The Ravens will be the NFL’s MOST DISAPPOINTING TEAM with a loss to the Steelers – Orlovsky | Get Up

I don’t feel like this team has a freak out or a panic that uh that I need to like send a message out to the to the zeitgeist that uh everybody needs to just relax a little bit and we’ve been playing inconsistent football, that’s for sure. Um we got to play better, but I have confidence in leadership of the team. I have confidence in my guys and and that we’re going to put a better performance on the field this weekend. So that’s old school Aaron channeling reax. Stan Olowski. Should fans of the Steelers relax? Absolutely not. We one, we’ve heard this from Aaron for about five years right now. Two, this is an offense. They’ve taken DK Medaf and made DK Medaf West Welker. DK Medaf when he was with the Seattle Seahawks, it was every ball down the field, big play, 11 yards per catch or 11 yards per reception. Now it’s like under six. And I go to the Joey Bosa sack fumble of last week. Aaron, we know Aaron has not wanted to hold the football, rightfully so. Start the second half, hold the football, trying to make a play, all a sudden, not only sack, sack, fumble, and he’s hurt. Do we think that this is going to make Aaron more inclined to hold the ball, more inclined to try to take shots downfield with it? And so for a defense with Baltimore that’s playing so good and a pass game right now that no will Adam Thielen impact it that much. But I think it’s just they’ve taken this big play receiver and made him hey made him a a slot uh possession guy and it just doesn’t mesh. It’s almost impossible for talent to outplay balance. And I think for a lot of fans of teams that want to invigorate their pass game they say let’s go pay a receiver as much money as we can. But the problem that the Pittsburgh Steelers are having is the same problem we talked about before the season, which is you need a legitimate number two. You need something to take pressure off of this guy. A because that’s what he’s used to and Tyler Lockett in Seattle. And B, because again, it makes the passing game very one-dimensional, which is just easy for defenses to take away. I I don’t know if this speaks more to the quarterback or the coaching or the scheme, but look what George Pickins is doing in Dallas and look what DK Metaf is doing in Pittsburgh. And those things seem to be telling as we head into a game here Sheffy with as you heard from the busing guys and you’re well aware the whole world is talking about Mike Tomlin and his long term and even Harbaugh and his long term in Baltimore and this game is still probably for the division. The word that somebody used yesterday to describe the Steelers to me in the league was reeling. And they feel like they’re reeling a little bit. And yet, and yet if they find a way to win on Sunday in Baltimore, which I think a lot of people are skeptical about, they win that game on Sunday, they’re up on Pittsburgh and really have a two-game lead, having won the head-to-head battle in first place. So for all the people screaming about the Steelers, for all the people that say they’re reeling, and this week they claimed Adam Thielen to try to address that wide receiver need and he may play on Sunday for the Pittsburgh Steelers at wide receiver. If they find a way to get it together on Sunday and win the game, they’re in a good spot to win the division. If if Baltimore loses, this becomes the most disappointing team in football this year. One, they’ve got the better offense between the two teams. two, they have the better defense between the two teams. And we’re talking about a quarterback in Lamar that’s a two-time MVP, and I know he’s hurt, but the the answer is, can this offense get better? Yes. All we need Lamar to do is hit throws that JJ McCarthy is making that the misses that Lamar has had this year are similar to the misses that JJ’s had this year where you just watch and go, Lamar, you’re missing that throw by two or three yards. And so, yes, he’s got to get healthy, all that. But this is a very simple fix for Baltimore. Lamar Jackson, who has been one of the great quarterbacks in the NFL, start making layup throws. He hasn’t played like that. And last week, Joe Burrow comes back from an injury that was expected to potentially end his season and it took him like a quarter and wins in Baltimore. Yeah. And it wasn’t just that game in which Lamar Jackson has been rather flat. It’s a few games now where he’s been rather flat. And so we’ve seen all the other big quarterbacks, Burrow, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes step up. He’s the one big big big- time guy that hasn’t stepped up in recent weeks. Final quick word. I I mean I have a bunch to say around that. Like he’s not played well. It is not little that he has been battling injuries, but I I don’t want to point to that. That’s the only reason why this offense is struggling. Of course not. And it’s not even like the biggest reason. Yes, it’s what we’re used to, but their offensive line isn’t well. Derrick Henry doesn’t look like he did a year ago. The receivers aren’t opening and separating and I think all those things matter. We can get into it more in the next. This was supposed to be the best team in football this year and they most certainly have not been that. Neither of them have. They’re probably playing for the division. We go in and Chefy. Lots of news out there. Let’s run the hurry up. Starting in Cleveland, which something I wasn’t expecting to hear you say. Why not introduce one more story line into the Browns quarterback room? And so they opened the practice window yesterday for Deshun Watson, who’s coming off the season ending Achilles injury last year. It’s the first time he’s been on the practice field all season long. They felt like they owed it to him for as hard as he’s worked to get back out there. We’ll see if he can make it back for the start or the end of the regular season. Meanwhile, in Tampa, the Buccaneers opened the practice window on a pair of wide receivers, most notably Mike Evans, but also Jaylen McMillan. Evans was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. You remember he broke his collarbone earlier in the year. Probably still a little bit of time away from being able to play. Keep in mind after this week, the Buccaneers play the Saints on Sunday. Short week to get ready for the Atlanta Falcons and then there’s a period where Evans might have 10 more days to rest to come back in week 16. Justin Herbert not practicing yesterday. Went to the walkthrough. had surgery on that fractured left hand on Monday. Now, the Chargers continue to insist that he’s doing everything he can to be out