Leafs LOSE to the Caps… RANT.. It can’t continue like this… NEED A TRADE?… Auston Matthews… REACTION

All right, let’s have a chat. Leafs lose 4-2 to the Caps. We’re going to talk about some other things. And I mean, you know what? For people that want to bring up Mitch Martyr, the Golden Knights lost again. They’ve lost four straight. So, in regards to MNER, it’s not perfect in Vegas land. Just want to get that out there cuz I know a lot of people are trying to attribute what’s happening with the Leafs to them not having Mitch Mner. Uh, you know what? I think there’s a lot of different factors here. I will admit I think when you look at the record with the Leafs with or without MNER, it does indicate the Leafs were better off with Mner, but I do think that there’s a lot of factors here. I mean, I sent out a tweet. The fact that you have 10 million plus towards Domi Michelli and Joshua is proving to be very costly, right? I think when you look at the game itself, uh they were out chanced, they were outshot double at at many points in the game. Uh they did not deserve to be in this game. Like Joseph Wool almost stole them another one. Uh, I do think in any regard when you’re up by a goal with less than 10 minutes left in the third, you should be coming out of that game with at least a point. So, that’s a disgrace, that part of it. Uh, you know what, Riley and N with the goals, I thought individually there was some moments for N, there was moments for Matthews, obviously Riley showing his offense at times. Uh, but you know what? You just can’t rely on McCabe, Oel, and Riley for heavy defensive minutes. You just can’t, right? It’s so obvious they’re missing Tanv and Carlo, more specifically Tanv. And yeah, it’s costing them as well, right? Like they can’t get the puck out of the zone. They’re just getting buried. Uh losing track of their guys. Uh and obviously that’s what ends up happening on the tang goal with Riley losing the back pass and um Eastston Cowan defensively, even though I’m going to talk nicely about East Cowan’s line, they they had good offensive presence, but defensively Cowan loses a guy as Chikrin’s kind of making movement to the opposite side and he scores the game winner. So, um, yeah, there was a few things. I mean, again, that that goal against, uh, with Michelli icing it and then it was just mayhem the rest of the way and it ended up being Riley and OL losing their guys along the way. But, uh, you even look at the winning goal, I mean, McCabe uh, again is is on. So, I think when you look at the first Caps goal, you look at that goal, um, Mabe is involved and I don’t think McCabe’s had a great start to the season either. So, um, rewind to that first goal with the Washington Capitals, um, making it a onegoal game. Uh, that’s a that’s an opportunity for Cowan to get it up the ice and McCabe gets stuck on the ice for way too long. So, there’s going to be those growing pains with Cowan. I did make a note that, uh, the Tavvarz, Cowan, and McMahon line were the line that were actually outchanced in the caps. So, they had a positive output for this game. But you look at the line of Matthews and Eisen Robertson, uh they got outchanced heavily tonight. Uh I think it was almost double if not more uh in terms of the Caps chances when they were on the ice versus what they were doing. So uh yeah, the Matthews N Robertson line got caught so many times. Definitely a defensive liability at times in this game. Obviously they had their one moment. Again, Wool Wool’s the story, right? Like if not for Wool, this is a disastrous game again. They’re lucky to be in this one. I thought Nick Wah had some moments, but again, I’m not gonna try to give moral victories here because uh this team is not is not it right now, right? So, you know what? James Myrtle dropped this as well. The Leafs have no regulation wins in their last 10 games and only six all season in 24 games. They’re two six-2 in the stretch. Only Nashville has been worse. So yeah, I mean there’s a conversation here that the Leafs Trey Living needs to call some of these teams, whether it’s Nashville, Buffalo, uh maybe St. Louis, even though they just got a win, and see if they can do a change of scenery trait here. Try to trade some of the guys I just said, whether it’s Belli, Doy, Joshua, create some space. Uh I think there needs to be more mobility in the defense group as well, two-way. Uh you know, they don’t grow on trees, but uh they’re also missing Tan big time to face those matchups and and eat those heavy minutes. So um there’s so many layers here. There’s no excuses. Uh, I would also say uh that the glass is half full somehow still because when you look at the results today as well, Boston lost, Ottawa lost, Detroit lost, Florida lost, Florida lost to the Flames and the Panthers are only two points up on the Leafs. The Red Wings are like I don’t know three I think the Bruins are only like four or five points up on the Leafs. So, it’s still very tight. If you get a win against Pittsburgh Saturday night, you’re right there. You’re knocking on the door. Do I think they deserve to be in in a close spot in a playoff race right now? No. So, I still think they need to make a change. It’s probably a trade. Uh but yeah, things need to change here because fans are getting tired of it. And I think at the end of the day, the players just need to step up, right? It needs to be some accountability. And I also think that if Trey Living can scan the market and talk to these other teams, uh, one swap just to get a bit of an like, I don’t know, a change in the locker room, a change in the vibe and hopefully more progression here because, you know, at the style they’re playing, it can maybe be successful down the line and into the spring, into the playoffs, but if you don’t make the playoffs, it really doesn’t matter, right? So, um, you’re relying too much on your goending right now. You’re getting heavily outchanced and and guys like Scott Lton need to finish those opportunities, right? two breakaways or two times where he’s all alone on net. There’s no excuse, right? Like Scotty’s got to finish those. So, if you don’t finish your chances, you’re not going to win a hockey game only scoring two goals. And that’s the reality. So, I’ll leave it at that guys. Again, I I made some tweets. Maybe Trey Living calls Buffalo or Nashville because I think you need a big splash here. You need something to spark this team. I think and and really it it get more creative because a guy like Austin Matthews just looks off. So, I want you guys to comment your thoughts on that because Matthews just has not been himself before he took time off for an injury and since he’s been back. I know he just got back a couple games ago, but um that’s the reality of the conversation right now. So, let me know guys. Hit the subscribe, like, comment, notification bell.   2. 1st, only rebuild needed was to trade Matthews before july 1 NTC, for Werenski, top 6 frwrd and Clmbs 1st, Fantelli (TOR boy and Knies' NCAA colleague). 2nd, everyone but Trembling and north-south Chief knew that biggest need was top 6 ctr and top 4 RHD, in their 20's, and more botton 6 scoring, why else get rid of holmberg, kempf and jarnkrok? and aston reese, and kerfoot. Instead, the 2 stumble bums brought in more guys who can't finish, an tremblng repeats Clgry notoriety letting star walk to UFA. At lest shanny was fired for hiring those two.

