I just wanted to know from the fans here — who are we actually better than, roster-wise or overall, among the top 7 when everyone’s healthy? And are we really a top 4 seed? I watch a lot of basketball after my classes, and obviously the Wolves are my team (duh), but I still watch a ton of the other teams too. I’m still optimistic, but the competition is so good — every team in the top 7 has a legit case to finish top 4 ( and yes i used a grammar robot to correct my phrase english is my 3rd language, i speak french from montreal, i didn’t wanted to sound rude or wtv)

It’s hard to say right now. I think we are a good team but we are also one of the few healthy teams in the West right now. I’ll be happy as long as we stay in the top 6
Penix, spur, probably rocket and LA… but you’d never guess it with the way these bums play rn
I think we’re worse than a healthy OKC, Houston, and the Spurs. I’d say we’re the 4th best in the West rn
Take out the suns. Thunder are the clear 1 seed. 2-6 are interchangeable. By the time playoffs come we can beat any of these teams in a 7 game series. We still have work to do to show we can beat the Thunder in a series.
5-6 seed at peak. Zero shot to beat OKC, Denver, or Houston.
It’s all matchup based in the west. Nuggets looked like they could beat OKC last year while getting owned by us constantly. This year it’s hard to say with how bad the defense is when Rudy is off the court though. They need to find their effort and soon.
As much as it hurts to say, a lot of the west got better. We will be lucky to get back to the WCF again.
To be honest for the second seed ill wait for spurs vs okc , they match them when you deep down look at it when everybody healthy , ill not be surprised if them beat them
OKC is a juggernaut. I don’t think our roster gets past them. Everyone else I say we have a shot in a seven game series.
We would be 2nd in the west rn if finch wasn’t a terrorist smh I need finch gone today
Wolves are probably 6th best in the WC. Maybe they can pass SA if Wemby misses more games. Loss of NAW hurts because he was one guy you could count on to bring it every night. The fact he is averaging 20 PPG on insane efficiency makes it that much worse.
Enjoying the season but the Wolves have gotten “oldish” and are not as good as the teams in front of them.
Wolves in 5
I’d be very surprised if we made the WCF again. It’s surprising if any team makes it there 3 consecutive years.
At least now I don’t believe this team has improved compared to last year. I hope that improvement comes over the course of the year.
If we are on we can reasonably be the #2 seed. I believe Ant is that good.
Talent-wise, the Wolves can beat anyone and honestly they have better players than most of these teams but they make bonehead mistakes too much. OKC plays mistake free ball and flop like a fish so they’re hard to beat.
Our bench has to show up consistently for us to be top 5. That’s what hurt us last year in the playoffs and they are still streaky as hell by the looks. Also Ant can’t have any games like that last pelicans effort, that was trash. When he’s on I’m not sure this team is worse than 4, when he’s not they might be 6 at best.
I don’t think we’re top 4. Fully healthy we’re in the 5-6 range with SAS. We’re dangerous though I don’t think many teams would be excited about a series against us.
Wolves are better than the Lakers, Spurs, and Suns. Could beat the Nuggets or Rockets in a playoff series. I think the Wolves are the 4th best team in the west at their best. I also think, barring injury, no one has any chance to beat OKC.
I think a series against everyone above us could go either way (except OKC). Prob give us the edge against rockets and spurs bc they’ve never won a playoff series. Lakers and nuggets got better and would be a battle
The wolves don’t reallly play as a unit that’s greater than the sum of the parts. They lack the unit cohesiveness/identy that they need to contend this year. They’re a good team, with good talent, but they’re probably at best a 3 seed
The spurs and even that’s close
Id put us at roughly the same level as everyone but OKC
I don’t know, but the wolves have gotten better in the second half in every Chris Finch year except 23/24
i think Wolves are easily in the top 4 based on overall talent and roster construction. I don’t believe that the Lakers woes are finished. Spurs are still a very young and untested team. if the Wolves play well i don’t think the 4 seed is out of the picture.
OKC is a tier above.
Rockets, Lakers, Nuggets are top 4 teams.
Spurs, Suns, and Wolves all have the potential to make it past the first round, or lose a string of stupid games and end up in the bottom of the play-in.
This team is not a top team right now. The Wolves have had a very very easy schedule.
Talent wise, Wolves are at best 6th.
There is no feasible way to really improve that. What they are hoping to do is keep the team together and hope they gel enough to beat these teams in the playoffs.
The Lakers and Spurs.
