This is UNFORTUNATE news for the Kansas City Chiefs…
Chief’s Kingdom, the final week 14 injury report is in, and there’s one specific name that may actually cause more trouble for us versus the Texans than people may be accounting for. We also have a downgrade on the injury report, and a surprise player is now out going into Sunday’s matchup. Stick around cuz we’re talking all of that, plus giving our Zarda barbecue hot picks of the week for Chiefs versus Texans. If you like what you see, be sure to drop a like and hit that subscribe button if you haven’t already. Let’s get into it. That one specific name we need to worry about is defensive back Christian Roland Wallace, who is officially out with a back injury for this crucial game. This is far more than just a depth loss. Roland Wallace’s absence forces a detrimental shift in the secondary, specifically pushing safety Chamari Connor into a significantly higher number of slot coverage snaps. And frankly, this is a massive issue. When Connor is targeted in the slot this season, the data shows he has struggled mightily, allowing a high completion rate and one of the highest passer ratings in the league. When Roland Wallace is out, that hole in the secondary gets exposed pretty bad. And that liability leads directly to the Chief’s most fundamental defensive weakness, the inability to get off the field on third down. Don’t let the overall numbers fool you. Spag’s defense ranks a solid seventh in points allowed and ninth in yards. But the real issue is execution in key moments. The Chiefs are currently ranked a disappointing 26th in the NFL, allowing opponents to convert on 43% of their third down attempts. And when defensive coordinator Steve Spagnel tries to fix this issue with pressure, the numbers get even worse. This season, when Spags opts to blitz, the Chiefs rank 31st in most yards allowed per play and 31st in sack per pass play. The Texans are now going to target this exact combination of a struggling slot corner and a failing blitz package on third down. That is the statistical weakness that could decide this game. We also have to quickly mention the major adjustments coming to the offensive line. Both starting right tackle Jawan Taylor and right guard Trey Smith are officially listed as doubtful and probably will not play. This means the Chiefs are relying on the next manup philosophy in the trenches with Mike Caliendo stepping in at guard and Wany Morris on the left side with Jaylen Moore on the right side. It’s a huge yet necessary adjustment to protect Patrick Mahomes. I guess the Chiefs head into week 14 facing a test of total team depth from a significantly adjusted offensive line to plugging a glaring hole in the secondary that affects their ability to execute on third down. Will the depth prevail? Drop your predictions in the comments below and let us know. And now it’s time for our Zarda Bbecue hot picks of the week. We’ve teamed up with DraftKings Sportsbook to let you know that Missouri is getting an early gift from Santa this year. You can now bet on your favorite teams and players right here at home. Some say it’s maybe the eugest of all time. I don’t know. But the Chiefs have to defend themselves and defend Arrowhead and win this freaking game. Time to go on a five-game winning streak and punch our ticket to the playoffs. And it all starts with the Texans on Sunday. It really just depends. Can Andy Reid be disciplined and run the football? Because that’s the name of the game. Their best defensive tackle, Tim Settles Jr. had season ending surgery on his foot. And that means the Chiefs have an opportunity to run the ball up the gut, line up under center and pound Kareem Hunt and Isaiah Pacheco as much as possible. We have to stifle that hellacious pass rush coming from the outside of Denil Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. And that’s going to be a tough thing to do this weekend considering that we have some backups in there on the offensive line. And whether Andy decides to go with one on the left side or right side or where he’s putting Jaylen Moore, who knows? All I know is this team has to play dirty. They have to play gritty and they have to make sure they win this football game. It’s going to be a tough one. It’s going to be scrappy and it’s going to be close. But I think with all the chips stacked in the middle of the table, no one’s better than Patrick Mahomes. He’s going to come out here. He’s going to play tough. He’s going to be in that do or die playoff mode. And I can’t wait to see it. Hopefully he can find some big time help from guys like Travis Kelce and Rasheed Rice and the Chiefs can win this one. I’m going to say 2317 Chiefs with some help from Harrison Buter. Steve Spagnolo has to find a way to put some pressure on CJ Strad and make him a little bit uncomfortable. Because if our offense is finding a way to effectively move the football and put points on the board against the number one defense in football, then our defense really has to step up and keep their end of the bargain. I’m expecting a big game from the leaders of the defense. Talking about Nick Bolt and Chris Jones also want to see a big day from George Caroftus and Leo Chanel. So this Sunday night is the ultimate gut check for the Chiefs. Historically, we have dominated this rivalry, going five-0 in their last five matchups versus the Texans, including two divisional round victories, but this is a new Houston team with a punishing defensive plan. So, that means this is going to be messy. It’s going to be a hard-fought clash of contrasting styles that test Kansas City’s statistical weaknesses, which we talked about. The Chief’s biggest challenge is defined by the trenches with backup tackle stepping in for the injured Taylor and Smith. The pressure is almost guaranteed at this point. Houston knows this. Edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. leads the NFL with 36 third down pressures, proving their ability to close out drives is high. The Texans game plan will be pretty clear. While they generally run zone, they’ve cranked up the man coverage