GET UP | Bears are good enough to win NFC North! – Greeny on Caleb Williams vs Jordan Love & Packers

Aaron Rodgers pulled off one of his signature m what felt like an hour. Aaron Rogers, no one ever threw a better Hail Mary than he did. Okay, let me talk about some games this weekend. Obviously, the Packers are involved in this conversation and Rogers no longer is. The G, we’ve talked a lot about Dallas Detroit today. The game Sunday at Lambo is everything in the NFC North. Absolutely. The Bears are currently a half game up in the division. That tie always winds up being important. If the Bears win Sunday, they have a 66% chance of winning the division. If the Packers win Sunday, they have a 72% chance of winning the division. And I feel like all of the conventional wisdom is, oh well, Bears, great run. It’s been great, but this Green Bay is really the much better team and all that. And I know you had Ben Johnson on the podcast this week. Something different, it feels to me like is going on there. That was a huge win Friday. They’re feeling well, feeling good. I asked him because they have all these young players like all right is this too big too big a moment and he’s like you have to understand when we built this team this year we went out and we acquired Joe Tuni who’s been through all those years with New England and Kansas City we went and got Grady Jarrett who has a Walter Payeyton man of the year nominee for about a decade in Atlanta we went and got Case Keenum for Caleb Williams so this doesn’t feel like it’s so overwhelming to them in fact Ben Johnson says we got the right veteran guys in every position group where it’s like hey here’s how we’re going to do it here’s how we’re going to roll it out that win. They were celebrating with their shirts off, but they weren’t surprised that they beat the Eagles the way they did. They knew that was coming the way they’ve been practicing. And frankly, Ben was mad afterwards and yelling about their passing game. And we played that yesterday and I loved it. Here’s the other side. At the risk of me trying to get X and know here, I’m looking at you. What the Packers want to do is rush the quarterback. They have Micah Parsons. The best way to combat that, it seems to me, is to do exactly what the Bears did to the Eagles. Absolutely. Run it down the throat. Don’t let them do what they do best. And the thing is is is what Ben Johnson does in the in the elite way they design run plays is it all looks very similar like their play action pass, their passing game, everything looks so it’s going to give Caleb Williams a split second extra because the Packers are going to have to read. Now that means you got to go run the football. You have to establish the line of scrimmage on their side. You got to be physical. You got to do those things. Ben Johnson is not walking in this afraid. He understands if you go hit them in the Listen, they ran against the Eagles who were a very good defense. Epic Fangio defense. They had two running backs who had six yards a carry. That’s a That’s every second down. It’s a first down, y’all. That’s as quick a football win as you can have. And by the way, they ran for a 250. That’s a massive, massive. But this is one of the the reasons why football is so beautiful is that it’s interconnected and all that is so fun and good. You can run the ball, run the ball, run the ball if you can stop the other team from scoring. That’s right. And that’s the the thing that I think is concerning about it. I don’t think the Bears the Packers defense is good against the run, so it’s not going to be easy, but they might be capable of doing it. The problem is I’m not sure that the Lions going to be able to be able to keep the Packers from scoring a lot of points early and putting them in a position that they’ve been trying to keep Caleb out of position where it’s just drop back pass and then he has to scramble and make magic happen. And that’s when the turnovers come about. That’s what concerns me more than anything. Here’s what I love about this matchup. If you told me the Bears are going to win this game, I’d say I could see it. If you told me the Packers are going to win, and that’s a wonderful thing considering Caleb has another head coach and you didn’t know how the season would go. Yeah, but at the end of the day, which quarterback do you trust the most, I think Caleb is playing fantastic right now. He still has room for improvement. The fact that he’s playing meaningful games in December is great, but I’ve seen a little bit more of Jordan Love to and this offensive this offensive group to feel like, all right, Jordan would be the quarterback I trust here. But the Bears have all the confidence and that is a great thing for them. Let me get Forbon Bond here from a gambling perspective. What what are the angles that we’re looking at? It’s been nothing but Green Bay money. It’s up to six and a half. The the the power rankings, the Vegas bookmakers, they haven’t necessarily bought into Chicago yet. It’s not to say Chicago hasn’t earned everyone’s respect. They have, but the manner in which they’re doing it. When you go up against Green Bay, who’s been a darling in the eyes of the analytics community for the last two years, this match up here, I’d be looking to Green Bay, they’re going to face each other two of the last three weeks. You guys talk about Green Bay’s defense. Number one in the NFL in scoring defense at home at Lambo. They have been the absolute best. If you’re in a situation where it’s Love versus Williams out here is this though, and it’s I know the head coach doesn’t play the football game. Ben Johnson was three and0 in Lambo as the Detroit offensive coordinator. he stays in the division. It’s not like Ben Johnson’s walking in saying, “Whoa, those lights or wow, Rashan Garrett, I protect.” He knows that team. So, I think there’s a little experience there as well. You know, we had a conversation not long ago about how the Lions, they seemed a little bit ahead of schedule. They made a deep playoff run. They didn’t go all the way. You figured, ah, well, they’re just the beginning of something. That’s where the Bears are right now, right? I mean, the mo the time to claim this is right now. You’re sitting there with that record. You got a real chance. The time to claim it is now. It feels like the league in general is in flux. Uh, everyone has an opportunity, which is normally not the case. Who wants to grab it? Yeah.
