Are the New York Knicks interested in an Anthony Davis trade? We’re going to break that down on today’s show as you are watching New York Knicks now by chat sports and I am your host Marshall Green. Rumors coming out of Dallas are that they would move on from Anthony Davis is the if the price is right as they are off to a very slow start. They have fired their head decision maker and general manager Nico Harrison, the only person that really wanted to trade Luca Donuch for Anthony Davis. And with Harrison out of the building, there’s been some chatter that he could be moved on. There’s even been some chatter from Ian Begley of SNY. Shout out to Ian, in my opinion, the best on the beat. Go give him a follow and support his work. Ian said this. I’m sure the Knicks would at least check in with Dallas if or when Anthony Davis becomes available. You may scoff at the idea, but the Knicks want to win a title this season. If Dallas is offering Davis at a below market cost, I’m sure the Knicks will at least give the move some thought. And I have a lot of thoughts on Anthony Davis as a player, as a fit on the Knicks, and if they should make that move, but I’ll just I’ll make the bed right here. It would be dumb for the New York Knicks to at least not check in. Anthony Davis, when healthy, that is the major word of today’s show, major phrase, win healthy. AD when healthy is still one of the best basketball players in the world. And if the Knicks are willing to do whatever it takes to win a championship, like they said, Leon Rose said after the year after firing Tom Tibido, they should 100% check in and see what the price of acquisition would be for Anthony Davis. Tim McMahon, who works for ESPN and covers the Dallas Mavericks, wrote this. It’s uncertain what the trade market for Davis would be due to his durability issues, although he is still a dominant force on both ends of the floor when healthy. Several league sources were adamant that gauging the market over the upcoming months is due diligence that Dallas must undertake. And I agree and I think AD is going to be a first ballot hall of famer. He’s one of the best players of this generation. He is someone that is one of the stronger defensive players we have seen in the NBA in the last 20 years. He’s an NBA champion and I think that he would take the Knicks to a serious finals winning contendership status. Problem is hasn’t played all that many games over the past couple of years. Um in 2021 played in 40 games. In 2022 played in 56 games. In 2023 he played in 76 games. And last year or uh yeah last year he played in 51 games. But still 24.7 points per game, 11.6 boards, 2.2 blocks per game, and 1.2 steals per game. He is still one of the best in the business at what he does when healthy. I want to ask you this question as we continue to break this story down. Do you think the Knicks should trade for Anthony Davis? Type Y for yes. Type N for no. I want to hear from you down in the comment section. I’ll just start with this. The New York Knicks would be elite on defense if they traded for Anthony Davis. If they were able to keep their core wing defenders of OG and an Obi and Male Bridges and add Anthony Davis to that fold, they would have three elite defenders on the floor. And I think if the Knicks are going to win a championship around Jaylen Brunson, they need to have elite defenders around him. And Anthony Davis certainly fits that bill when he is healthy. Don’t get it twisted, though. But the durability is a major concern. We just showed you the number of games he has played and that puts paint to the picture of the number of games that he has missed as well. But my question is this, is the risk worth taking? As we know due to the new CBA, when you talk trades, you got to talk contracts as you got to nearly match the salary to get a deal done. And this year, Anthony Davis is on the books for $54.1 million. And these are the rest of his yearly payouts over the next two years. He does have a player option of 62.7 million in 2027 2028 and I think he would likely pick those up. Let’s go to this. The New York Knicks have major ties to Kentucky. They have been linked to almost every single big-time player that has come out of that school since Leon Rose and before that have even taken over for this organization. And we know that Worldwide West is very good friends with Anthony Davis. And I know this for a fact. The Knicks, they love Anthony Davis. I also know that Anthony Davis once wanted to be a member of the New York Knicks. Prior to him getting traded from New Orleans to the Los Angeles Lakers, he came out with a list of a couple of teams of preferred trade destinations. There were like three teams. the Lakers and the Knicks were two of them. So, at one point in his