How the Dallas Mavericks Rookies & Anthony Davis UNLOCKED a Competent Offense | Mavs Postgame

On today’s show, the Dallas Mavericks get a win against the Miami Heat. Their offense is now an NBA level offense with the pieces they have right now. We’ll explain today’s three wins in a row. Locked on Mavs. This is Cooper Flag and you’re listening to Locked on M. I think that’s a good question. Morning. All these changes, you know, I still got my dog Dwight Palver. What’ you see from the Dallas Mavericks tonight? Slightly biased. I see technically the uh the second longest win streak in the NBA. Incredible. We’ll talk about the Mav’s win against the Heat. We’ll talk about Cooper Flag coming up clutch again. We’ll talk about Anthony Davis 17 and 17 hurting his hand again, but we’ll see. Seemed like he came back and was all right. We’ll obviously talk about Nembi taking the Mavericks fandom by storm. Ryan Nemhard and another incredible game from him. Klay Thompson 5 threes in this one as well. Well, let’s start here slightly biased. Mavs get three wins in a row. I told you towards the beginning of the season when the Mavericks were looking really terrible that they would get wins against the Clippers, the Nuggets, and the Heat back to back to back to back. You would be surprised. You would be like shocked. And if I told you that the Mavs had a really good offensive game against the Miami Heat, who are the number four defense in the NBA, you would be shocked because the Mavericks offense is still number 30 in the NBA according to offensive offensive rating. They’ve been terrible. They’ve been bad. And yet now the Mavericks offense has had three pretty good games for an NBA team. Like pretty good for an NBA team, but incredible for this very team right here. And it’s just Ryan Nhard, Anthony Davis, Cooper Flag, Mavs actually making some threes. They’re four and three when they hit at least 16 threes. But they have some semblance of an NBA offense now. And wouldn’t you know it, the Mavs look like an actual NBA team now. Four and three. You said four and three when they hit at least 16 threes. That’s actually kind of a bad embarrassing stat. It’s not good. It’s not good. But hey, like it’s a winning record. This team does not have one of those. Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if you told me they beat the Clippers because the Clippers are tire. Uh but yeah, I mean they’ve looked way better since AD’s come back and uh they’ve also just looked way better when he’s been playing the five and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that you know um Ryan Nimhard has stepped into this role and life just looks so much easier for this team offensively. And it’s kind of funny too because it’s like their defense I think hasn’t been the as good as it was at times um since adding them hard into the lineup. That makes sense to me cuz he is a negative defensive player, but they’re still capable of clamping down and having entire halves like they did against Miami tonight where Miami look maybe the worst it’s looked offensively all season long. So, uh it’s there’s a there’s a decent basketball team hidden in here. Like there really is. That’s that’s it. That’s really my only point today is that the offense is now like up to NBA level because for weeks and weeks, maybe months, you and I sat on this very show and sat after postgames and were like, “That’s not an NBA offense. That’s not an NBA offense. That’s not an NBA offense.” And now here we’re seeing an NBA offense. And you said it too, an putting Anthony Davis at the five and having an actual point guard. Who would have thought that the two things this team was built around not having a real point guard, which even when Kyrie comes back, he’s not like a natural point guard. He’s like a scoring guard that’s was great off of Luca because he was the natural point guard and then Anthony Davis at the five when this team wanted to put two bigs together and all summer we were like all right there’s some advantages to doing this but it really isn’t the best thing for a for a team to do like just play a point guard play Anthony Davis at center. There it is. Yeah. And I mean we one of the things when they were having a really bad uh start to the season was like Yeah. I mean, we’d be a little bit more optimistic because, yeah, the defense is good and stuff, but they’ve really shown us next to nothing to be like, oh, well, they’ve got this and they’ve got this that and we were like, and something would just have to magically happen. And I don’t think we first saw Nimhard plugging in and being this like over the last couple of games, you know, we thought he’d maybe be good, but I mean, we’re talking kind of a historic twoame stretch. I know that’s a very small sample, but a very good twoame stretch from uh Nimhard here that has sort of turned things around dramatically. Incredible stats from Nhard. They’re flying around all of Twitter like he’s the only guy with this amount of points, this amount of assists in one turnover through two games, like since ever maybe. Like it’s kind of wild to watch what