Islanders vs. Lightning | NHL Highlights | December 06, 2025

for the Islanders. Here’s the faceoff sponsored by
Rooms to Go. We are underway. Dave Rand with you. Brian Enbomb between the benches and has been
turning heads all season long here in the NHL. This one is dug out, sent back to the line, works
across by Hidman. Heidman drops off. Long shot just goes past the far post there on Johansson.
The Islanders don’t mess around on their offense. They are four checking team. They throw pucks at
net from everywhere. They look for rebounds and they look to push you back for an extended period
of time in your own end like this. Jay for in the middle give and go play that was cut off and
broken up by Hegel off the glass and just out after an extended shift inside the blue line
by New York. Now this one’s turned over. Here comes Gourd with a shot saved by Soken. Big
rebound back of the net for Yanni Gour. Turn over by Heineman. Yanni Gourd’s going to get
a chance. Watch Gourd looking to the middle. He knows he’s got a guy with him. He knows he
probably is not going to score from there. So, he shoots off the far pad. Everybody always
does. Why didn’t he step back in York for James? Hard snap shot. Good save by Sroen.
Pucks to the net. Get turnovers. Get a look at the net. That’s what James wants. Anytime he
can get a look from there right off the noggin. Yeah, Bohore that smart guy. Your defenseman has
to have a stick in the defensive zone around the net. Here’s Croser. His shot hits the crossar.
Pulls that one down. Here’s Jay Kel. One-on-one with Schaer. Puts it in the middle for Hegel.
Hard one-time. Good glove save by Sroen. And now controlled by Gold. Flips it across to Darren
Rash. Radish sends it in front. And there was Douglas reaching for that one as Srogan made a big
stop on Curtis Douglas. Back come the Islanders. Wrist shot high. Rebounded in front. Pushed
aside by Rad. Islanders come back the other way. Lightning get puck to the net as well. And
that was Douglas. Islanders have not had a shot in seven minutes. Here’s Siplov. He’ll pull
it back cleanly to Schaefer. Schaeer. That’s a shot that reaches the net but a long range wrist
handled easily by Johansson up ahead. Lillberg takes the pass, looks it in towards Srogan. He’ll
kick it aside. York Strand. York Strand after it. Mayfield hard up the opposite side. Bounced
into the middle. Quick shot saved by Sroen. Way down. Bounced away from Yorkstrand. Another
long range shot deflected over the Islanders net and into the corner. picked up by Paul. That was
all started by Moser pitching down on the play. It was a good shot. Here’s another one. And
another save by Zor. Chance for Bjornstrand. Absolutely. It’s put on by I think about it every
single day. Yeah, my if he if he had said no, I my first word out of my mouth would have been
liar. Yeah, Brad has got a stick on that. Broke up that trip up the ice for New York. Here’s
Bjorkstrat. his shot and Srogan wasn’t quite sure and a check behind him as it goes off his
glove and into the netting corner. He’ll drop it back behind the net. Centering attempt there
from Corvette is up with a shot attempt and another save by Austin on that shot by Shabanov.
Lightning get possession of the puck off the draw. Here’s Lillberg trying to turn the corner. Liver
to the net. Big collision with Soken. Here’s Paul. He cannot turn the corner. Schaer stuck with him.
Edmond puts it across. There’s a shot and Sroen sees through the traffic and hangs on. Extra
attackers now on the ice for New York. Here’s Schaer with a shot. Save rebound and Johansson
does cover up. Schaer feeds it down low. You got Horvat in front. Back to Schaer near side. Shave
it off with a shot that goes off a leg over to the far boards. Kicked back by Rozelle. Intercepted by
Littleberg and cleared. Highers like to use a fair amount of motion on their power play. Barcel in
particular, you already got a taste of it there. He’s just that kind of player. He doesn’t want to
stand still anywhere. So, he’ll be moving all over the zone in shape with the guy running the playoff
pump. Good break up by Sell off the ice. Short hand and shoots and Sroen got a piece of that.
Near side pass. Hegel puts it down low. Paul’s in the slot. Here’s Hegel back to Stew again.
Stick works that time. Shot stopped by Sroen. Top of the circle. Wants it down low to Swelli.
Gets it right back. Here’s Hegel again. Takes his time. That’s Stew with a shot. That’s blocked.