We’ll be top 4 by Xmas and you can book it. We won’t lose another game till OKC and that’s a toss up
I don’t believe in the spurs or suns until I see quite a bit more from them. Everyone else is legit esp. OKC obviously. I think we’re competitive with all the teams ahead of us but nothing will come easy. Continuity was obviously not the magic bullet to make us a top team.
I think the 4 seed is our ceiling right now, assuming we don’t make a move at the trade deadline. We haven’t shown an ability to beat quality teams yet this year and our vets are showing their age. We need Jaden to take the next step from a 3&D specialist to a genuine 2 way star (and he has looked the part when more prominently featured on the offensive end). Naz and Divo need to be less streaky and turnover prone. TSJ needs to be a productive member off the bench. Finch needs to figure out how to counter the Ant double/triple teams and get the team more focused. The missed free throws, the defensive lapses, the over dribbling and head scratching turnovers all need to tighten up.
I think we’re better than everybody except OKC. I also think we could lose a series to everyone except Phoenix. The margin for error in the playoffs will be super slim.
Point differential has us fourth in the West, and that feels right. OKC is the clear no. 1 and then I think a healthy Denver is a clear no. 2, and then it’s kind of a argument about where SAS, HOU, MIN, LAL fit. I have only one East team better than us, so I’d say we’re the fifth or sixth best team in the NBA thus far, with a lot of room for improvement.
You never know in the playoffs who can go on a hot streak (eg, Pacers last year), but realistically I think the wolves’ ceiling is 2nd round or WCF at best. There’s just more exploitable weaknesses in the wolves roster than there is in other top teams, namely only having one dependable ball handler.
Either way, it’s fun that we get to talk about 3 straight playoff runs. Much more enjoyable than the previous 15 years.
Honestly the thunder might just have shit locked up for the time being unfortunately
OKC is pretty much unbeatable for us. Maybe Denver or Houston can take them out with luck.
I like our chances better against Houston than against Denver but we have a solid chance against both in a 7 game series.
I’d hate playing against the Lakers. I’d think it’s 50/50 against them, but Luka is annoying to play against
Spurs are beatable for us, but we shouldn’t underestimat them.
Were better than Phoenix and should beat them in the playoffs.
So as always it’s very matchup dependent.
We will land anywhere between first round exit and WCF
Wolves have peaked at the right time the past two years. So I think it will be important to see how many games Wemby, KD and LeBron play this season. It’s a long year. Obviously, the Thunder are massive favorites again. But we have a WCF in us again especially with how Jaden and Randle are playing.
This won’t be the final the team roster wise at the end of the season.
We will make a trade before the deadline.
1. Fully confident we can beat the lakers in a 7 game series again. 2. We could beat OKC if we dial in during the clutch moments of the game but that has been our primary issue this season. Them not getting glazed by the refs would help too. 3. Denver is always a good matchup that we usually come out on top on but the games will be close. 4. I’m not worried about the suns at all honestly.
I think this team can go all the way. I think they know they can go all the way. They’re bored and hibernating, waiting for a return to form. It’ll come. We’ll lock in when it matters most and go toe to toe with OKC. I might be less optimistic when I’m sober. But I’m not sober. Naz Reid.
OKC & Denver will give the Wolves problems. Houston possibly, but I feel that they can take the others given they stay healthy and find a PG that will create more opportunities for the players.
Honestly, if (IF) everything clicks I think only OKC and Denver are better than us
I think we have proven that we are a dangerous post season team. I like our chances against any team in a seven game series outside of the Thunder. I think Denver is a little better than us when healthy too but it’s close. Everyone else I think we have an edge.
Hopefully the team we play loses their best player for the series
Our schedule has been easy and honestly, we should be 16-6. Sometimes, we have struggled to beat bad teams and played down to their level.
At the same time, if we can put it together – we will be a top, top team. That 4th quarter against a good Spurs team comes to mind.
Talent wise, especially if we acquire a proper point guard, i feel like we should be ahead of all western teams aside from LA and OKC
Our starting lineup is great. We need more consistent play on defense, especiallywhen Rudy isn’ton the floor, and more production from the bench.
If TJ Shannon in particular started playing better it would help a lot. People rag on 20 year old Dillingham but Shannon was a four year player in college, he’s like 25 years old. He was supposed to be plug and play, ready to go. Maybe he is still getting his feet under him post injury.
DDV and Jaden are having really good seasons. Ant is doing great. Rudy’s having a decent year. Naz started a little slow but he’s getting back to Naz Reid hooping.