he’s doing right now. The stat that I think is hilarious, 13 assists tonight. Who was the last Dallas Maverick to have 13 assists? Easy one. Um, Luca Luca Dodic like a million times. Like honestly, like 30 times. I didn’t know if that was a trick question until you said easy. Was not the Maverick before Luca Dodic to have 13 assists was Dennis Smith Jr. I would have guessed Darren Williams. And the Maverick before that was J was JJ Baha. The Maverick before that was Darren Williams. Ryan Nehard is the last house Maverick to have 13 assists besides Luca since since Dennis Smith Jr. and JJ Berea. Like that is wild to me. First of all, just the Mavericks haven’t had like assist guys since Luca, obviously, but I mean, what an incredible stat for him tonight. He just kind of makes the offense work. He’s playing with real confidence. We talked about it the other day how he just he makes the right decision. He makes the right decision whether he needs to take the shot. Took 10 shots tonight, whether he needs to make the pass. 13 pass 13 assists tonight. Only one turnover. Takes care of the ball, makes the right decisions, and makes them quickly, too. Like is very decisive in the things that he wants to do and needs the Mavericks to do. And man, like I know he’s I know he’s small and that was the reason why he didn’t get drafted, but it’s kind of weird to watch a guy look this good and not get drafted. We see this a lot with these NBA ready guys who for whatever reason their ceiling might be a little uh might be a little lower than other guys because of one thing or another. They’re older or you know they can’t shoot or they’re maybe slower and in Nimhard’s case they’re smaller. But then these guys come in and make an NBA impact. Yeah, I think these teams overthink this all the time. You know, we we talked in uh I think it was in one of our group chats, we were just like, what would they what should the plan be around Coupe? And one of the things I think they should do moving forward with draft picks, whether they get them in trades or whatever the case may be, is like, yeah, going after some high ceiling guys and one of those guys hitting next to Coupe would be great. like just kind of take the Thunder approach, the Grizzlies approach where it’s like, “Oh, this guy has been good his entire basketball career, and you know, maybe he’s a lower ceiling, but he can pass and dribble and he’s smart.” Like, those are the guys I want to pair next to Cooper because that’s who Cooper is. And so, uh, it it Yeah, it’s no surprise to me they mesh super well. And this was one of the things with them hard what we were excited about is because it’s like this guy’s play style feels very NBA ready right now. and uh he’s taken advantage of his opportunity for sure. It’s wild too to watch the these two close games and be the comp competent NBA players that Impact’s winning in the clutch. Ryan Ear who’s been one of the best closers in the league this like we’ve reached that point. He’s by far the best closer on the Mavs so far this season, but he’s been one of the best in the league. At the beginning of the season, we were looking like, all right, who’s going to be the who’s going to be the closer for the Mavericks? They don’t have this top end talent where they can actually close games. They lost all those clutch games. They, you know, played another clutch game where they actually won tonight. But we were looking for one and he was on the team and it’s Cooper Flag. He had another two possessions in a row basically where he got he he hit uh really big shots, another a drive fade away over DaVon Mitchell and then a cut back door and got a shot uh off of an AD dish. And it was against this Miami zone that was giving them tons of problems in the fourth quarter. The Mavs were turning the ball over. Anthony Davis had two in a row. Flag had one where they just tried to break this Miami zone and it didn’t work. I was actually looking at synergy numbers before today and the Mavericks were have been better offensively against zone than man so far this season which I was kind of surprised by and so when Miami threw out that zone I was like oh well the Mavs are good against this and then they were just they just looked awful when when Miami was really going to that zone and they kept it the whole fourth quarter basically and the Mavs struggled but flag got those two plays back to back and it made it brought the Mavericks lead back up to 10 and that was you know a clutch moment for him and had a couple big stops on Wiggins late in the game too. Yeah. I mean, he’s uh he’s something else, man. He he he really is. His confidence is next level. He’s 18, too. Can we do this whole thing again? I know. We only get us like what, nine more games or seven more games until he’s not 18 anymore. I mean, this is the stuff you want to see from your rookie where it’s like, yeah, the numbers will fluctuate and go up and down. Like, that just happens. But then if I tune into games and you’re playing good te like the the Heat, the Nuggets, and you’re the guy who has the ball in his hands late and you’re