Rebound. Soken down. Pass loose. Holds in there. can’t get the shot to go. Pass got away from
Richie. Holmes now with a good feed to Duclair has shot off the post. That’s two post in the last 30
seconds. Johansson says, “Nope, it’s not in.” And then Anthony Duclair I think Johans and he can’t
connect with Selli at the line. Gensel waits puts it across. So he’s there digging to get a stiff
free penalty call coming up here as Stew hangs on the top. Here’s Hegel flag in front. Save by
Sroen right at the doorstep. Serelli got really good shots because of the good reads and good
passes by Brandon Hegel. And then here’s how the last one ended. So Hegel’s got New York Island
and everybody’s getting involved and they made those penalty killers work that last year. And
they control it off the draw. There’s a shot and a save again by Srogana. That one on Hegel. So
teams back to five on five. The Lightning with a total of three shots in their two power play
attempts. Here they come up the ice. Hegel steps in. Leaves for Ginsel. Gensel back to Hegel. Hegel
backand save rebound and it’s pushed just wide. Brink wide to Mayfield. He’s got a lane.
Mayfield with the shot. fought off by Johansson has to avoid that broken stick back of the
net. Pushes that aside and surveys what’s coming up as the London complete a change from
their bench. Those sticks are a nuisance. They they really can be. They can help you sometime.
They can hurt you. Here’s a good pass into the middle. It’s Finley in stop by Sroen. What
a pass up to Finley. And what a chance. Ago and Serelli lead the way with four apiece.
Corvette to the net. Little bouncer and it’s batted away. Pel holds it in. Racing after it
is and Cerilli. Cerilli gets into the corner. This one comes around by Radish. Radish with a
sharp angle shot. Punched down by Sroen again. thrown all the way in by Goldstrand James is up
there. In comes a for check from Paul. Takes that away. Turns and shoots. Knocked out by that glove
of Siroken. A really special hockey game. I know the Lightning fans were frustrated with the
end call for sure. Here’s Douglas towards the net. We had fun though. That was a fun game to
do. Gone to overtime. That’s remarkable. Yeah, those numbers don’t include today. There was
another one today with Colorado. Here’s Pel. His shot saved by Arson on Adam
P. Yeah, another Danny Potban. One of the five first overall picks in
franchise history. Long shot handled by Sroen. Duclair feeds it back to the
line for D’Angelo. D’Angelo a little back pass. Richie with a drive and then it’s
swollen up and held by Yonas Johansson. held in by Angelo. First two minutes are up
on the double mile. Here’s Holmes. His shot hits the post. Littleberg out there with no stick.
It’s broken. Cerelli is just gas. Somebody’s got to give Littleberg a stick though. Put across to
Halstrom. Halstrom to Angel has drive looking for the tip. Richie tucks it in. And the Islanders get
a power play goal to take a one- nothing lead. The broken stick is key. Lillberg’s stick breaks.
He doesn’t have one for a while from Cerelli. He can’t get back to the front of the net. Watch
the exchange here. The Islanders, you got to give them credit for getting the puck down to the area
where Lillberg was. Lillberg can’t get back there. It’s a play at the crease. Johansson can’t get
a hold of this of the puck and they score from a bad angle on a jam play. Well, the only good news
out of that whole sequence was that the Islanders scored during the second. One of the referee
just got on earful from John Cooper again because Gensel on his shift out there killing penalties
in the offensive zone. Got slashed on the hand and was waving his hand around but there was no call
on the play. So Coop got his two cents worth in on that one too. Well, it was a demonster of actions
by the Islanders bench that led to the referee’s blowing the play down. It led to the discussion
to call the double minor against Hegel. So, you can see why he’s ticked about that. So, now
the crowd’s into it trying to take this puck free. They do. Back to Croer with a shot. Save by Sroen.
Doesn’t have a ton of experience in the NHL, but he’s no dummy. There’s a hard shot and
there’s the save by Johansson on Pulock who can really bring the heat off a stick and wide.
Littleberg hard on his man again with Higgin is just catching his breath there after having it
here. Go little and it’s Littleberg and shoots. Saved by Sroen. Centers it. There’s another
shot. Saved by Sroen. He has no idea where it is. Heman can’t get it deep. Turned back by
Duclair. Duclair can go here. He comes gets some help. There’s a shot up high and Johansson
makes a save on that sneaky shot by Gatco’s one guy I think just overdo in a situation. Here
play Sroen is down and he’s got the puckle slows it down. A minute and a half to go. Heel in
shot save and Sroen got it again and holds it back. Here’s Radish. He’s got that bomb from
the point. Du the give Bradish hang over with a shot. Bouncing puck man scramble to front
net by Paul. Now Matt Barcel is able to get this one up in the air and Casey Zikas
into the empty net. And that’s going to do it with 1.6 on the clock. The Islanders are
going to win this thing. And Casey Suzikas is just gassed. He can barely get to the
bench. He knew it was going to go in. He turned around and thought he was going to
fall over here. The Lightning get everything done that they want except getting everything
but in. That guy right there is a big part of the story. Ilia Sroken with a shut up tonight.
And he ties Chico Re for the most in Islanders

  1. The Islanders win again against the Lightning, who they should've beaten in back to back ECFs a couple of years ago and are surging! Let's go Islanders!
