Once again, it’s 100% free. So go down there and hit that sub button. Here is the official news. Daniel Alvarez first on it saying breaking infielder Miguel Rojos and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a one-year 5.5 millionoll deal. Sources tell L Extra Base this will be Rojos’s final year as an active player. And listen to this as a caveat and an added part of his contract. Rojos will remain in the organization beyond 2026 in the player development department. And a very cool thing for the Los Angeles Dodgers to not only keep the World Series here on the active roster for this year as they go for the three repeats, but also keep them inside LA for the foreseeable future. Now, as we continue on and talk about this signing, lots of things to like. Obviously, the first is that Miguel Rojos is back. That’s such a huge thing because in my opinion when you do something what Miguel Rojos did with this team in World Series games six and seven having a fantastic pick to end the game in game six getting the gametying home run in the ninth in the game seven of course throwing out what would have been the game-winning run at home also in that game you have to return to the team that you just accomplished that with he does and he does so for a long-term foreseeable future. But also, forget the big plays, forget the hero moments. This guy is a standup utility guy that the Dodgers can use all over the infield. He is reliable and they’ve been able to really use his war factor. In fact, he’s one of the best shorts stops or in terms of war that the MLB has seen this off season in regards to free agents. And so, um, let’s kind of talk a little bit about what this means and, uh, for Miguel Her Rojas where he can kind of see himself with the Los Angeles Dodgers because obviously retirement was definitely an option. It kind of is a pseudo retirement where he gets to play one more year with it. But last season, a 318 on base percentage, 46 strikeouts in 290 abs. He walked 24 times and he’ll be heading into what is his age 37 season by the time it’s all said and done. Had seven home runs, not including the postseason. Obviously, his biggest one was in game seven there with the postseason. And so for Miggy Row, very excited, very happy to see him back. And a lot of people want to talk about how his glove is such a big thing. And that is very, very true. His glove is a main reason why he probably got this contract because he has been able to play at every single infield position. However, I think people forget how good his bat was throughout the regular season, even though after about the ALDS, they didn’t really use much. But at the same same ideology, there was a bunch of people for the Dodgers organization that did not perform in this year’s postseason. So, we go to the report from Daniel Alvarez, who had this full signing on Alex Extra Base, saying, quote, “His glove has always been his calling cart.” But it’s worth mentioning that in the last two seasons, he’s posted an offensive line of a 273 average, a 328 on base, 404 slug, and a 732 OPS with a WRC plus, which is weighted runs created plus of 105. That’s above the league average, an F4 of 4.5. In fact, entering free agency in 2026, he was the shortstop with the best war among those available this all season. End quote. He does not scream shortstop. He does not scream second base. He is a utility guy, but the fact of the matter is he can play shortstop. And so when you lump him into the shortstop groups for this off season and this free agent market, he said it right there. He is the best. He has the best war amongst any that includes Bob Bashette. It includes the likes of some other top tier shorts stop. Now in terms of positions or rather games he played at the position. He had 114 games last year for the Dodgers. 68 of those were at second base. 22 or excuse me 23 were at third and 22 were at shortstop. Migro is a huge part of this organization and very happy that the Dodgers are going to keep him this season. But I think what’s even bigger is keeping him in the keeping him in this organization past baseball. He’s always talked about his plan and his future of wanting to be um somewhere in the managerial line. Hopefully one day maybe being a manager of his own and it speaks a lot of volume when he wins awards like this. Once again, Daniel Alvarez of L Extrabase, saying, quote, “In 2024 and in 2025, he was recognized with the Roy Kempanella Award, an award that recognizes the player who best exemplifies or embodies the quote spirit and leadership of legendary Brooklyn Dodgers catcher of the 1950s, chosen by the roster members and the coaching staff.” End quote. When your teammates and your coaching staff know that you mean more to this organization than just your stat line, you mean more to, to be quite frankly, to this world than what your stats are. That is a huge thing and that’s a big part about being a manager. It’s a big part about growing your brand as not just a player, but as a person. And so, it’s it’s a great thing and obviously getting the the organization