Making A Video About The Blazers So They Win More Games
So, our Blazers this year, it’s uh it’s been a rough go of it. We’re we’re struggling a little bit right now. Not doing too good. So, uh we figured, you know, got this whole synthetic sports curse gimmick going. So, you know, going to try to use it to help our boys get back on track. Yeah, we desperately need it. Early in the season, I was high off the copium. Said we were going to be betting the Lakers. And if we’re going to do that, we got to turn things around real quick. Before [Music] [Music] we start talking about the Blazer season so far, if you haven’t already, make sure this video a like, give us a subscribe, and hit that notification bell so you never miss out on one of our videos. All right, so yeah, a bit of a meta, you know, title and video idea here. To anyone unfamiliar, we have been accused of bringing forth this synthetic sports curse where, you know, we make a video about a team, either a positive or a negative one, and their fortunes immediately turned for either the worse or for the better. We did it to the 76ers. You know, we hyped them up early in the season. They’ve fallen off quite a bit since then. Did it to the Mavericks, made a video on how everything’s getting worse for them. Next day, probably the best day the franchise has had in over a year. They fired Nico Harrison. And maybe worst of all, last year in the playoffs making a video on the Celtics after they won game three against the Knicks in the playoffs, saying they had quote saved their season, only for Jason Tatum to blow out his Achilles not even 12 hours later. That one was out of pocket. I’m sorry Celtics fans. I mean, they’re still feeling it to this day cuz he hasn’t played since. Had to go back and change the title like right after it happened, right? So, we’ve been kind of using this power without care, you know, kind of just causing chaos in the NBA. But, as Uncle Ben once said, great power comes great responsibility. So, let’s try to use this, you know, curse ability we have to hopefully turn around our own team cuz we’ve been pretty this year. Yeah, going into the year we didn’t expect a ton. My prediction was kind of like a little bit over 500, but most people had the Blazers around like 500. I mean, I did say early in the season we’d be betting the Lakers. That takes on life support right now. You know, it’s mathematically still possible. Well, a lot of things are mathematically possible. Yeah. I mean, I necessarily think we’d be great anyways. I thought the Lakers would just be mid and so far they’ve been pretty good, but they’ve had a cupcake schedule. But obviously they’re going to be better than us. We were just at least hoping to get back in the playoff picture. I mean, at least make the playin, which I still think will happen, but 22 games into the season, you know, a little bit more than 25% through the year and we’re 9 and 13, barely hanging on to that 10 seed. We did somehow beat the Cavs tonight, so maybe that turns things around. I don’t know. But still not a great start to the season. We also lost to two buzzer beaters in the first fourth of the season, which is like what the I mean, we’re the only team in NBA history that’s had three buzzer beaters in a calendar year on us. So, and I think I saw another stat. Out of all the teams in NBA history, we’re the one who’s gotten buzzer beaters on us the most times. So, you know, just makes sense. Yeah, it’s life as a Blazer fan. I mean, the season started out okay. You know, our coach got arrested in a gambling scandal, which was a little bit weird. That was a little bit weird. We didn’t see that one coming, right? But we still got off to, you know, that 5 and3 start. Had wins over the Warriors, the Nuggets. At time of this recording, we’re still the only team in the league that’s beaten the Thunder. That’s so funny. We’ve only beaten them one out of three tries. But still, we did get them that one time and since then, I mean, just nothing’s gone right. But let’s let’s start with some positives, the good things. Number one, Denny Oav has been phenomenal. I mean, he’s been by far our best player, averaging 25 points a game, over seven boards, nearly six assists per game. More often than not, he’s the only like consistent source of offense we have. He can shoot. He can get to the rim. He’s a serviceable defender. If there’s one negative about his play, and this is kind of a little anecdotal, it might be hard to prove. Feels like he misses a lot of like free throws in the fourth quarter, especially. He has recently at least. Yeah, like that Spurs game. Did he miss like four in a row in the fourth quarter? That was brutal. Yeah, but he hasn’t missed a game so far this season. He’s been incredible. He’s still only 24, so he’s looking like potential future superstar. Bargain contract, too. Yeah, insane contract. We have no complaints. Shaden Sharp, you know, he’s improved since that early season slump. I personally wasn’t super worried, but he did have a bad start to the season. His three-point percentage still isn’t great, but overall like his shooting percentage is way up since that start. Scoring’s up, rebounds are up, assists are up. The three-point percentage you’d like to be better, especially like as like a star guard potentially in the future. He’s going to have to be good at threes. Like, you just have to be in the NBA to play his play style. I’d like to see him put a little more arc on his shot. Like his shot this year is really really flat. Like even going back and looking at clips of him like his rookie