  1. Maybe if he keeps scoring, and only if he’s scoring… oh and winning. Because we know that’s how that works.

  2. The Norris is a point race.. and also Cal Makar… gotta beat him out and hes on the best team in the league right now. Sucks cause MO plays some hard ass mins all the time and finally getting some credit this year.

  3. Regardless if Mo gets just a handful of Norris votes this season, he’s carving out a place as one of the most well rounded defenders in the league, which is more important than what the Norris has turned into imo.

  4. The Norris runs through Cale Makar. If he plays 80% of a season and the Avs are a top team, it’s his to lose. Love Mo, but he doesn’t impact a game nearly as much as a Makar, Heiskanen, Hedman IMO. He probably will if he had some real damn help.

Mo is in a tough spot having been the only good defender on a shit team for years. Hes had some hard minutes against top players, and done a great job. But so does Makar, while putting up 90 points and leading his team to deep playoff runs and a Cup.

Mo will have to put up 70+ points, while helping drag the Wings to a playoff spot, and have great advanced analytics. Makar is on pace to finish with 100 points and the Avs are absolutely dominating the league.

  5. Correct me if I’m wrong, but xgoals% is not a defensive metric. It just means Seider is on the ice when we outscore the opposition (xgoals for div by (xgoals for + xgoals against)). It’s quality of scoring chances. As long as the big guns, like Larkin, Raymond, and DeBrincat, continue to outscore while Seider-Edvinsson is on the ice, this number is going to be high.

A better metric is xgoals against — preventing the opposing team from generating scoring chances. And there, Seider-Chiarot rank 5th at 6.9, while Seider-Edvinsson rank 27th at 9.8.

EDIT: even better metric is xgoals against per 60. There Seider-Edvinsson is 8th at 2.05, while Seider-Chiarot is 15th at 2.28

On the opposite end is Chiarot-ASP ranked 68th at 3.13, showing just how much ASP struggles defensively.

  6. Unfortunately, he won’t.   Norris has turned into the best offensive defenseman in the league.   Think Selke but flipped