to allow him to be a part of the player development. It says it right here. Daniel Alvarez once again saying, quote, “This will be his first step toward a full-time coaching position in the major leagues or a more senior executive role. Given his preparation, leadership, and intelligence as a player, Rojas possesses the qualities that could lead him to succeed in either of those roles.” Now, we talked a while back about a couple of key free agents from the Dodgers that they want to resign. Miguel Rohos is one of those. The other guy on that list was Enrique or Kik Hernandez. We have not gotten a lot of reports on him specifically because he had an injury that required some surgery. And so with this, there’s not really a I guess an urgence to sign him might be the best way to put that. In all reality, I think he is definitely the next move and he is the utility guy that you want to see and you like to see with this Los Angeles Dodgers squadron. um this past year. Pretty decent stats. His average wasn’t great, but overall he’s a utility guy. You can play him on multiple facets of the field and he works for this Dodgers team. Now, we’ve talked multiple times about guys like Brendan Donovan or other potential free agents or trade acquisitions in that utility role. But because they have gotten Miguel Rojos, I think that kind of takes out Brendan Donovan. I think it kind of takes out some other options to where if you’re going to get a secondary utility guy, yeah, it could be Brenam Donovan, but kind of then makes no point of why Miguel is playing in some way. But if you get Enrique, he’s more of an outfield utility. So you have that infield utility guy and you’ve got that outfield utility guy. And then in that case, you can make the decision on how you want to actually plan out your outfield for so many different reasons. Now, for Kik, I really do want him back. And uh we’ll have some more videos out later kind of talking about the next moves that could be coming from the Los Angeles Dodgers. This seems like the most obvious one. I know he’s injured. I know they kind of want to wait a little bit because really there’s no urgence. Not really. No teams across major league are looking to sign a utility player that is injured in the offseason that had a not great average last year that is also, you know, heading into what is going to be I mean, he’s over 30 by by a good margin or by by right at that margin right now. So, it’s definitely something to look at. But I I do think he is the next move for the Los Angeles Dodgers. But very excited for Mr. Miguel Rojos. But in terms of Kik, I want to know your thoughts and opinion. Do you want the Dodgers to resign him in this off seasonason as well as he’s somebody you’d like to see with the Dodgers in the 2026 MLB season as they go for the three repeat? If you think this is a move you’d like to see, then I want you to type Y for yes in the comment section. If you think that Miguel was the great move and you don’t need Kik or you don’t want to see him with the Dodgers for this reason or that reason, that’s okay, too. Get in the comment section and type in for no. Do you want to see the Dodgers resign Kik Hernandez? Why for yes or in for no? Leave it in the comments. I would love to see him back. I do. I think that does create, in my opinion, a more presence in the outfield of trying to get that lock down right fielder, the guy you can play every single day. And for the Dodgers, there’s been some interesting reports out about how aggressive they were going to be and now kind of how aggressive they are. But to be fair, the rest of the MLB is also not being that aggressive kind of a point to where the Dodgers are kind of just hating hold. We do have winter meetings coming up very very shortly and usually that’s when some things start going around because you have GMs all in one place. You’ve got players, you’ve got a bunch of different stuff that could really really work out to where some moves will start going. That’s what we got for you here today on Dodgers Digest, though. Super excited about the signing or resigning you could say of Miguel Rojos, especially when you add the caveat of him being with this organization throughout his coaching career. now is what we’re going to go into after the 2026 season. So again, really happy for that. We appreciate you watching. We’ll see you next time here on Dodgers Digest. Peace out, everybody.

  1. Two years ago, we signed SHohei and Yoshi. That was big news. Last year we signed Snell and Roki, that was big news. This year we re-sign Miggy Ro and that's big news? What he did was really important in winning the 2nd Series in a row, but he's an aging utility man. Come on…

  2. Miggy isnt just a reliable utility player but so many of his teammates credit him with helping them develop and strengthen their ability at whatever position theyre on. Mookie ,for one, did nothing but praise Miggy when he was brought to the infield. Its great he'll come back next season as a player but I think he'll be invaluable in the organization after that.
