A lot of trade talks are happening in this sub and with the Knicks in general however, weather its AD, Giannis or Zion (yes people were saying Zion) that was never our problem and in fact it creates more problems than it does help.

DEPTH was our problem, trading one or two of our wings and our bench with KAT debatably makes us worse in both defense and offense with less room for injuries. It’s just not a good decision unless we can some how cover those holes, i think people just want a trade to “fix” it but our problem is simply we need to take time and developing this team, many teams have there core players for multiple years before winning a chip, getting a trade puts a reset on that timer and will take time no matter what we do. I think fans are too quick to just “trade your problems away” but thats not how it works, this isn’t 2k.

  1. Honestly, even in the modern era, if Giannis and Brunson are on a team it’s over for everyone

Pacers took okc to 7 and could have won if Tyrese wasn’t hurt.
A lot can happen even to good teams

  2. Funny to see a post that is so wrong, they lost in the playoffs because they couldn’t defend. KAT and Brunson were exposed on defense and they couldn’t recover, it had nothing to do with lack of depth

  3. A lot of you are showing that you either dont watch the basketball and only look at a box score to determine your opinions

  4. Another reminder,

Theres been maybe 4-5? NBA Championship winners in the HISTORY of the NBA to win a championship that have won the title WITHOUT having a top 5 player on their team. The Pistons team with Chauncy and that one Sonic team. You DO NOT win in this league without a top 5 player. I love Brunson and everything he has done for this team. He is not a top 5 player. I love the way this team has been put together and its been a great couple of years. This team will never realistically win the nba title with Brunson as its best player. I’m sorry. Now if we have Giannis and Brunson? Thats a completely different story.

  5. Depth was a small issue but KAT was a much bigger one. I actually have zero faith in KAT being a part of us winning a title. He’s way too inconsistent against good teams, both defensively and offensively

  6. We lost because KAT couldn’t guard a pole. Enjoy all the depth this year when we lose again

  7. Less the bench quality itself (though yeah it wasn’t the best) and more Thibs unwillingness to play certain guys, like Shamet, until it was too late. Knicks take care of business game 1 and that’s a different series, but again Pacers did that to every team they played in that playoffs, so how angry can I be about that lol

  8. We had bad “depth” because perfectly capable rotation level players i.e. Wright and Shamet (or maybe even starter level players in Shamet’s case) were not given minutes. there are probably about 1500 people on earth capable of being the 8th-12th man on an NBA roster if in the right situation and only 450 people on NBA rosters. You can get depth for veteran minimum contracts. Time and time again we see nobody’s have breakout seasons when given the chance. The way you win in the NBA is you solve for the 2-3 most impactful players, surround them with as many above replacement pieces that fit as the cap allows, and then let the bench solve itself. Giannis is a massive upgrade over KAT. I like KAT, I wish he could win a championship with us, we probably could win one in fact but Giannis takes us from a 5-10% chance long shot to likely the 2nd most likely behind the Thunder. I really like OG, Mitch, Hart, and Deuce as well but its probably going to take 1 or even 2-3 of them to get the deal done.

  9. KAT not being disciplined on the defensive end certainly didn’t help. Dude gets panicked and would get continuous fouls for stupid reasons. That’s not good basketball.

  10. What were you watching? The Pacers manhandled our guards. They were big and athletic up front. It was far more than our depth.

  11. Say what you want, I just don’t trust Kat in big games, I will always trust Giannis

  12. Yeah you don’t win with star power. Milwaukee didn’t win because of giannis. They won because of pat caugniton Jeff Teague Jordan Norway.

Need players like that more than

    A multiple time MVP

    Who averaged

35.2 13.2 5.0 in the finals he won a championship

    Or who averages

36.2 27.0 12.2 over his career in the postseason

    Or who averaged

    33.0 15.4 6.6 last post-season

No no give me depth. I WANT IGUDALA!

  13. I agree with you. Indy stole game 1 and then ran us off the floor with their depth the remainder of the series

Game 3 when thibs put in the bench and KAT that led a comeback (we were down big)

  14. No it’s not. The Knicks took the pacers farther with half the team injured the season before you know why? KAT can’t defend.

  15. Clowns don’t realize Giannis doesn’t actually make us better. We need depth and have enough starpower as is. I’d only trade for Giannis to block the lakers or thunder and only if it includes Towns.

  16. 100% chief. I would love to see Giannis in a knicks jersey, but not at the cost of depth.

  17. Not really. It ended up being siakem really took it to OG and nesmith hitting 8 3s in the 4th of game 1
