Would martial arts Michael Young be able to take prime Texas Rangers Michael Young in a fight?
I know you’re doing a lot of martial arts. Uh I I’m not exactly sure exactly what you’re doing with it. I’d love to learn more about that, but I want to know if you were right now at age 49 were to go back to that guy that was lifting weights with Kinsler when Josh Hamilton walks in and you guys bump shoulders, who wins that fight? 40-year-old Michael Young with all his martial arts training now or the dude pumping 275 with Josh Hamilton? Oh yeah, me now for sure. Um I think martial arts is great. It’s an incredible discipline. It u And for me, I mentioned the competition thing. I got into this probably about a year and a half before I retired. And the main reason was one, my kids were doing it, so I wanted a way to connect with them. But two, I had seen guys who had retired. I knew retirement was potentially it was on the forecast. I didn’t know when it was going to happen, but it was it was getting close. So, I wanted to the opportunity to compete at something else. So, that was kind of like the the brains behind it. Um, but I learned a ton. I got beat up a lot. Uh it’s one of those things where when I first went in there and I was sparring with a bunch of guys and grappling with a bunch of guys, they all because it was in Dallas, they all knew who I was. So if you think that they were like, “We’re going to take it easy on this guy,” you are mistaken. It was, “Let’s kick the out of this guy and show him what this is really all about.” And they were dead serious. [Music]