making plays happen at 18 years old, it’s like all right. I mean, I’ve I’ve seen what I need to see. Like I’ve seen I I know this guy’s going to be a star in the league because he’s I mean, he’s a he’s having a starring role on the Mavericks right now in wins against the Heat, the Nuggets, that bad Clippers team. But still, he had an incredible game against that Clippers team where he put him on his back without Anthony Davis. God, man, that Clippers. Oh, the Clippers are just a disaster in in several different ways. I talked to our locked on Clippers host today and he’s like, “It’s just bad to be a fan.” And I was like, “Well, let me tell you how to get through that.” Coming up, the Mavs rookies impacting winning. Mavs had a lot of reasons that they won this game. We’ll get through them and I’ll tell you exactly why the Mavs won this game coming up. We appreciate each and every one of you for checking out the show. Shout out to everybody that sent me the Spotify rap or the YouTube recap. Uh several of you sent it and had locked on apps and slightly bias on the YouTube recap, which is is awesome. But uh everybody send me your Spotify raps. I think right now the leader in the clubhouse. I saw a Spotify rap with 10,000 minutes listened on it. 10,000 10,000 10,000 minutes listen to Lock on Mavs. Uh, and it wasn’t photoshopped. I did get one that was photoshopped. It said 11,000 minutes and I was like I looked at it and the font was different on the number than it was on the on the normal one. That one was photoshopped, but the other one wasn’t. And then uh YouTube, I think the leader in the clubhouse right now 345 videos watched. There’s 365 days in a year. I know we have had so and we have we’re not even through the year yet. Uh we had we’ve had 379 videos on YouTube so far this season that we have so far this this year 2025 that we have posted on Lockdown Mabs. That’s actually insane. Here we are five days a week every single post game all throughout. And we’re doing bonus episodes. Your math’s off. Five days a week and we’re doing bonus because Isaac is doing another bonus. He’s doing one one more thing tomorrow about the uh Giannis situation and if the Mavericks can get in on that. Uh it may be a short one but he’s still gonna talk about it. Answer no. The Mavs had a bunch of different reasons they won this game and we could start going through them but 50% from three when this team hits shots. I mean that it’s it’s hard to it’s it’s hard to guard them because then all of a sudden they seem bigger. They seem like you know that their drives to rim are better. But their spacing they finally have NBA level spacing. like some of these drives that Cooper Flag had. I was just looking back at at the highlights and just seeing, oh, there’s four guys that are one is in the dunker spot and three guys are on the perimeter either on the, you know, the weak side or there’s one behind it. Like there’s just NBA level space now on this Mavericks team. Yeah. I mean, it comes with uh AD playing the five and it feels like they’ve sort of spaced out their rotations, you know, uh Cayla Martin, I don’t know how many minutes he played tonight. Barely any if I had to guess. Too many. Did I say we played He played three and a half minutes. Three and a half minutes. It was weird. Sorry. I don’t I’m not going to go into that. Got a tech and was miked up. Yeah. I want to hear the whole thing. Give it to us unplugged. What What do we got to lose? Here here it was. Here was Here was the whole thing. Yeah. Here it goes. Hey, coach. Am I coming in this? No, I’m not coming in the game. All right, I’ll go back to the bench. Me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me. You me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me you you me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me you you you you. It’s like the night of the Roxy. But no, uh, yeah, it’s just having I mean, Max Christie is just at this point one of the best spot up three-point shooters in the entire association. U Nim Hard will not wasn’t a shooter in college really, but has shot 40% from three senior year. Yeah, he did on on low volume, but that but like clearly had that in him and has shot well from three this year. I don’t care that it says Niger Marshall’s at 30%. Like I think those stats are lying to me. Like I really do. What in your heart is Naji Marshall’s three-point percentage? 