  4. I'm no hockey guru ….what I see if lack of commitment to whatever defensive system is in place. It would also be interesting to see how guys interact in the dressing room. Team cohesion seems to be lacking because they don't support each other on the ice.

  5. marner was a perfect fit for toront he opened up the ice for everyone, so board play was not as imortant for the team, different team in vegas. they miss marner and all who wanted him out cant cope with they were wrong.

  6. Treliving needs to be a north-south team. You need to move players if you are going to continue with Craig Berube because Berube can't coach skill or will less players.
    Leafs need a tall puck moving two way defenseman. Fire your coordinators and hire new ones. Lots of players on Kypers trade list that look like quality pick ups for Toronto.

  7. They should do a ballsy move ( like the Raptors did) and trade Matthews for some good defensive pieces and maybe get some 1st round picks back before he walks for nothing in 2 years. Start a rebuild in a different direction now

  8. I feel like the Leafs need a new offensive core, its like everytime they made the playoffs before they always make it to round 2 at best which is underwhelming. I just feel like Auston Matthews should of never been picked to be captain, sometimes I wonder if his lack of production to what he is capable of doing is because he is carrying more pressure being the captain. What if they trade Matthews and get a good return ? I just find Matthews has always been really good in the regular season and when the playoffs started it's like he's a different player. This year with him being captain he isn't producing like he is capable of and you must think with the pressure, or when there is more pressure games he disappears.

  9. Its a weird season in hockey, as much as I see Matthews struggles, McDavid and Edmonton is also struggling. Just look at other teams lots of teams seem to have problems except for if your Colorado.

  11. Here's what happened, it's pretty sad, Treliving is the most responsible for this debacle. The Marner deal was partially but not all his fault, Nic Roy was a minor compensation but of course, not a replacement. The other trades are not only flops, they're downright horrible. Not only because the players involved have been terrible but it's what he gave up for them. The draft cupboard is empty and for what, Dakota Joshua turtling in a corner, Laughton being is normal 4th line self, Carlo for being the softest dman in the league followed closely by Morgan Rielly??? Macelli, a non factor. All these guys should have been acquired for peanuts because that's what they were worth. There's no way any other GM would have give what Treliving gave for Carlo and Laughton, no one. We're stuck with this clown show and they are getting worse by the minute. Matthews, or should I call him invisible man, has to do something. Nylander just plays when he feels like it…to get his points. Tavares is useless on the road. Morgan Rielly is the worst dman and makes 7.5 million dollars. It's not looking good.

