The Rockets are TERRIFYING…

The Houston Rockets are a problem. Everything that rival NBA teams didn’t want to happen has happened. KD has come in and fit seamlessly and is the answer to their halfcourt struggles. Steven Adams is their massive X factor. Alpern Shingon, Jabari Smith Jr., Amen Thompson are all progressing and Reed Shepard has been able to slide into that point guard spot perfectly in the absence of Fred Van Vleet. And oh, by the way, they haven’t even gotten Dorian Finny Smith back yet. But like I said, KD has been the solution to their halfcore problems. And it’s it’s not just because he’s the fact that he’s the most gifted scoreer of all time, but he’s also a guy that you can do tons of different things with. Like right here, we’re going to start out in a horn set, throw the flare to him, and then he’s going to find Shingun, who just taps it right back to him. That’s a very good play by both Shingun and KD. We’re gonna attract Keegan Murray who is the primary defender for KD. Then we’re gonna get Westbrook on him going downhill. He’s gonna find Shingoon right back to him. Beautiful basketball. Then right here he’s going to have the option. It looks like it’s going to be a down screen from Shingun for him to come to the ball. Instead, Keegan Murray overplays and KD just goes right back door and a little swipe from Lavine is not enough to deter him from finishing with the right. 24 points, eight assists, three boards last night on nine of 16 shooting from the field. And this is why their half court offense is just so much better. You can just simply give it to him at the elbow and he’s going to go get a bucket even on a good defender like Keegan Murray. That’s a ridiculously tough shot that he just sticks. Last year the Rockets had the number 14 offense in points per game, number 13 in offensive rating. This year they’re fourth in points per game and second in offensive rating. And yeah, Shingun Amen Jabari have developed, but that’s like Kevin Durant effect plain and simple. He’s leading them in scoring, averaging 25 a game with five boards, 3.7 assist, shooting 49% from the field and 37% from three. And believe it or not, that’s kind of a down year for KD. Another really nice set. I mean, just running him off a stagger screen here to getting the ball. Eudoka does a fantastic job with this Rocket squad as the head coach. He curls it. Keegan actually gets a hand on it, but it doesn’t matter. KD is still going to catch fire and knock it down. then running in transition here, knocking down the three ball. And in Phoenix, he shot 43% on six attempts from beyond the arc. This year, he’s only shooting 37% on 4.8 attempts. Now, granted, it’s only a 20ame sample size, so maybe he could be heating up here before long, but kind of a down year. He did have eight assists last night, like we said. Great job here avoiding the charge in transition and finding him in. And the Rockets have actually been getting out and running in transition as of late, and we’ll talk about that more in a second. Uh, first we got to look at Alpurn Shingun who I mean you look at the ISO from KD and then you also got ISO from Alpin and it looks like he learned that from Kevin Durant. I mean turn around we’re going to try and draw a foul and still knock down a fadeaway. That’s a ridiculous advancement in his game already at just like 23 years old. Put up 23 and 10 last night with four steals and three assists. Really nice cut right here. Amen. Finds him on the same page and they get the dunk to go. He’s averaging 23 points a game with nine rebounds, seven assists, 1.3 steals, and a block while shooting 51% from the field, and 39% from three on three attempts per game. The three-point shooting is much better than last year, he can take you off the bounce. And compared to Joker, which we have done for at several points in his career, he’s having a better fifth year. And then we talked about KD’s ISOs, we also got to look at Alpin Shingun’s ISOs. Look at him right here getting downhill, finishing over. I believe that’s Reo. And between the two of them, I mean, you can’t help, right? You can’t send two. You got to send two to guard Shingon, but you can’t because you can’t leave KD. You can’t leave Reed Shepard. Aaron Holiday is an elite three-point shooter as well. Uh they’re number one in offensive rebounds per game, which we’re going to talk about more in a second when we look at Steven Adams. And then they also get into this inverted pick and roll, which is really difficult to stop. It puts Malik Monk in a big old bind right here because instead of now guarding Aaron Holiday, he’s guarding Alfred Shingun coming down full speed at him. And then right here, same thing happens with Holiday setting the screen except he kind of gets thrown and it ends up being a one-on-one with Reo and Shingun still just makes quick work of it. Right. Right now they are 12th in fast break points per game. And between Shingun and Adams, they are dominating the offensive glass and the glass as a whole. Adams himself is averaging a ridiculous 4.9 offensive rebounds per game, which leads the NBA right now. And they also, as a team, average 