37 like above average. He’s a confidence 47. Yeah, he is. But I think teams like his confidence in team teams kind of have to like respect it a little bit. Uh I mean he was 204 tonight and Klay’s been really good lately. Like Klay has legitimately been very good as of late. Are we ready to say Clay’s back? Yeah. I mean he’s historically been a slow starter. We’ve known this his whole career. I think it’s just the older he gets is just that the thought creeps into the back of your head cuz he was like this last year. The thought creeps into the back of your head where it’s like, well, is he just done though? Like yeah, I know he’s a slow starter, but like that was when he was 27 years old and an all-NBA player like what what about now? Is he still a slow starter? So yeah, he’s I mean I love 12 I just love seeing 12 threes from Klay Thompson. Like I love that. I love seeing that stat. You got to get him up, right? Yeah. I mean that that’s that’s the thing. We’ve we’ve been saying that for years on this show. Well, and we we talked about this when he was struggling where it’s like he h you have to let him. It’s like why it’s so difficult cuz he’s not as high level of a defender anymore and it’s awkward because it’s like he has to shoot these threes even if he’s missing them. That’s why he’s here. Yeah. The best version of this Dallas Mavericks team was going to have Klay Thompson taking 10 threes a game. Yeah, for sure. Because they he needs to because nobody else was going to. And now Max Christie is he doesn’t take enough volume but he’s a great three-point shooter. And you have others that are definitely willing. Flag is not taking the threes anymore. He he didn’t take any threes in this game. Nine of 13 from the field, 22 points. The other thing about Flag’s game, his mid-range jumper, and the way that he was able to get that shot, I mean, was just absolutely awesome. The thing that we saw early in this game, right beginning of the second quarter, he checks into the game. He had two fouls in the first quarter. Gets his third foul real early in that quarter on just a dumb like a just a dumb biting on a pump fake defensive play. and Kid left him in the game, which I thought was important like confidence that Kid had in Cooper Flag to leave him to not get his fourth foul, not pick that up. And then right after that, he had the behind the back pullup jumper where he he dribbled the ball, you know, behind the back, take took a step to the right, pulled up and just that is a play that like we see from SGA, that we’ve seen from like Luca, we see from MVP type players. It was an awesome play. His mid-range jumper has been money. You know, it’s actually interesting about there. There’s this new kind of new philosophy. I was hearing someone talk about it. I forgot who, but a new philosophy with fouls where I think some coaches are going to start hitting the I don’t care if you’re in foul trouble. Yeah. Cuz it’s like what’s if you foul and give and foul at the game versus you’re not out there because we’re limiting your play time. It’s like either way you’re not out there. Uh but yeah, the mid-range that the mid-range ones for him cuz my sort of long-term vision for him is kind of the similar, you know, obviously the Tatum thing comes up all the time, but like the Tatum thing and like he will grow into his body and become like this strong physical force and he already plays like that and it doesn’t make sense to me really cuz I look at him and he’s not he’s he’s not like Scrawny. He’s not like Chad Hongram, right? But he’s clearly he looks like, you know, a a guy who’s not in his 20s yet and is just kind of filling into his frame a little bit. And it makes me wonder what this is going to look like in year five or six when he’s had five or six years of NBA weight training and he’s legitimately able to bully like not just like bully ball like I I’ve got good positioning. I’m putting my shoulder into into you, but like you’re bouncing off of me now. Uh that’s when it’s just going to be like this mid-range game living in this sort of the paint the floater area uh the rim like he’s just I I didn’t think he was going to be this prolific of a finisher right away. I thought that was one of going to be one of his weak spots. The two things that we talked about all summer were his handle and his finishing at the rim were like those are things he’s going to have to work on and yet those have been two of his best skills in the NBA so far this season. The handle the handle clearly needs some work still. Sure. But like that was always known. That’s not Well, we’ve seen him handle against I mean he got guarded by DaVon Mitchell basically all game which I found interesting that Spo had DaVon Mitchell guarding Flag and Wiggins guarding Nemhard. It’s like they set it up to try and for switches and they just ended up just staying on them basically the whole game. Well, I feel like that is probably going to be how Coup’s guarded a good amount by Smalls, especially like the Davon Mitchell types. But he’s done well against him. Yeah, we’ve seen against Assar Thompson, Aman Thompson, Kase Wallace. We’ve seen him against these guys. As I was walking in today, you were talking about him being 18. As I was walking in, there’s a So, Chime is the sponsor of the Mavericks, right? It’s the Jersey. Still no Still no clue what it is. Jersey. It’s not a bank. It’s not a bank, but you do get a card for it. I know. I’m like, what is this thing? There’s a there’s like a a like a billboard looking thing in the in the the pavement in the sidewalk. And Cooper Flag’s holding up a chime card. And you know what I thought as I was walking through? Is he even old enough to get that card? Well, someone, you know what I mean? Like, like six months ago, he was probably like like a year ago, he was