REACTION: Falcons 24, Saints 10 | CUT BLAKE GRUPE NOW!!! New Orleans Offense Hits New Low!

[Music] The Saints lose to the Falcons 24-10 and Sunday was a uh it was a sobering reminder of how bad of a football team the New Orleans Saints are. Uh that loss is not all on Tyler Shuck, but he does shoulder some a lot of the blame for how that day went. um when your offense scores three points that you have to look at the quarterback in some degree. Um he attempted 43 passes, 30 of 43 for 243, averaged 5.7 yards, uh a rating of 74, a QBR of 33. He was sacked five times. He threw a a pick, no touchdowns. It was awful. Um, I mean that was that was a disaster. A an unmititigated disaster. Oh, what a disaster. Let me count the ways. Alvin Chimera fumbling on the first possession when he and Tyler Shuck can’t execute a a quarterback running back exchange. You had a 75 yard kickoff return from Mason Tipton. Pretty good. And you got no points on that possession because poopy groupy missed a 38 yard field goal. Thanks for the laugh, Alre. Alvin Chimera gets hurt by Kaden Ellis on a hip drop tackle. Shades of Devin White doing the same to Jameus in 2021. Foster Morrow with a drop on what might have been the most athletic play of the day by Tyler Shuck when he was being engulfed because his offensive line stinks. He shakes free, rolls right, flicks the ball to Foster, drops it. Oh, by the way, you gave up five sacks in this ball game as well. Poopy Groupy missed a 47 yard as well. That’s two kicks inside of 50 yards that Poopy Groupy missed. Uh, this should be his last day as an NFL kicker. Uh, enjoy playing in Canadia. A How bad was this day? You had a 15play drive that netted you no points. You got into a goal to go situation and Tyler Shuck did not attempt to pass, but Taesm Hill did. You had another 15play drive that netted you a field goal and the bad snap that went over Taesm Hill’s head. Again, Taesm Hill throwing a pass in a goal to go situation, not your quarterback who you’re trying to build around. And then he was flagged for intentional grounding. Let’s see what else. Uh Kool-Aid or should we call him Sugar Water was burned on a 49yd touchdown by Darnell Mooney. That was Darnell Mooney if you’re wondering. That was his first touchdown of the year. And let me remind you that was not Drake London. That was not a Mecha Ibuka. That was not DK Metaf. That was not Puka Nua. That was Darnell Mooney who burned Sugarwater McKinstry for a 49yd touchdown to put the game away. You had a fourth and 15. And Dante Pettis catches a dart from Tyler Shuck one yard short of the sticks. no spatial awareness whatsoever to realize that you got to get 15 yards or you turn the ball over on downs, which is what they did. So, you had a 15play drive with no points, a 15play drive with a field goal, and then a 13play drive that got no points because of the tip ball interception at the end of the game right there. It was an atrocity watching that football game on Sunday. It is hard to evaluate Tyler Shuck, similar to Spencer Rattler at the end of the season last year because Rattler was playing with what amounted to a a practice squad offense. Your offensive line was decimated by injuries. Your top two receivers, Shahed and Al were out. It was just really Taesm got hurt at the end of the year. It was so hard to evaluate Rattler at the end of the season last year because there was nothing there that resembled an NFL offense. And the same is here. I mean, Luke Forner is your center instead of Eric McCoy. Instead of Tales Faga, who might be your best offensive lineman at right tackle, you’re playing a seam Richards. Instead of your former first round pick, Trevor Penning, who stinks at left guard, you had Dylan Raidens, Radunes in there. Um, after a lav at receiver, you had Devon Vele and Dante Pettis as your receivers. You you have you have nothing there offensively. You have no playmakers, no skill, no opportunity for anyone to go make a play. I’m watching Sunday Night Football and I’m watching dudes make plays tumbling on their heads. I’m watching Devonte Smith of the Eagles with a jump ball dude with a hand on his face mask catching a ball, falling on his neck, tumbling over and coming down with the ball. Like, that’s what you have to have when you have a true number one. The Saints don’t have it. And a lot of people are asking the question about Kell Moore. Does he deserve blame? Yes. Yes, Kell Moore deserves blame. Are you kidding me? I’m not I’m not delusional here. I know what this team is, and I’ve said it from the beginning of the season. I’m not going to sit here and complain about wins and losses because I did not expect this team to win games, but you also can’t finish drives. You didn’t score a touchdown. You had three drives in the red zone that ended with no points. Excuse me. Three drives in the red zone that