Week in the Life of Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship

I’m Reed Blankenship. And I’m Cooper Deine. And you’re about to spend a whole week with us two. You lucky picked up by Cooper Dine. Touchdown. He’s piled driven by Delet up. What an outstanding job by Reed Blankenship. Gets intercepted. Reed Blankenship picks it off in the end zone. Here we go. 10 yards coming forward. 10 yards. Base position. Find your rhythm. Find your rhythm. Good pad level. Use that block. Tuesday morning, we usually come in. We go out and do a little workout with Coach Eddie. What would you call that? More like on the strength staff. Fundamental like techniques, footwork stuff. Yeah. I don’t really know how to explain it. So, we’re going to go ask Coach Eddie and he’s going to explain it to you guys. Since they just got done playing the game two days ago, what we’ll do today is we keep everything at probably about like a 40 50% range where we work on their movement technique. Yeah, that was tight over there. And again, our purpose as performance coaches is to make sure that they are at their peak and also that they’re available. So that’s one thing that we take pride in. We want our guys to be available. And the past couple years, I think you can say we’ve done a pretty good job of that. Good work, folks. First time. And then Tuesday afternoons, we’ll go home, chill for a little bit, and then we usually film our podcast. Exciting mics. We’re at my apartment now about to film the podcast. This is the background right here. We got this little uh I don’t really know what it is, but it’s from the Super Bowl. And then we got a bedazzled Eagles football. The Coupscrunch cereal. That’s a big addition right there. Just came out recently. Couprunch.com if you want some cereal. Some of the proceeds from the cereal boxes go to the Iowa Children’s Hospital, which is the hospital that overlooks the stadium in Iowa City where I went to college. Yeah, it’s pretty pretty sweet. I never thought I’ I’d have my own cereal, but now I do and it’s a part of my podcast setup. Then we got the green chair that I sit in right here. Got the I mean, this is like a cooler. It’s kind of a makeshift setup, but with the computer, microphone, we got Cooper cheese head that you can wear. I just added it uh to the setup for for whenever we need it. You know, we just played the Packers a couple weeks ago, so it’s kind of Is that good right there or what? How’s my camera look? My camera’s a little high, ain’t it? I know. All right. All right. You ready? Welcome back to Exciting Mics. I’m Cooper Deene. And I’m Reed Blankenship. But we’re back after a prime time home win at the link and we’re looking forward to another great episode. We’re going to start this podcast off with how we do it every single week with what’s exciting you this week. Hold on. Before we get that to that though, okay, what do you got? You got some um I am going to be a dad. Reed’s gonna be a dad. Yes. Yeah. Let’s go, baby. It actually played out pretty well. And you know it, the excitement. Just a dad. A girl dad. A girl dad. I mean, I feel like I fit that. I mean, I deserve a girl right now. So, you excited? Of course I’m excited. Girl, dad. Girl, dad. Oh, boy. I know. I’m so happy. Wild. I’m ju Uncle Coupe. That’s crazy. That is crazy. Actually, on Wednesday, we come in early, get a lift in, go sit in a team meeting. All right, here we go. Right, your coaches have went over your keys. I’m just hitting on a couple of them right here. Defense, this is a really good skilled group, right? And Serriani has a really good team meeting. He goes into detail from a run through of who opponent is and kind of just giving us confidence going into the game. And then we finish our day off with practice. What’s up everybody? This is Brandon Graham. Say welcome back to Inciting Mike. I’m Cooper Jean, my co-host. I thought you’re the top first. Yeah, dude. 1900 ice cream is normal. So, you’d rather eat ice cream rather than like cookies or something? I’m a big cookie. Chocolate chip cookies, dude. Now, Zach Bond, he’s got some bold takes on uh 1 1900 ice cream. Hey, hey, turn out today, baby. Hey, it’s going to turn out today, baby. Hey, have fun. Smash defensive back vibe during practice. I feel like we have a lot of fun. Once we get in that first huddle, everybody’s usually dancing to the music cuz football’s stressful at times. You don’t want to make it too hard. So, just have fun when you’re out there, man. You’re blessed to do this. Yeah. It’s a lot more fun when the guys around you are having fun and playing the game you love. You already know. Hey, stay over top. What? Bro, you said any fouls yet? Describe foul. Have you said any curse words yet? Yeah, I think I’m on the football field. Reed actually does talk a lot during practice. Trying to call out plays as Yeah, we see them when we see on film that will, you know, go on into the game. Box out, please. Hey, be ready. episode’s about to be boring as It’s just going to be you two together all shut up. Got us talking about ice cream. I do like that soft serve stupid. Then we come in on Thursday and Thursday’s usually pretty similar to to Wednesday. A little bit longer though. Ramp it up a little bit. And on Friday after practice, these guys make us come in here and do more media. It’s constant. So we got to do that, too. But we love it. Yes, we love it. So on Saturday, it’s a big travel day for away games. Um, we usually come in and we go over kind of a last big film session, short little walk through. Once we get to the plane though, it’s I mean, it’s time. I mean, as people would say, the haze in the barn, Reed on game day, the closer we get to the game, the more locked in he gets. Um, yeah, you ain’t going to hear from me. He doesn’t really say a whole lot until we get out on the field. Go, baby. Once go. That’s every week. Playing violent. This is our game, right? Enjoy this, man. Enjoy. Gango 3 1 2 3. Sometimes on the field we’ll chop it up, but usually he’s mean mugging and you know doesn’t want anybody to talk to him. So there’s a lot of stuff I got to process, man. Yeah, he’s got I got to make sure I mean I’m kind of going through my head of what I might expect, what I should expect, what fix want to call. Just kind of getting my mental prepared for the game. Presco looking. rolling. It’s intercepted. Reed Blankenship picks it off in the end zone. It’s intercepted. Read by Blankenship. You suck by Blankenship. Can you believe it? Reed Blankenship. That is a brilliant play by a safety. What a moment for him. Speaking about Coupe. Coup’s just like just chilling. Kept towing through the tulips. Don’t really care. Look at me. Like I do care. I mean, you do care. Oh, what a tackle. Cooper Deene. I tell you what, it’s an outstanding job by Cooper Decepted. Cooper Deene has it. I just like to keep it light, you know, but I wish I had that. I just don’t. I’ve never had that. Yeah. Reed got mad at me during the game cuz I tipped the ball in the air and he thought the ball was coming right through. It was. It was. That one nearly intercepted. Best part about being best friends on the team. We get to have a lot of fun together. Oh no. I get hype anytime I see this guy. What was you want to say? Anytime I see this mother come downhill and stick somebody. I always get juiced. Trying to be like you, man. I feel like we got good personalities. Yeah. And like we mingle with a lot of people and like laugh. Yeah. We talk to a lot of guys in the locker room. You know, like to keep things light during the week. You know, we’re messing around, doing whatever. This guy always wants to be around me, so we’re usually out. No, stick your tongue out around you, bro.
