Today I attended my first ever NHL game and god fucking damn.

As a newcomer to Canada and someone really sports motivated, I needed to find a sport to follow and that helps me to connect with other people. I ended up going for hockey and the Flames because I am in calgary so I can attend games. Honestly, this sport has caught me completely, it feels like a way more active soccer to me.

The point is that the environment at the Saddledome is another whole thing, even though I was sitting in press level with an amazing obstructed view of handrails, I still could feel the vibe.

And what a game, I wasn’t expecting a lot since the Wild are doing really well this season, but today the guys delivered a good game (from a complete ignorant of strategy in hockey).

Anyway, got some pictures from the stratosphere in press level. And yeah, pretty much an exciting evening I wanted to share in this sub. I am excited for future games as I will keep going to them, hopefully next time I’ll make it to the upper bowl.

TLDR: First NHL Game, I love this sport, I got a bad spot in Press Level yet enjoyed the game, pics from the game

  1. Glad you enjoyed it! And yes we unfortunately are doing crap this year. Fortunately we don’t have to worry about relegation or anything like in the EFL.

Pity a proper fight didn’t break out, those are fun for first timers. DJ plays the Rocky theme and shit. Hopefully we can make the playoffs again in a couple years when the new arena finishes construction.

  2. some of the press level tickets can be a little rough, I try and get first row down in the lower bit of press level and those have worked for me so far

  3. Super glad to hear you had a good time! Took my daughter to her first NHL game last night at the dome as well

  4. You should check out some Wranglers games. It’s a lot more affordable and you get to see some really great players before they make the NHL.

  5. first 3 rows of press level are better than half of the level 2 seats in my opinion