probably not old enough to get a giant guard, and now he’s holding up the card. Someone in my chat tonight asked if Cooper Flag’s old enough to curse, but I said, “You know what? I don’t know.” We didn’t have to worry about him in LA going out the night before because True. It works for him. That’s right. Hey, I’m just letting you know cuz I want to take care of my young superstar. If I get any win that he’s out at a bar, I’m calling the uh the police. I’m calling I’m getting your liquor license revoked. Like, it’s it’s shut. Your bar is getting shut down. So, you better deny him at the at the door. Do not serve the Dallas Mavericks rookie. Cuz I’ll be honest, one night I had some connections to Dallas. The Knicks were in town. This was years ago, years and years ago. And we got into this like bar that stayed open past 2 a.m. And I remember Frankie Lina was in there and he was like 19 years old. Uh, I think Alonzo Trier was in there and he was like 20. I was think better than Luca in the draft. Yes. And I was thinking to myself, we could get this place shut down if we really wanted to. We got a lot of leverage. We got a lot of leverage tonight. Man, people forget. People forget about Frank. They do. Not us, though. I don’t. I don’t ever forget about him. Coming up, Anthony Davis fought in this game. I was I’m just continue to be impressed by the way that Anthony Davis uh has transformed this team basically and him playing the five has been great for the Mavs. Tell you why. Thanks for hanging out with us on Mavs. We’re talking about the Mavs win against the Heat. Three wins in a row slightly. Let’s go, man. I mean, what’s what’s your So, we have been in the camp that the Mavs should tank and that’s the best for their future, but after three wins, where are you? I mean, I still think that uh my version of tanking is just like trading away and getting things at the deadline and just letting this team play. I don’t know about purposefully losing games. Uh I mean, going into the year, I was strongly against taking strongly against the idea of it and then obviously they looked the way they look to start the year and I was like, “Yeah, whatever. Just tank.” I mean, you’re already doing it anyways, so like you might as well trade guys. Yeah. Yeah, it’s like they weren’t playing well enough anyway. And I mean they they still are what do you have the the standings but they’re not that far off of the the play in right now? No, they’re a game and a half out. I mean uh there’s not there’s like this clump of teams in the West that you’ll probably find yourself in that will all have a chance to make the play in tournament. Uh and naturally one of these teams ahead of you will get injured and fall out like they we see it every year. So yeah, I mean uh like the teams below you, the Pelicans aren’t going to be catching anybody. Yikes. God, they’re three and 19, man. Jeez. Worst team in the NBA. Worst record in the NBA. Oh, that is un most losses. The Kings will probably actually end up getting worse because I’m assuming they’ll just trade team players. The Clippers are tire. And yeah, I mean, we’ll see. But, you know, I I just think trading guys is probably in your best interest just to recoup some assets in this year. And if even if that means AD, it means AD. But I’m not I’m not doing an AD trade just to do it. You know what I mean? Like it has to make sense for you because he’s a good player. Uh a very I mean he’s a great player and I just I don’t know. I’m not in the I don’t feel like giving him away is like smart at all. Fair. We’ve talked about the reasons why to do an AD trade the last couple of days on the show. We talked about the Chicago potential deal and all that. Anthony Davis in his game though. 17 points, 17 boards, four assists. He did have four turnovers, uh, but had three blocks and a steal. Hit two threes. They should just keep giving him more corner threes. Like more right corner threes because he’s hit him and he barely ever gets that shot. But hey, if he’s going to be a spacer out in the corner, that was that was pretty nice. Both of those threes, he just fights hard and he just makes this team dynamic because the team is not dynamic when they don’t have somebody like him. And yeah, I mean, you’re going from, excuse me, everyone, all Maps fans, you’re going from Dwight Powell and Musa to Anthony Davis. A big it’s a big big leap up in dynamicism, right? Yes. Yeah. The tonight was like a this is why he’s was voted a top 75 player ever and looked at as one of the greatest defensive players in the history of the game. And the like I thought defensively he was unbelievable tonight. Just the amount of times the Heat who are, you know, the Heat run this gimmick offense where it’s just like we’re not going to set screens. We’re going to just sprint at the basket over and over and over. Like that’s what we’re going to do. And you just saw the amount of times tonight the Mavs would to the credit of their perimeter defenders like cut off a driving lane, but also like a guy would get two feet in the paint and AD would be there and it’s all of a sudden a kick