ended with a total of three points. You had drives of 15, 15, 13 plays. You won the time of possession in this ball game 3251. to 33 minutes to 27 minutes. In the second half, it was astonishing. Atlanta ran three plays in the third quarter. You had a 15-play drive with no points. You forced a three and out. Then you had your next 15play drive subsequent. Yes, Kell Moore deserves blame for this. He deserves blame for running Taesm Hill out there in goal to go situations instead of letting Tyler Shuck try to get your offense into the end zone. Yes, Kell Moore deserves blame for this. And the offense is so bad that it’s distracting from your defense, which is 22nd in the NFL in scoring defense. Everything on this team is bad. The Saints and the Titans are the only two teams in the NFL. Hat tip Jeff Duncan, by the way, I saw this on his Twitter. The Saints and the Titans are the only teams in the NFL that have not scored 26 points. The Saints and the Titans. We can all agree the Titans are terrible. Well, so are you. And yes, you blame Mickey Lumis for this. because all of the draft capital that he has spent, he has wasted. Caesar Ruiz is awful. He is arguably the worst starting guard in the NFL. Chris Ave is not a number one. You took him in the in the top half of round one. He is at best a mid-tier number two wide receiver. You wasted a first round pick on Trevor Penning, which became a he turned a firstrounder into a sixthrounder. Congratulations, Mick. You traded a four for Devon Vele, who was a seven. So, he turned a seven. He turned a four uh into a seven. And by the way, Devon Vele has nine catches on the season. Awesome job. Great evaluation. Shawn Peyton took you to the cleaners, Mick, because you’re awful at your job. Brian Burie was a firstrounder. He’s invisible. Sugarwater McKinry stinks. Isaiah Fosky was a second round pick. Cut, not even on the team. I mean, this is my problem. My hope is my hope. My hope is that we see enough of Tyler Shuck over the next six games to where we can go, okay, you have a you have a starting caliber NFL quarterback there, like it’s in there in him. But the realist in me realizes that even if you feel like you see that in Shuck, I have no reason to believe that Gummack and Mick is the guy that’s going to be able to appropriately use your draft capital and and cap space to build a winning team around Tyler Shuck because we continue to see him waste draft picks and make bad signings in free agency. I mean, he’s the guy that got you into the terrible cap situation. He’s the guy who signed Derek Carr and then doubled down on him. It’s just there’s no reason to believe the guy that got you into this mess is going to be the one to dig you out of it. And Grandma Gail doesn’t seem to want to want to fix it. So, uh, we’ll just keep on watching. Uh, Saints might stumble their way into a couple of more wins because you play some bad teams and Chuck has done some nice things. Uh, I mean, you’re at Miami this week. You still get to play the aforementioned Titans. You get a game uh at home against the Carolina Panthers who you already beat. You get to play the Jets as well. So, you’ve got some games where you can stumble into a few more wins and maybe push to four or five wins this season. We’ll see how it goes. But whatever the win loss record says at this point is is irrelevant. It’s more about what we’ve hoped to see throughout the year is do you see anything that you can build around? and I don’t know that I do. Uh, and that’s the really that’s the most the the being two and nine is not the most disappointing part of this season. The most disappointing part of this season is not seeing anything of merit with your young talent that you could say those are cornerstone players you can build around. That’s the bigger concern of this. Hopefully over the next six games we could start to see some of that develop. But Sunday was an absolute disaster. a disaster in the Superdome where the New Orleans Saints scored three offensive points against a three- win Atlanta Falcons team. Just gross. Matt Moscona breaks down the New Orleans Saints’ 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and the glaring issues exposed on Sunday. From Tyler Shough’s 30-of-43 performance with no touchdowns and a pick, to Alvin Kamara’s injury and costly fumbles, the offense struggled mightily in every phase. Missed field goals, failed red zone drives, and blown opportunities highlighted the team’s dysfunction. Matt also examines the failures of Kellen Moore’s coaching decisions, Mickey Loomis’ mismanagement of draft capital, and the lack of playmakers that have left the Saints floundering. With injuries, poor offensive line play, and limited talent at receiver, this loss serves as a sobering reminder that the Saints have major holes to fix if they hope to build a team around Tyler Shough.