there and they’re preparing as if Herbert will play on Monday night against the Eagles. But I think there are people around the league who are a little bit skeptical of that, wondering whether he could have surgery on Monday and play a week later and how much of a risk that might be. Obviously, the Chargers will handle the situation the right way, but there are some conflicting schools of thought and we’ll see what’s real. If he can’t play, Trey Lance leads the Chargers Monday night. That’s a fascinating one. I mean, obviously, and it’s a monster game for both teams. It means everything in the world to the Chargers because they’re in the thick of things in the AFC. And then it means everything in the world to the Eagles who will be playing there. And speaking of fascinating matchups, there was an exchange that we all got to chance to see on that Hard Knox that I I wanted you to hear. It’s between Jaylen Herz and Devonte Smith. This was after a miscommunication in their game against Chicago. Listen to this. hurts. He’s lucky. He fires and it is incomplete. He missed Devonte Smith who was cutting in and the ball went to his left. There’s a little signal before the ball is snapped. He’s expecting a stop by Devonte Smith. Smitty is running a slant. If he hits Smitty on the slant, he’s going to run all the way into the end zone. What you think? I thought you when I pointed like this. That’s my fault. I thought you was going I thought you was going to settle settle down some more. I think that’s what we talked about. Ah, it’s a play I got to make. Y’all keep doing what y’all doing. Here we go. We’ll finish the next one. That’s a play I make. So, just so fascinating, I think, for those of us who were never on the field, which of the five of us, I’m the only one who was never on the field, but just to hear that kind of interaction. So, so let me talking about me low key, but go ahead. There’s been so much there’s been so much talk about the Eagles and what’s wrong with their offense and all of that as they play a game that look I mean the Cowboys if the Cowboys win tonight then there will be an enormous amount of heat on the Eagles to win on Monday night. So, if you were to try and pinpoint it, what is wrong with the Philadelphia offense? It’s the worst first down offense in the NFL. And if you’re bad on first down, it’s almost impossible to make up for it on second and third down. For context, Saquon last year running the football on first down. He ran for over,00 yards on first down. Last year, 70 yards per game. This year, he’s averaging 38 yards running the ball on first down. So, you’re bat on first down, you’re bad on second down, then you’re always in third and longs. That’s why you have all these three and outs. They don’t do one thing well offensively. If I had to use the words and give you adjectives to describe this offense over the course of the season, predictable, boring, stale, self-inflicting, uncreative, and not unexplosive outside of that, but that’s the reality. So, it’s it’s not just one thing. It’s not just one person. It’s all 11. So, if it’s all of that, Taylor, then where are you pointing the finger? Yeah. I mean, Dan Dan’s pointing everything out. And at the end of the day, if you have this many questions, you have an offensive line that are missing blocks consistently, if you’re boring, you’re stale, you can’t get things going with the elite talent that you have, then you have to go look at the top and the blame has to come on the head coach Nick Ferriani. You look at the OC, they their OC left went down to the Saints and instead of going to find his guy to keep the same kind of weaponry that he does going into the season, he elevated guy from inside the building. Now, I have immense respect for Nick Serriiani, but at the end of the day, if I’m on this show every single week and every single week there is a a conversation taking place about what’s wrong, whether it’s AJ Brown’s conversations or Saquon Barkley not getting his touches, then all of a sudden it’s like, well, then Nick is not addressing this in the room. It obviously has not been addressed there. If we are talking about it in week 14, do you see it that way? I’ve played this game, Taylor, and I was just like you two years ago and last year and they went and won the Super Bowl. So, I’m saying that to say like They are they are less than a year away or removed from hoisting the Lombardi trophy. Yeah, it’s tough in that locker room. And that’s what happens when you have a bunch of talented people. We call it the Philadelphia egos because stars have egos. So, it is hard to manage that. And I I would say Nick Serriana, Nick Serriani over the course of his tenure has done a good job doing that because it’s tough. There’s a reason why ESPN doesn’t have a show with Mike Greenberg, Dan Olosski, Stephen A, Pat McAfee, Laura Rutled, all these big-time people because it’s a tough room to be in if everybody is the star. So, the Eagles having won a Super Bowl, you just understand that through the course of the year, those are going to be a part of the es and flows. But if it ends well and the way you play well in the playoffs, it puts you in a position because you’re more talented than everybody else. That’s a great point. A year before they won the Super Bowl, they started what 11-2 and then had a ball 10 and one and fell completely off the cliff. Two things can be true, right? One one is that he’s a very good coach and no one’s suggesting he should his job should be in jeopardy, but that he is at least partially responsible for what’s going on here. If indeed if the offensive coordinator is the problem, then that might be a bit of his problem. Just let me get Will into the conversation. Well, yeah, you guys basically covered everything I a couple weeks ago. Are the Eagles going to get run down from behind by the Cowboys? Are they going to fall off that same cliff again? Dallas Cowboys are coming to take the NFC East. We’ve been saying it all year. The Eagle Philadelphia Eagles have had problems. I haven’t been on the show in a couple weeks, but the last two weeks they’ve strung two losses together. Bad losses. They’re getting figured out more and more and everybody is to blame in that Eagles organization. You were there, Dan, Friday, and we talked about a little bit on Monday. I mean, it felt just watching it through the TV and hearing the sound it I can’t imagine a place where the vibes feel worse than they did that day in Philadelphia. Do you feel like we’re seeing the beginning of a real slide? It feels that way. and and being in the building, one giant takeaway was it felt like when they had the football, there was no Hope.