16.6 offensive rebounds per game, leading the NBA by a long shot. There’s only one other team with over 14 offensive rebounds per game. To put that into perspective for you, Stephen Adams last night had 11 points, eight rebounds, five offensive, and two steals in a brief 18 minutes. He doesn’t play much, but when he plays, he’s very impactful. Look at this right here. This looks like it’s supposed to be a zoom action where men’s going to set the first down screen, and then you’ve got Steven Adams coming to set the DHO screen, but instead he just goes right downhill, gets a little shifty, and finishes with the right hand. Look at him inside dominating that offensive glass. He will finish it one way or the other. As you can see here, 93% of the people that watch these videos are not subscribed to the channel. And then, let’s check out this action right here. Eodoka, like I said, is doing a masterful job. We’re going to get a DHO between Amen Thompson and Kevin Durant. Russell Westbrook steps up on KD, so it’s an easy slip for a man Thompson and it’s tough to meet that guy at the rim and make a play because he’s so athletic. And then this right here, I mean that that is just ridiculous with that athleticism. He finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and two stocks in 36 minutes last night. Was eight of 16 from the field, 0 of one from beyond the ark. But I mean, that that’s a part of his game that needs to continue to be developed. He’s really dangerous in transition, but he’s only shooting 20% from three on two attempts a game. Now, like I said, elite in transition. He’s helped this Houston Rockets team climb the rankings of those fast break points. And he’s averaging 17 a game with seven assists, five boards in 36 minutes while shooting 48% from the field. So, it’s not like he’s having a bad season by any stretch of the imagination. Look at him get on the floor here. Leads to a fast break for KD and company. And KD is going to go the length of the floor and finish with the layup. But that’s all started with a men being able to get on the floor. Now, I want to see more of this this little mid-range jumper right here. I believe that’s Precious that doesn’t want to step up. So Amen’s going to make him pay with just a little elbow jumper here. Really smooth and knocks it down. Next up is Jabari Smith Jr. who you’d have to be blind to say that he hasn’t benefited from playing with Kevin Durant. That right there was very Durantesque. He feels him on the strong side. So he just spins baseline and dunks it. And then right here out in transition, he’s averaging 15 a game careerhigh with 6.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 stops in about 33 minutes a game. And look at the defense right here being able to get the stop. And then now we’re on the break. Josh Kogi’s flying downhill. This is an great example of how to not play transition defense by the Sacramento Kings. And JSJ finishes it with the mid-range jumper. He’s 6’11 with that 7-1 wingspan and running in transition. That can be scary. They’re fourth in transition points per game over the last three games. Really getting out and running as of late. Then you have Aaron Holiday as well who is a great backup backup point guard. He’s like the third string here in Houston. Um he can really shoot it. He can get downhill off the DHO, off the ball screen. He can do a lot of stuff. He’s shooting 41% from three on 4.2 attempts per game. Uh and then you’ve got Reed Shepard as well. Another guy that has become a really good backup point guard. Probably could be playing that starting role because, you know, everybody gave up on him after two games at the beginning of the year. but he’s locked in since and is having a really good impact on games coming off the bench. Averaging 133 and three with 1.7 steals in 23 minutes, shooting 48% from the field, 45% from three on six attempts per game. Um didn’t have the biggest impact on the game last night, but still he’s been a monster. As for guys like Tory East, he is out four to six weeks. So, that one is a little bit unfortunate because he’s a fantastic defender and has been shooting the blood out of the ball early in the year. Dorian Finny Smith is another guy here. He’s also behind schedule in his recovery. So, that’s two really good 3 and D wings that they don’t even have access to right now, but it doesn’t matter. They’re 14 and five and the offense is humming. With that being said, that’s going to be it for today’s video. Thanks so much for watching. 1. Rockets are great just like they were some seasons during the Harden era but just like that era, theres a team thats historically great in their way, sadly….

Warriors then and OKC now… thanks Kawhii (Not!)

  2. Commenting for the algo. Great content! When DFS and Tari get back from injury it'll really help extend the bench for Udoka. They knew DFS was getting ankle surgery when they signed him as a FA, but I didn't think it would take this long for him to get back. Apparently they're looking at a January return for him. It'll be fun watching this team at full strength (not including VanVleet of course…). Cheers from Houston!
