Paul Maurice, Panthers Postgame: Florida Loses Fourth Straight, Nashville Predators Win in OT
Um, I I think there was offense to had by both teams. I think both teams penalty kill was really good and it’s a one-1 game at the end because the goalies are good. What kind of changed in that third period there? Well, we come out, we’re in the box for for four minutes in the first five minutes and I at that point in time have run that top end to guys that we’ve had so many minutes on the power play and there’s not much rest for them. So, uh, we they got a little quicker than we did. Most of their action came in a barrage of shots. It wasn’t, uh, sustained. It was the shift after the, uh, the penalty kill. They got in on us. Um, that’s it. How are you going to keep the confidence up when the goals are coming here? Yeah. I mean, you’re not going to be confident. So, they, you know, it’s run around. It’s, it’s an impossible thing to give. It’s got to be earned and you just need to stack up smaller plays, break your game down to incremental things, moving the puck on the tape, finishing checks, just getting pucks on the net instead of paying picking corners, but you know, we’re cracking post right now and uh at least that that part’s there, the opportunities there. A little bit about the second period. You guys had seemed like all the momentum. You had the four-minute power play and um just sorrows I I would guess. Oh, he made a bunch. Look, no, he made a bunch of big saves for sure. Um and and we missed some chances, but uh he’s a good pro and good goalender. He does that a lot of nights. So then it’s even it’s still uh it’s a onegoal game. It’s a one-shot game the entire night basically for both teams. Paul, just your view on the overtime goal. Obviously net coming off just that’s the rule. If you if you knock the net off and across the line it’s good. Thank you. All right.
Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice meets the media after his team lost 2-1 in overtime to the Nashville Predators on Dec. 4, 2025 in Sunrise.
Florida has lost four straight and five of six. The five-game home losing streak is the team’s longest since near what would be the end of the 2019-20 season when Florida lost eight straight in Sunrise.
Carter Verhaeghe, coming off the birth of his first child, scored the lone goal for the Panthers; Sergei Bobrovsky made 27 saves.
Florida went 0-for-6 on the power play; Nashville went 0-5. The Predators won it with 57 seconds left in OT on a goal by Steven Stamkos.
The Panthers play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday afternoon, with the New York Islanders in on Sunday.

When Chucky comes back we have to Lock TF in!
This game felt like it was going to end the way that it did, at least they got a loser point.
Morale gotta be real low in that room rn, cmon guys you can figure it out!
Не хочу больше болеть за команду, которой не нужны победы и игра которых зависит от их морального духа или с какой ноги они встали с утра…….идите к черту пантеры…….я больше не ваша болельщица, никогда!
Defense needs to build a cage around our goalie, and never step out when defending, unless the puck is back in play on our side. Offense needs to stop rushing for solo plays, passing and building a play is key. Clear the puck when needed asap, preferably along the wall to dump it as far as possible and get back in the FLP hockey. Sticks need to stay down to look for pucks, at all times. More importantly, players need to play using their strengths and feeding their teammates…. Idk shit about hockey tho, just love this team ✌️💜 you got this team!
So sick of .500 hockey.
Their offense is incredibly sporadic right now. They're rarely if ever setting up the play. The ability to dump the puck into the zone then collapse on the boards is missing on 80% of zone entries. Guys are running into each other because they're out of position. The passes are becoming hard to telegraph because the guys don't know where the other is going to be. Stop trying to be cute, stop trying to be creative with the puck, set up the offense, play hard against the boards, and pick your shots. So many times last night they were rushing the attack. Saros played great, but Saros didn't beat them, their shot selection did.
