Hot take: I don’t think the people that run this franchise has any idea what they’re doing.
It’s probably because Falvey isn’t getting an answer on payroll due to the minority sale being hung up by something, so he’s reluctant to make any moves.
No one thought they’d go full fire sale before the deadline, yet here we are.
I think the minority ownership situation will be resolved soon and the front office is angling to keep Joe/Pablo/Buck for 2026 and they’re just waiting that process out until they get the cash infusion to spend at modest levels (I.e. sign a couple relievers and a first baseman, etc).
It sounds crazy on it’s face but it’s not in actuality