  1. for the millionth time it's not the players IT'S THE SCHEME. Ya'll love to bring up Pickens but never point out how in 12 games he's been better than in 3 years with the Steelers. Yet the same scheme is minimalizing DK and Muth who they just paid but play Jonnu more. That's coaching and that's SCHEME.

  2. A sorry quarterback like Dan who went with the 0-16 with the looked like calling out Lamar Jackson but he do the same thing to Josh Allen who just won the mvp last year. Josh Allen ain’t playing up to par but he ain’t saying nothing him

  3. Thielen is the perfect possession receiver. I was saying ALL spring that Carolina was gonna release him and we should pick him up. He went to Minn to go back home. I think he'll be very useful.

  4. If the Ravens lose, it further reinforces the narrative that they are the NFL's version of Penn State. And thats Steve Bisciotti, Eric DeCosta, and John Harbaugh have been wanting their team to be viewed as this whole time. Its too bad that they all forgot the one major factor. Like PSU they stink in big games and use a curse as their scapegoat for their failures.

  5. I am tired of Lamar Jackson getting a pass because he’s Homeskillet to the community Lamar Jackson has had zero touchdowns in three weeks almost a month that is horrendous. He is in year eight and has only had one AFC championship game. He is a coach killer. he is a type of quarterback that will get a coach fired. He has the same amount of touchdowns as me and you the past three weeks because he has a hamstring injury and he can’t run around and the result of that is he has zero touchdowns in three weeks just think about that zero

  6. Chiefs will be the most disappointing team if they don't make the playoffs. Ravens would be a close second, considering where people ranked them at the start of the season.

  7. Josh Allen has had the worst passer rating and qbr the last 2 weeks and Lamar gets 2 tds called back Thursday and has the worst rated oline in football n Josh has the best rated oline n football yet Lamar Jackson is playing horrible and missing throws get Dan out of espn

  8. Baltimore has better defensive productivity but they don't have better defensive players. They have roquan and Kyle Hamilton. But they don't have TJ watt. Alex Highsmith. Cam Hayward. Jalen Ramsey. All those guys have better careers than Kyle Hamilton

  9. I took the Bengals to win the super bowl last week before the Ravens game at 400-1. I am hoping they beat the Bills this week, Ravens beat Steelers, and then Bengals beat the Ravens again next week. All the sudden we're in it!

  10. I think the steelers are holding the most disappointing team in the NFL rn but any team that loses to the steelers will get that crown probably going to pass it back and forth like hot potato

  11. Shefter is an idiot im sorry. If the steelers win this week against the Ravens, nothing changes. The steelers probably WILL win this week but then they will lose out the rest of the season and even if by the grace of the football gods, they make the playoffs…ill bet every dollar i have at my disposal on whoever we face. There is zero percent chance that the steelers win a playoff game this year. Im taking bets, ill put up a G that the steelers dont win a playoff game with Tomlin if they somehow scrape their way in on the wild card. THAT is the problem with the steelers. ESPN can talk all they want about what a great coach Tomlin is, but if he cant do better than 9-8 and a wildcard loss, he has got to go.
