Report: Cubs interested in Alex Bregman and Tatsuya Imai

Here we go again folks. A lot of Cubs news today, but for sure the biggest news is from Sahad Chararma and Patrick Moody from the Athletic who say that the Cubs have shown renewed interest in Alex Bregman. Bruce Levine also reported that the Cubs will be a strong player for Japanese pitcher Tatsuya Ei, who if you’ve listened to Wrigleyville forever, I desperately want since they didn’t get Dylan CE. Annie was also on the radio today saying the Cubs have 50 to60 million more dollars to spend for next season, which is partly true. They’re like 50 million before the first tier luxury tax. So read that however you want to read it. Obviously, there’s money to spend. I could go in depth on Alex Bregman. I could go in depth on the importance of Tatsuya into the starting rotation. I just don’t know if they really will go all the way to the first tier luxury tax. I’m definitely in the camp of I’ll believe it when I see it. I think pitching is so much more important for this Cubs team going into 2026. But hey, you got to replace Kyle Tucker with someone, right? It’d be nice if they just got both.

Reports before the Winter Meetings say the Cubs will be a strong player for Tatsuya Imai and there is renewed interest in Alex Bregman.