out. And not not like a kick out to an open three-point shooter, but more of just like a panicked like, oh, I I’m not putting the shot up. I got to get it out of the paint. Uh and then other times where you saw guys get to the paint and maybe beat their original defender, maybe get their original defender up in the air and then AD’s there to clean it up. like he was incredible defensively tonight and uh yeah man he’s he’s just him at the five just makes everything go it it would make more sense if the Mavs had like a Khalil Wear for example who was killing the Mavs tonight if they had a Khalil Wear who space the floor like that at at his size okay that’s different but they don’t have that guy you know so it’s just clunky right right and which is why Jiannis trade wouldn’t really make sense with the maps the but well I mean I don’t know how Yiannis trade works without AD being in the trade right but yeah Anthony Davis at the five and a guard and a point guard just makes sense everybody else falls into their places Max Christie can be a spot-up shooter Cooper Flag can be an attacker slasher it just makes so much sense for this team to operate that way but uh man Anthony Davis and he had all those all that in 28 minutes heard his hand again on a chase down block where he just I mean he was going after that block and then seemed like he smacked his hand on the bottom of the backboard, but he played the rest of the game. Seemed seemed fine except for as soon as he hit his hand and he hurt it again. He came back in and airled a three and then he like started looking at his hand and I was like, “Well, you can’t really I mean I mean that was a grenade to be fair. That was a grenade. What are you going to blame the hand on the airball three?” Oh yeah, duh. That’s the most classic move in the book. Just look at your hand. What am I doing? I I played football in middle school unfortunately. Seventh grade, eighth grade, B team starting quarterback. We never scored a single touchdown. I never won a game. Uh we played at we scrimmaged a local school and they had a girl on the team and she tackled me once and I stayed on the ground and pretended that I uh rolled my ankle a step before I got tackled. It’s the most classic thing in the book. Who hasn’t missed a shot at the gym or whatever and then been like, “Oh man, what my shoulder.” That was the most incredible slightly lore story I’ve ever True story, too. What was the girl’s name? Do we know her? Oh, no idea. And her and her her name was Alona Mar. Um, I don’t know who that is. I’m going to be real. Oh, she’s the she’s the rugby girl that went viral online. Well, that wouldn’t be embarrassing. Any rugby girl could 100% tackle me right now. No. Alone Mark could tackle you for sure. Oh, for sure. I’m not I’m not uh ignorant to that. Oh my gosh, that’s hilarious. But Anthony Davis fighting hard, playing playing hard, going out there, finishing around the rim. Big stuff from 17 boards. The Mavs need somebody that can do that. Also, who’s the last time that had the last player that had a 1717 game for the Dallas Mavericks? I’m guess a little a little bit of a trick question, but he’s on the team. He’s on the team. Gafford. Nope. Lively? Nope. Dwight Pal? Nope. 17 seven like 17 points 17 rebounds. 17 rebounds. PJ. Oh, naji the knife. That’s such a naggy thing. Isn’t that wild? In Mar in March of of this year, 2025, he had really he had a 177 G. Couldn’t tell you. We were drunk the whole rest of the We were last year. They said on the broadcast like, “Yeah, Tyler Hero had 40 in this building back in February.” I was like, “I have no recollection of that at all.” My client has no memory of that. I have no recollection of that. My memory is my memory is me. Hey, but speaking of Naji, I thought he was awesome tonight, too. He just fits into that spot. Like another slasher. He had 18 points, four assists, two steals, hit two threes, just going to the rim. I mean, he’s just it just makes a lot of sense. I mean, yeah, he’s just you really you really Yeah, you really have a a guard that can hit a mid-range jumper and run a pick and roll. You have a three-point shooter in Max or Clay. A roller in Anthony Davis. It’s an elite roller and two slashers. It’s like you have a basketball team. Well, it’s kind of like a throwback basketball team. It’s like we got our one shooter. I know. Well, but Anthony Davis hit two threes. Naji can hit threes. Nehart hit threes. That is The only one that doesn’t hit threes is the 18-year-old. That is really Yeah. To be fair, he did hit a foot on the line. Long two. I still think it’s the thumb. Oh, he That’s true. That was a long two. That was technically That should have been a three, but um I think it’s still the thumb. It’s weird. But I’m not worried at all about his three ball. Me either. It’s he’s going to like there there’s going to be a summer where they just rework it, you know, and then he comes back and shoots 40% one year. It’s just it’s weird because if like it’s just so crazy that his finishing is so good cuz that was the one thing I thought that I would be concerned about where