  16. You guys always talking about domi, do you think that maccilie,dacota, yarnkrok and others are any better. Give your head a shake . And yes domi don’t belong on the top lines. But come in man it’s not just domi.

  21. Whom ever you choose to be accountable, the fact is the team need to make different changes. I sincerely hope all Leafs fans are united in one point. The Leaf’s can’t allow Brad Treliving this piece of dumb Shit to decide anything from now on because he will he compound the problems and prolong the issues much longer that anyone can imagine. To avoid Dumb Tree to continue destroying the Leaf’s day by day , I suggest all Leaf’s fan who truly love the Leaf’s to send a message FIRE TRELIVING NOW in all social media to voice out our concerns. Although it might not affect the board decision however we can’t totally rule out it might affect their decisions, is no harm for trying. Is only going take a minute of your time, cheers

  24. If Tanev is out for much longer it is time to rebuild.
    Dump all the wasted picks we spent on the trash, Joshua is a complete no show every night.
    Roy has been useless , bad on defense , horrible on offense.
    Maccelli makes WAY too many mistakes and is too soft.
    Jarnkrok is a waste of cap and we have know this for the past 3 years but yet he is still here.
    Domi is a negative in more games then he is good.
    Laughton is a complete bust 0 points and that was a wasted 1st.
    Carlo was a complete waste of Minten and a 3rd .
    Rielly is a waste of time in his own end, that goal where he was puck watching and his man was directly beside him yet he had no clue!!!!! Rielly needs to go ASAP!!!!!!
    But the worst of all is Matthews is a complet no show every game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This team is screwed just face it they have no chance of even making playoffs with this team as is.

  25. The owners,gm and coach are totally disappointments the team is shit.the culture in Toronto is shit one example media interviewing the back up goalie and trying to goad him in to say the team was shit .someone from this classless organization should have shut that interview down

  27. I ordinarily wouldn’t want to hear about the Sabres making a trade with the Leafs but both teams are desperate for change how about Nylander and Macelli for Thompson and one of the young forwards only thing is I’d worry about Nylander going into the tank because he wouldn’t want to be traded

  30. The players they picked up are a disaster but Statcher has been working good for Toronto either start rebuilding now or do something to salvage the rest of the regular season because at this point I don't see Toronto making the playoffs 😢😮

  33. Matthews is obviously not the same player he was a few years ago. Some are suggesting he is dealing with a long-term injury that might not ever heal completely. Back injuries are often like that. Maybe it's time to trade him and get some assets.

  34. I have been watching this team for decades, recently there has been talk about moving players, trades etc. There is no one person that can come in and turn this thing around. Just step back and look at the big picture for a moment. Mlse is about making money, period. They are worth billions, when they sit in the boardroom and crunch numbers they look at each other and say "Jesus, this is a goddam cashbox". They can afford anything they want but all they need to do is put a team on the ice (good or bad) and they will fill the seats, sell merchandise or whatever. There is no incentive for them to bring in the best hockey people, why would they? They are literally making millions. The only way to put pressure on this organization to win is to put another team in southern ontario, they would have no choice but to get better as hockey hungry fans would flock to the other team. Of course we all know this will never happen as the league and Toronto ownership would never allow it. In the meantime, the product you will continue to see on the ice is "Corporate Hockey". You may get excited by the team once in a while, but long term this is an organization that exists only to make money.

  39. Trade the guys who are available to be traded, even ask the guys with no trade, try to win a trade treebranch, and get back futures. and tank tank tank. Leafs can tank and not even try! Knies Cowboy, Woll, and the guys with the Marlies are Do not Touch. Rebuild completely, its unfortunate that they won't start at the top, but thats politics.

  40. Naww, tank for Keaton Verhoeff. Leafs problem is defense and haven't had a top puck moving defenseman since Salming. Reilly and Kaberle are the closest the leafs have got. Both were/are scared to shoot and were b-teir defensemen. Then hit free agaency this next year and see if they can get a good free agent forward and potentially a replacement for Tanev as i think he's gunna start slowing down.