  1. We need perspective. We are an aging team with an influx of very young players. We have questions at a lot of positions, as well as the coaching staff. Our rise to the top will depend on the toughness of our HC and the adding of talented playmakers to the roster. We have solid players: Banks, Fuaga, Bresee, Tyler Too, Sanker, Stalbird, Werner, Riley, Taylor and Stutsman. Sugar Water, Chase Young, Granderson, Olave, Reid, Burgess and Vele are all usable players. We have a way to go. Moore ain’t the guy to lead us.

  2. u can't just blame 1 person for this loss. it was the whole organization. coaching was bad, players weren't executing or making stops, and let's not forget grupe. just terrible. but this is the team loomis assembled together. so who's the real monster???!!!

  3. Anyone with a a pulse understands that Loomis must go. He had nothing to do with the glory years of the Saints and was at best a detriment. There were 2 primary reasons for the Saints good years. Drew Breeze and Sean Payton. Loomis has never rebuilt a team and the cap hell he created will make it impossible for him to even try to do so. Sean Payton understood this and that's the main reason he left the organization. Tom Benson is rolling over in his grave.

  4. How can you blame shough for this? The red zone tries were mostly taken from him and our o line was the worst this year in the whole league. O line, poopy and coaching were the reasons we didn't have more points. Shough had some bad plays but it really is not fair to blame him

  5. This is exactly what you wanted.

Dennis Allen and Derek Carr are gone. The new young offensive wizard HC. The new franchise QB fresh from the draft.

This has been your wet dream for the last three years.

You should be jumping for joy every week.

  6. And this debacle was at home after a bye! Gaaaadang! Still… STILL… running Taysom out there behind center. WHY?! Don't you have your QB? Ruiz has always been trash. He's the one who got Brees hurt against the 49ers. Grupe should be gone and take the secondary with ya. At least open the playbook up. What the heck do you have to lose that you haven't already proven you can't win. Just… ugh!

  7. I feel like Sean wanted to prove to Mickey that he’s bad at his job. Mickey just allowed him to take whoever he wanted to Denver and Mickey thought he was doing him a solid but Sean knew he was fleecing him. Sean is not a fan of Mickey and will take any opportunity to make him look bad.

  8. We all did not expect a lot of wins but we did expect to see some progress . Kellen Moore gets an F for his coaching on this game . To be that bad after a bye is unforgivable.

  9. Gayle and Mickey need to go. But you're also putting too much on Shough. This is just his THIRD start playing with a garbage O-Line and he lost 1 of his 2 weapons.

  10. Matt, you need to blast Gayle more. Stop letting her off lightly. If she won't make a move either here or with the Pelicans, she needs to be taken to the woodshed just like they do with Jerry Jones (DAL), Woody Johnson (NYJ) and John Mara (NYG). Bad ownership needs to be called out more often.

  11. I love you, Matt. But you're wrong this time. This game is on KM.

Defense did their thing. KM had a disgusting redzone gameplan that did not help Shough.

  12. Remember when all of you wanted to get rid of Lutz? Now Lutz is better than the guy that replaced him …. Maybe think about that!!!! Yes, the owner isn't a fickle fan who fires and cuts everything bc they aren't winning. You fools aren't fans of football, your fans of winning and base your happiness on a sports team winning Or losing. Think about that also.

  13. when are we going to stop pretending shough is half the QB of rattler. there was a better chance of building around rattler than shough. i was shocked to see all of you throwing your hats in the air with shough's win, when i saw rattler play many times better in his close loses to much better teams.