it was like this this has to get so much like he’s got to get so much stronger but it’s just automatic. It’s been great. We see this with college guys. It’s one of the harder most difficult things to kind of project cuz it’s like if a guy has bad finishing numbers around the rim it’s like okay is that because in college it’s like is that because and Coops wasn’t bad they were just kind of a little bit underwhelming. It was his low thing among all the other incredible stats he had and it was like the one low thing was his finishing. Yeah. And it wasn’t terrible. Again it’s like his half court finishing. It’s something that people always look at, but then it’s hard cuz it’s like, well, Coupe did play with like Malawatch like there the floor wasn’t like super spaced, you know, but when you get into an NBA environment and the floor is a little bit more spaced. Now it’s a different ball game entirely. Yeah. D’Angelo Russell 15 minutes, hit two threes, 10 points, two assists off the bench. This is what I I thought the Mavs This is actually the very game I thought the Mavs would play where you go, they make a lot of sense. Danger Russell’s doing a couple things. Clay’s doing a couple things. Max is doing a couple things. And you’re getting a lot from Anthony Davis, Flag, and a guard. I thought the guard would be D’Angel Russell. It turns out it’s Ryan Nard. Yeah, I mean, knock on wood still cuz there is the curse of But Nimhard’s played better than DL or Brandon Williams ever did at any point this year. So, all right, last thing. We had Yogi Mania. We have Ryan Nemhard right now. We needed a name for it. The Neby the Nembi Nirvana is the one that I’m going I’m feeling. Nembi Frenzy, I think, is what our friend All Things Map said. I’m calling him YMI. YMI? Yes, in my backyard. What do you want the All-American Rejects to come to a concert for you? Yes, in my backyard. NMI. Nembi is more fun to type than it is to say, though. I have to say, Nimi is another thing where people say, “Ni, I’m a nimi. Not in my backyard.” Okay. It’s like people who talk about public housing. Yeah, I want public housing. There’s Nimi. Not in my backyard. Oh, is that what Steph said that one time? Yes. So Steph said Nimi. So that’s how I’m saying riding a hard. Yes, in my backyard. Oh my gosh. Guys, thanks for hanging out with us on lockdown maps. Go check out Daniel Gaffford hurt again by the way. Oh yeah, we should talk about that. Daniel Gaffford hurt his ankle again. He did walk to the locker room which I thought was good. He there was no like visible limp but yeah it seems like he may be out for a little while. They haven’t played Musa recently which I thought has been kind of interesting. Is that a two-way thing? Maybe they don’t want to convert. I think he’s I think he’s active. I don’t know. I actually don’t know the difference between if he’s active or not. Does he have to be on the injury report if he’s not active? He’s just a DMPCD and the box score, but that doesn’t mean he was I guess that doesn’t mean he was active. Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know how that works yet. I got to figure that out. 1. I mean if you could tank this year without trading AD I think its better as you do not have the picks after that.. You kind of want another shooter though a 3 and D guy though..

  2. Kyrie has to comeback already to know if we ride along this team or break it and rebuild.

He has to comeback so we can see what’s the chemistry like and play like.

  3. I mean a ton of us thought this team would be loaded this year and it’s finally coming together. Clunky start but AD is looking like himself again and Nemby being inserted into starting lineup is huge. Also Coop is night and day vs his first few games, he’s the real deal

  4. We are too good to tank always thought that’s specially with all close games we lost without our main players playing! Let’s go Mavs! Let’s get in playoffs atleast 6 seed

  5. I don’t know why nobody compares Nemby to CP3 but that would be the perfect comp for me right now. A bunch of points, assists and zero turnovers. Point God Nemby. Btw please give him a normal rookie contract before somebody else pries him away from the Mavs.

  6. I understand the caution about comparing Nembhard to Brunson, but the "he and Brunson are completely different" narrative is ludicrous. I watch Nembhard play and there is no one he resembles more than Brunson, in addition to the fact that EVERY pre-draft criticism of Brunson has also been applied to Nembhard. Is he going to elevate to Brunson's current level? Probably not. But, to say that there are no similarities at all between the two is just silly.

  7. I been saying on here just to be patient and AD will make it work and elevate the team. He's a legit force and just an all around great player and precense that effects the game.

  8. I’m a teacher and when they showed Coop in the 4th after what shoulda been an add one for him and he mouthed “what the f——“ I thought to myself he could be a student of mine and I could be reminding him to not curse 😂 dude is so good at a young age it’s crazy