year, he puts a lot more arc on his shots. Like I’m not really one to talk. My shot is actually super flat as well, but like it leads to a lot of, you know, just hitting the back room and the ball comes flying out. It seems like that’s how Shaden misses like 80% of his threes. But I mean, he’s not even 23 yet. He’s not going to turn 23 till May of next year. So, like we’re perfectly fine with his development. Continues to get better every single year. And maybe like the biggest surprise of the season, honestly, Jeremy Grant has found himself again. Like last year, he was terrible. Oh, he was so bad last year. He would even admit that every single Blazer fan was trying to find a trade where we could just dump him and his contract. Like, if we have to give up one first round pick to get rid of him, we probably would have been over the moon about that. Yeah. like when he signed his extension, you know, it was already looking like a massive deal. Everyone was making the jokes like Dame on his way out, got his friend paid. That still, you know, kind of might be true. His contract still sucks, but you know, we’re getting closer and closer to being expiring. As long as he can just provide this, you know, off the bench where he was starting for most of the season before all these injuries, which we’ll talk about, I’d be fine. You’re still overpaying for him. He’s still, you know, getting up there in age, but man, he’s been balling out to start this season. Yeah. I mean, if you do end up wanting to move him. The fact that he’s been playing so well, it makes it just a little bit easier. Still still probably won’t be easy, but it’s still, you know, you’re probably not giving up a ton of assets to get rid of him anymore. So, that’s been all the good stuff. Bad stuff has been basically everything else. Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. Blazers have been clobbered by injuries. And not just injuries to like the team as a whole. Injuries to one position group. Like, at the time of this recording, the top four point guards on the Blazers are all injured. Dame’s out with the Achilles for the year. Obviously, Scoot is still out with a torn hamstring. Hasn’t played a game all season. Drew Holidayiday is out with a calf injury. And Blake Wesley broke a bone in his foot and is probably out for another two months at this point. Also, fun fact, if you go to the Blizzard’s injury report on ESPN and you look under Dame status, it says, quote, “Lillard won’t be back on the court for the 25 26th season as he made clear during an interview with YouTube influencer Speed on Wednesday.” So, appreciate that ESPN and appreciate that Speed doing the doing some like quality reporting out there. Honestly, you know, he beat Shams to the story at least. So, it’s been like 2 and 1/2 weeks without like a true point guard. I mean, technically, we got Caleb Love on Bass Reference. I checked, he’s listed as a shooting guard and, you know, with the way he plays, I’m not even counting him as a point guard because he’s never seen a shot he doesn’t like. I was going to say that exact phrase. It’s absolutely insane. Denny Odia, you know, he’s been doing his best to play that point guard role and like he can handle the ball distribute. you know, he’s had some triple doubles, 30 point triple doubles, you know, during this stretch. Shaden’s played a bit of point guard, which definitely is not his natural role whatsoever. As mentioned, Caleb Love has spent time at point guard, and, you know, we’ll love him for, you know, just destroying staff and the Warriors on the road, dropping 26, had that legacy game. One of the funniest just random outbreak games of all time. But he’s not a true point guard. He hucks up every shot, every time he gets the ball, you know. Love him. He’s on the Blazers, but these are facts. So, because of that, you know, the offense has struggled like outside of Denny, Shaden, Jeremy, most of the guys on the Blazers that are healthy and playing right now, just they simply cannot create their own shot. We knew that going into the season without point guards to set them up. It has been evidently clear on the basketball court. Yeah, I mean, without a guy like Drew who’s, you know, like a veteran presence, you can, you know, settle the team down, make the right passes, make sure you get a good shot on most possessions. you know, guys like Chris Murray and, you know, Klingan and they’ve struggled and without Scoot, you know, he’s not a superstar or anything, but he’s at least a serviceable, competent point guard you can bring off the bench. Like, the offense has just been stagnant. But really, it’s the defense that’s been a bigger surprise. It has been outright bad this season. And again, you could chalk a lot of this up to injuries. Like early in the year, Drew Holiday and Blake Wesley wereounding opposing guards. I mean, Ant, Harden, and Steph all commended the Blazers defensive effort and disruption early in the season. Plus, Matis Thyel, he’s missed most of the entire season. He was expected to be another big piece of our perimeter defense. But I mean another reason our defense hasn’t been as good as expected. Toi Kamaro’s been awful this season. Yeah, I mean he has picked it up a little bit recently and I’m not super worried about it but yeah, he has not been good or at least had expectations probably on both ends of the court. I mean after last year like he really made this massive jump not just on defense which everyone you know knows him for but offensively he showed some things. He shot 37% from three last year. Yeah, we did