needed most. You can probably expect to see him slow it down now. Yeah, I think you want to milk your possessions. And you know what, Ingram is always ready to score in the clutch, guys. He’s a guy you can depend on to give you his best when his best is needed. And JJ Bren calls timeout here. The magnitude at this juncture in the game clearly warranting a timeout. [Applause] Here’s [Applause] Donic. Count it. And that shot brings them to within just one. That’s why you give him the rock. Dantic deserves the ball because he can deliver in the clutch. And they go to the intentional foul. Honestly, just doing what they have to in order to get the basketball back. That’s a good foul though. I like that. I mean, clock management crucial at this time of the game. He drops the first one and that will put them up by two. And so both free throws are good. And it’s a three-point game. Absolutely massive free throw. That’ll force them into a three-point attempt. Donic against quickly buries the triple. And oh, that was an enormous three-pointer. Just straight tricking the defender with the shot fake. This is how it’s done. And Darko Rayakovic calls timeout. And he knows there’s no room for mistakes and wants everyone on the same page. Here’s Ingram. Shoots off the step back. It’s in. Really nice job moving the ball around that time, picking apart that defense for the win. Oh, then shot on a chance, but no good. Ends with a big win by Toronto in a tight game.