time, he wanted to be a New York Knick. Or I guess the way to say it is he at least was open and yeah, he wanted to play for the Knicks. I think you could just say it that way. It would likely have to be a three-team trade because I don’t think there are players that the Dallas Mavericks would necessarily want in a trade for AD. Because if you’re Dallas, you have to think about it like this. Why am I trading Anthony Davis? because I don’t believe I can win right now and I want to use his value to make a trade to acquire value back that’s going to help me win down the line. So maybe a trade where the Knicks trades some of their high price players to another team that is trying to contend and thinks they are maybe a Carl Anthony Towns away and then that teams gives draft picks and future assets to the Dallas Mavericks. So you got to talk about numbers $54.1 million if you’re going to make a trade. Carl Anthony Towns makes $53.1 million. I think a front court of Cat and Anthony Davis would be awesome, but I I believe that Cat would be a piece in that trade. I’m not willing to give up OG and an Obi for Anthony Davis. Obviously, not giving up Brunson. Um Bridges just signed that contract extension. He can’t be traded until I believe it’s late January or early February. Um Josh Hart, you need to add another $38 million or so to get that deal done. This deal would revolve around Carl Anthony Towns going to a third team. And that brings me to this point. As good as Carl Anthony Towns has played in moments, um I have always worried this. I will forever worry this. Is he a fetty guy? When you close your eyes, can you visualize the clock sitting zeros in the NBA finals and the confetti falling on Carl Anthony Towns as an NBA champion? I I do I have a hard time visualizing that. I worry if the Knicks can win a championship with Carl Anthony Towns. I think it’s possible, but I take it a step further. I think you are trying to do as close to as impossible as it gets to winning a title with Jaylen Brunson and Carl Anthony Towns where you as much as we love Jaylen Brunson is a liability on defense. And when two of your five major minute getters when two of your three best players are traffic cones on defense, that’s going to be tough. And I asked myself this question. Would I rather roll the dice on Carl Anthony Towns winning a championship or would I rather roll the dice on Anthony Davis staying healthy? Because I believe if your big four are Brunson, a healthy AD, OG, and male, I think that you are favorites to win the NBA title. So I guess the next question is this. Would you trade Carl Anthony Towns in a three-team deal? Probably with Miles McBride, probably the first round picking a trade this year. Handful of second, some swaps down the line. Would you do the deal? Type A for accept. Type D for decline. I look at it like this. If this is your starting lineup of Brunson, Bridges, OG, Robinson, and Anthony Davis, you have four elite defenders surrounding Jaylen Brunson. And I think that is the type of team you have to put around Brunson to win a title. Or you have to have the best offense in the league. And I don’t know if the Knicks with their personnel can have the best offense in the league. AD Brunson, OG, Bridges, Mitch, you’ll still have heart. Um I I’m not saying I would 1,00% do the trade. I’m not saying 10,000% I wouldn’t do the trade. I’d make a call. I’d see where Dallas’s mind is at. I’d see if maybe we could talk about a trade and I’d really have to sit down and ask myself the question, would I rather roll the dice on cat or would I rather roll the dice on an injury-prone Anthony Davis? Please, at this point I don't even care if he's still injured, anything that gets Kat out of our lineup, we are WORSE every second he is on the floor… I couldn't care less about his points, The fact that the game slows down, No paint presence, No help defense, No shifting, No battling down low, No icing or stunting at the screen (He stands in the paint 4 ft from the basket while his defender is setting a pic at the 3 line every time) list goes on And that's just defense. Were worse on offense While he's in also, awful at pick and rolls, never kicks it out when tripled / never fast enough because he's trying to only hit The shooter to get the assist, forces difficult two pointers And then ref fights instead of getting back.. I could go on for an hour ..LEON, PLEASE TRADE HIM!! I AM BEGGING YOU!!!

But why are we even discussing this according to your logic the Knicks love Kentucky players and didn't Karl Anthony towns attend Kentucky? Other than that stupid roadblock that you brought up I think the Knicks have a better chance of winning a championship with Kat actually playing then add sitting on the bench with a sore Pinky.