have some insane Blazer fans trying to say he was like the future Jimmy Butler, which you know, even me high on the copium can at least see through that. Well, at least they went for Jimmy and not like, “Oh, can he be the next Kawawaii?” Although, someone probably did do that. I mean, Blazer fans, you know, we’ve we have more stories that that’s the type of they do, but you know, his three-point shot just it’s been terrible, which he has picked it up. these last three games he’s been shooting the lights out. But prior to that, like he’s taken a lot of threes, seven a game, and he’s not really hit. Yeah. And like the rest of his offensive game, like his handle is still pretty shaky. He still hasn’t developed the ability to like consistently get past defenders and get to the rim. And then like his calling card, his defense, like I think he’s been fine. I think he’s getting a bad rap from fans right now because, you know, we’re losing and we’re frustrated and we’re giving up a lot of points. But I mean, considering he was all defensive second team last year and this year he’s got the third worst defensive rating on the entire team, it’s just like what the hell happened? And like I feel like his his focus and his defensive IQ just isn’t what it was last season. Like Thinking Basketball has a great video from last year where they highlighted not just Tammani’s like physical abilities on the defensive end, but like his IQ, his ability to diagnose plays before they happen, his ability to, you know, read and react to situations. And this year it feels like he’s getting caught ball watching a lot. I mean, he basically gave up that buzzer beater to Vousvich because he gets caught ball watching, helps way too far off of him, can’t recover, and the Blazers give up a wide open three-point buzzer beater when we were up two. So, you need to stop them from shooting the three. If they get a two, it’s fine. You go to overtime. You cannot give up a three under any situation. Again, I think part of this is the fact that we don’t have a point guard, especially in the offensive end. I mean, Tammani is a defensive first player. He’s got a decent three when he’s left wide open, but he needs a guard that can set him up, get him open shots. if he cuts to the rim, can find him on time. And then like defensively, Tammani’s great, but he’s not a miracle worker. And the Blazers are missing three of their best perimeter defenders. So for most games out there, he’s being asked not only to guard the other team’s best player, but to now create on the offensive end for himself as well. Yeah, I’m not super worried about him, but you know, he did get that, you know, sizable contract off one really good season really. So, you know, we got to keep that in mind. But I think, you know, as guys get healthy, as he’s got a point guard, things will improve. So, you know, overall the season’s not going great. This is our, you know, prayer to fix it. The synthetic sports curse, um, you know, it’s losing a bit of luster with the Thunder just dominating after we made the video on them. So, they are frustratingly immune to it. Yeah. Which I can’t say I’m super surprised. I mean, overall, like, they desperately need Drew and Scoot to get healthy ASAP. I think Drew specifically Drew was probably our second best player before he got hurt. Drew is our second best player. I think just overall his experience, his defensive ability, and definitely the second most important player to lead the offense, run the offense and everything and make smart plays. Yeah. I mean, we cannot keep running this team out there with no true point guard. No, we can’t. It’s disgusting. And this team, they can turn this around, I think, at least. You know, we’re obviously biased as hell, but we’re going to say it. The first few weeks of the season, I mean, we showed some things. Players were saying no more easy nights in Portland. you had wins over the Warriors, the Nuggets, the Thunder. Like, you know, the Warriors haven’t been great, but the Nuggets and Thunder, that’s two teams at the top of the West. So, you showed some things. They’re a little rough around the edges, but you know, you saw like an improvement from the previous year, right? Yeah. Great defense, leading the league in steals, and yeah, with guys injured and maybe it was going to regress to the meet anyways, it’s falling apart. Yeah. And I mean, I hope we turn it around. Not just for the obvious reason that we’re fans of the team. We want to see him win, but like I made a thumbnail for a potential Blazers hype video that kind of leans into the whole, you know, Portland Mafia meme and whatnot. And I just I really like it and I really hope I get to use it at some point. I really hope they’re good enough that I get to use it at some point because I feel like it’s really funny and I would be so mad if I go the entire year. We finished like five games under 500 and I never get to use it. We’re still going to turn around. We’ve had the hardest schedule thus far. We got the easiest remaining. Just wait for the second half of the season. We get Scoop. That’s I was about to say just wait till we get Scoop back. That’s all it takes. Scoot. This is the Scoop breakout year, baby. That’s the video, guys. What do you think the Blazers are going to be for the rest of the season? I’d love to hear what you have to say in the comments down below. If you enjoyed the video, consider leaving it a like as it really does help us out. And while you’re here, why not check out some other videos as well? And don’t forget to subscribe to Synthetic Sports.
