TLDR:

  • The Phillies, Mets, Rays, Orioles, Diamondbacks and Royals are all looking for a new CF.

  • JHL is a fun player, but his defensive metrics in CF really show he needs to move to a corner.

  • Buxton from the Twins has a no-trade but might be available

  • Robert Jr from the White Sox is available but has had two bad years in a row and isn’t exactly cheap

  • Mullins is a free agents. But Mullins isn’t a very good CF anymore and would not be an upgrade

  • Harrison Bader is a good free agent. He was worth nearly 4 bWAR last year.

  • Bellinger is a great free agent, but mostly a corner guy not a true CF

  • The Astros and Rockies could maybe be open to trading their CFs. But those would be very expensive trades.

  • The Red Sox are willing to move Duran, but they would be asking for the moon. The Giants really don’t have prospect capital enough to even consider that.

  1. Bader would work & no draft compensation. Buys time for Davidson and …(other CF prospects)

  2. I believe that I saw some beat reporter say that the team instructed Lee to play more conservatively in center as he was coming off that major shoulder injury. It’s possible why despite his despite his peripherals (~90 percentile arm value and strength, 70 percentile spring speed) his oaa was bad.

  3. Would JHL move to right? Seems like he would make a really good right fielder if something like this were to happen

  4. Not sure why this is posted again tbh…

Lee being CF is not the issue ….. need better SP, and consistent hitting overall to at least make playoffs. Lee didn’t cost them games, it’s the overall team performance. Just because he played conservatively in 2025, doesn’t make him a bad player due to being back from injury from 2024. Yes, his communication with the other OFs would need to be on point due to the language barrier, but he has what it takes to play the premier position. Moving him to a different position would only hinder his adjustment to the MLB level/season. I posted his high rank stats in terms of of leading in double plays , putouts, and one of the top CFs that committed least amount of errors in the NL.
