Which big name pitchers should the Mets target this offseason?
The stove is certainly heating
up as John Harper and Chris LoPresti joined the show harp.
What do you make of the Mets? Being one of the favorites for
Valdez? Well, they seem to be in on everybody according to a lot of the reports Julie but it makes a lot of sense. I mean,
we’ve talked about Valdez before, he might be the most
accomplished of All These Guys. These free agents are out there.
It’s going to taste seems like it’s and take a real
long-term deal to get a maybe I think that like a seven-year
deal. So I mean it makes sense, as long
as Mets, get one of these guys. I would personally go for Suarez
because I think it’ll be a a little cheaper and I think he’s got a proven
postseason record. It matches up with Valdez but Valdez is may
be the top guy out there now. So I mean, we’ll see. I
think there’s more than just two teams. Don’t know for sure.
Yeah. And the among the favorites, yeah, wording their pre-winter
meetings and when it’s the Mets and you got Steve cones
bankroll. I mean, I think any agent would be happy to have his
clients name attached to the message Oculus. I said,
yeah. And I’m not saying that’s the case here, but you know,
just a week or so ago, it was, hey, the Mets didn’t even talk to his
camp at the GM meeting. So, it’s Our this time of year to gather what exactly is factual? What’s
not, what’s coming from what certain source? So on and
so forth. Look an accomplished pitcher, no
doubt, I have a little, I have some concerns about that
thing that happened with the catcher, down the stretch
with the Astros. And look, I
mean, I get it, he’s pitched in big
games, the Astros are very accomplished. He’s been there for a lot of the success but you
know, pitching in this Market East Coast, New York,
huge deal. Yeah. I mean, I so I just I’d be a little cautious
there to your point. There are some other options. I think
might make a little bit more sense both from a fit standpoint and a financial standpoint. Not that
the mess aren’t necessarily always worried about the
finances because they have plenty of money to spend but I
don’t know that I’d put him at the very top of my list. All
right, some of those other option fines and also reports both the Mets and
Yankees are interested in Michael King socio which team
do you think, would be a better fit for him? That’s
Yankee. I like the Mets I mean look we obviously we’ve seen him
with the Yankees in a different role not that the
Yankees couldn’t benefit from his services but you know, I
don’t know that there’s certainly more of a need with
the Mets. I put it that way. With the Yankees and Nicole’s
going to be coming back road. I’ll be back in the early part
of the Season at some point Clark Schmidt, you know. They
just invested in Max freed. You’ve got cams lifter there.
Now you got Louise. He’ll, I don’t know that. The Yankees are really looking to scho and
spend big on another starting pitcher, whereas, we know this
is a need for the Mets going into this offseason. It’s Not
The Only Name, maybe he’s not the very top of the list.
Either. There’s some injury concerns and history there as well. But in terms of looking to plug
a spot and fill a hole in the rotation. For me, at least I
like the Mets and make sense. They’re the only thing my My
thing would be, I would say Yankees because as you said
Kings had some injury history there and the Mets, they need a little
more certainty, is the award that GM’s like to use
in that rotation now, whereas the Yankees, I feel like they
could change take a chance on
King because the depth you said we’re
going to have guys coming back and they and King might
have the highest ceiling of all these guys, because when he’s right man, he’s got some of that Maddox
like movement. He moves up all over the place. So I think the
Yankees could take that chance and if he, you know, again,
maybe 80 to 100, anything could live with that. As long as he’s hopefully in October the Mets, feel like Ben, you need a guy who’s just a
durable who’s going to be there, started in start out
because of all the injury problems they had last year.
Well, ESPN’s Buster Olney reports. The Tigers continue to
speak with teams about a potential tarek’s. Kubal
trade, though the asking price,
is quote, a normal heart. Should the Mets pay an
enormous price for school? What exactly is enormous? That’s what
we need to know. Julie, I look, I mean I’m going to
throw try to get him. If I’m the Mets, he’s really available.
I still, I think that what they might be
doing is pregnant. Price tag so high. That would they’re going
to come back and say, well, nobody not the price tags from
what kind of force to keep him. So look, if you’re the Mets
time, you can’t give up McClain. That’s for sure, I’ll
give up just about anybody will face. I would really want to hang on
the bench to Carson benj. Look if you have to give up both
Sprout and tongue, that’s a hard ass for one year of
school ball, only one year but
maybe you do it because he’s that good
you can win a championship with him. So just I’m not giving up McClain
and try not to give a bench. Yeah. I mean enormous, I think maybe you
shoot for the stars this Each heading into the winter meetings
from a tiger standpoint and then it’s like
okay you shoot for the stars and then teams come in a little
bit lower than that. And you set the you set the parameters, maybe you feel like
you came away with a pretty decent package, you know, I’m of
the opinion that if you’re going to give up a hall for this
guy, you don’t want it to be just for the one year. So I’m
not saying he’s going to sign on the dotted line and
extension. Headers free agency review. Of course he wants to
get paid. He’s gonna want to get to the open market but if I’m the Mets and I’m
giving up the prospects and the you know, all that it would
take to get him. I want to make sure sure. I have a pretty good
feel that I could sign up for the long term.

Valdez is the only FA pitcher that fits as an Ace which is what they need. Harper keeps going on on Suarez please no. They have too many 3 types as it is and that is what Suarez is.
Loprestis always ontime to sny
No fat toads.
Unfortunately the pitcher market is kinda light this year. Next year with Skubal leading the way is when the pitching market will heat up.
Wait for the trade deadline when better quality options are available like Skubal, Peralta, Alcantara, Cabrera, Ryan, Lopez, Gore.
In the meantime, try to sign clubhouse leaders like Schwarber, Bregman, Realmuto and strengthen bullpen with Fairbanks, Weaver, Dominguez.
Hire Kevin Kiermaier to help with outfield defence.
Anyone that can pitch past the 4th inning
I’m all for Valdez but it’s gotta be team friendly in a way, major deferments
Yo fuera por Fredy Peralta y Michael Kings, Manaea y Pederson pueden hacer el trabajo de zurdo, además de Cristian Scott, Nolan Mclean y Brandon Sprosh
O busco a Skubal y Michael Kong
O Skubal y Freddy Peralta
Why would you punt on Senga just to get another guy that has injury risk like king?
I know why SNY goes through this. But I Cringe when SNY does. It’s fun & nice to think what could be. But David Stearns doesn’t belong in New York. He’s a mid level GM at best. He’s not going to acquire any of these players your mentioning. He doesn’t know who they are. He’s going to read a Fantasy Baseball Magazine of Blog gather a bunch of numbers he feels are important & choose players who are injured-coming off an injury-some who can’t play this year or next year. All players who are over 30 whom have had dismal careers so far. David Stearns seems to lack the Ability to recognize or develop talent. You talk about trading prospects. Why not bring them up & play them. The team needs to get faster & younger one of these days
Framber Valdez is consistent bonafide number 2 and a workhorse that saves the pen… he is number one priority and it’s not even close
mets strategy every season for yrs now: buy everyone and then act confused when the team is inevitably mediocre with zero chemistry. Hang those offseason championship banners baby!
Nothing is happening here
Valdez ?! After seeing what he did to his catcher ?? No thanks!!