So our Portland Trail Blazers have been… kinda weird so far thus year. Our season started with our coach getting arrested which took EVERYONE by surprise but after that we were playing pretty good ball for the first couple weeks of the season and are still the only team in the NBA to beat the Thunder. But we’ve fallen off a bit since then so lets try to use the Synthetic Sports curse to fix our own team…

Can you "curse" my beloved Baltimore Ravens? š
4:02 no complaints about your best player being a Zionist, genocidal IDF soldier?
That Dame buzzer beater playoff shot forever made the OKC immune to the synthetic sports curse.
Not even a second in and we already got the mention
1:22 as a Celtics fan, Iāll never forgive yāall for that.
Please make a video about how the Miami Heat never land a star⦠š
They have promise though, because the trailblazers have been keeping it close in games. The cavs look like pretenders.

The main reason I want them to be better now is to see that Mafia thumbnail!
Let's create some kind of spirit bomb for the Blazers, that'll do the trick.
– I wish this would work for sure. I still sincerely believe and am fully committed to my 40-44 wins this year for the Blazers. But the Blazers are playing as they do – carrying on their tradition of imploding when it matters most, and losing to the teams we easily should beat, then beating the teams we have no business beating. So typical.
– This team needs to work on their free throws man. It drives me nuts how many free throws this team bricks. Bricks Murray and Deni are especially irritating there. For the Deni fans who keep saying "but he's averaging over 80% from the line", remember this summer in the EuroLeague tournament? He barely managed 60%. He's so inconsistent.
– Donovan has still seemed to have his issue of having butter claws. It's finally looking a little more improved, but he still loses the damn ball anyway, even without pressure.
– Loads of fans keep insisting Shae has played way better offensively this season, which is clearly so false it's ridiculous. I knew he'd look unimproved this year, because his games and workouts in the summer were not good. But also because he has the wrong mentality entirely to get better. He is SO lackadaisical it's annoying at this point. WAAAYYY too laid back man.
– Tou started the season horrendously defensively. He kept making rookie and even middle schooler level mistakes for some weird reason and I cannot figure that out. He's definitely getting into the groove on both ends though as of late. I still believe he'll be our best player on the team, even over Deni by the end of the season. Still my favorite player on the team. NEVER DOUBT TOU!
Basketball gods are making a patch to fix the āsynthetic curseā exploit
This week on two casuals talk about sports: Poverty Franchise troubles
Canāt wait for the vid bout how the clippers sent Chris Paul home
MAKE ANOTHER OKC VIDEO
yall trying to manifest giannis to portland, we all see it
if you make a video about a team that's overperforming, it's more likely they will regress to the mean than keep overperforming. same thing in the other direction. not a curse, just statistics
Blazers are balling !!
DENI lead us the way
Is this the quickest Blazers mention ever?
Curse the celtics again, Brown's still walking.
Glad to see the unabashed love for your own team.
Wait are yall serious? Yāall must donāt have draft pics
Man that 2019 Okc trailblazers series changed history if Okc won maybe pg stays they donāt tank and they remain in mediocrity. Maybe the trailblazers would blow it up earlier and rebuild. Who knows.
Trailblazers not Curse, just very unfortunate
Youve screwed us boys we about to lose every game for the rest of the season because you tried to abuse the curse smh
Yall really said they were gonna be better than a team with Luka, Lebron and Reaves.
You guys strike again, pistons won lol
We just lost to the Pistons š¢
You guys need to trade for Gianniz
My brother you know thatās not how it works
If Milwaukee goes down we're bringing Portland with us
Thanks Dame
Hey so can you make another Mavs video can be about anything tbh just so we win some more games
I'd kill myself if Deni Avdija played for my team
This makes my whole year
Welp the curse is still going strong as the Blazers lost to my Pistons last night š! I like what the Blazers are doing, another solid team to watch and if you are a fan of the game teams like them, Pistons, and the Raptors, you should enjoy watching these young teams grow.
Seem like the Rockets took yall confidence. Havenāt been on shit since then.
Blazers are fine they just need to get healthy, the fact they are hanging tough with good teams and not getting run out the gym every night while being undermanned is encouraging to me. Plus we just got to the point in the season where we have the easiest strength of schedule going forward so perfect time to get healthy and go on a run.
Now that Avdija is getting more free throw calls than SGA, can we call him the free throw merchant?
i would trade shae grant love sissoko reath all the trash and sum first round for gianniswould play deni camara jrue clingan giannis perfect line up can see them win champ frfr
Deni is above 80% FT's 'n you picking on that?!
You beat the thunder
Schedule sounds pretty brutal so far.