lately to around 36%. This is a direct attack on Patrick Mahomes splits. Mahomes is hyperefficient against zone at 8.6 yards per attempt, but his numbers drop significantly against man coverage, 5.2 yards per attempt. Facing constant pressure combined with heavy man coverage will hopefully force the ball out quickly unless Reed gets a little too cute with his play calling. I think this leads to a modest final line for Mahomes of about 220 yards passing. Though he still will manage to deliver two touchdowns on the day via pure improvisation. The Chief’s defense, meanwhile, must execute its game plan flawlessly, starting with neutralizing receiver Nico Collins. The Texans are 4-0 when Collins averages at least 18 yards per catch. So limiting his production is essential. However, the major concern is the Chief’s inability to execute on third and long. The Chief’s defense is statistically disastrous when the opponent needs seven or more yards. They rank 30th in yards per play allowed and 31st in passer rating allowed in that exact third and seven yards plus situation. If the Texans get to third and long, they are still statistically favored to convert that. And that is where the game turns. Despite these clear statistical flaws on both sides of the football, the Chiefs experience in high leverage football should hopefully prevail here. This game will be an absolute grind that relies on field position and clutch moments in the fourth quarter. It’s going to take the full 60 minutes here, but Harrison Bucker will deliver the final blow on a late game field go. The final score, I’ll say Chiefs 26, Texans 23. I also think Arrowhead Stadium and the noise y’all provide will be super essential. The time is yours, Chiefs Kingdom. Get down in the comments. Let us know how you’re feeling about this matchup. Also, drop your score predictions. We love checking them out. Look, if it’s Chiefs football season, the only thing we want is a season filled with touchdowns from number 15 and some good barbecue. So, we understand that you’re like us. That’s what you want, too. And so, we’re here to support a local Kansas City staple in the barbecue capital of the world, which is Kansas City, baby. Zarda Barbecue. We absolutely love Zarda. They’ve been nothing but generous to us and generous to you, the all chief up crew. We keep their sauces on hand 365 days a year. I put this stuff on everything. And we here at ACU proudly support their mission in the community and their mouthwatering food. Right now, our boy Heli from the University of Louisville, Ashton Gelotti, is teaming up with Zarda to bring you his very own signature sandwich called the Takeaway. It is absolutely a barbecue sandwich lover’s dream. This one-of-a-kind taste sensation starts with a generous portion of Zarda’s award-winning limited reserve burn-ins, melted pepper jack cheese, juicy pulled pork, thin sliced ham, and Ashton’s favorite Zarda barbecue sauce. All piled high on a toasted Roma bun. But it’s not finished there. This sandwich has a surprise waiting for you. They’re adding Creole seasoning to kick it up a notch. And we’re getting hungry just talking about it. And speaking of community, Zarta is donating a portion of the proceeds from every Ashton Gelotti inspired sandwich sold to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City. So what a great cause and a good way to show your support for Ashton, Zarda, ACU, and your community. So don’t worry about cooking and cleaning tonight. Make it a Zarda kind tonight and go grab some barbecue from either of their two locations. The KC Takeaway is also available at all area H High-Ve Market Grill locations throughout the Chief season from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. And you will not regret it. Zarda is legendary. Key injuries, makeshift offensive line….What do you guys think? Drop your Chiefs vs Texans score predictions below!!
22-10 chiefs
The chiefs will make the playoffs. The donkeys even if they win the west will be 1 and done .
Excellent content gentlemen. Thanks for your work. I’m being optimistic and hopeful for this game. I hope the boys are up to the challenge! 🍻
Chiefs 19 Texans 9
A lot of CHIEFS fans sound like donkey fans when they had horsetooth as their QB. Every win was a sure superbowl; every loss was fire every coach and bench elway. Come on KINGDOM, we're better than that. In the last decade they've given us plenty of reason to believe. Our CHIEFS can do this. GO CHIEFS!!!
Creators like these guys annoy me. As a creator myself who tries to be unbiased when picking games, it annoys me when fans of a team never pick against their own team. Literally this video.
Hey guys everything the Texans are great at this year is everything our team struggles with. That and we have 3 lineman out vs the best defense in the league. Also our own defense has been bad on 3rd and long, bad at getting to QB with the blitz, bad in the slot. But hey guys im still picking us to win despite everything I just said for no reason. Like what? 😂😂😂 Come on try not being biased
KC 31 – 24. We need it no matter how it happens.
I think we’ve been so bad , it doesn’t matter ! Team talent level is crap !
Mahomes can't win by himself. He needs protection from the OL and it looks like the coaches are making the wrong assignments.
24 chiefs 20 Texans
24 chiefs 20 Texans Go CHIEFS
Yall my dawgz LFG acu best chief channel frfr 🔥👊🏾
35-17 chief
The coaching staff has to pull their heads out their a** and play the rookie corner Nohl williams and safety Jordan Hicks
How's that "next man up" working out?
Let’s hope the refs don’t be calling phantom calls for the chiefs and calls holding on the chiefs Oline finally
This is their choice. CRW name was never talked about 3 weeks ago. We have the best slot corner in the league who’s never in the slot. The coaches and the organization shot this team in the face this year
If Wanya Morris is playing we’re cooked. Pat gonna have one second to get rid of the ball. Our run game has to be ferocious! Keep Chamari outta the slot! Roman Wallace has to play every snap! Even then our chances aren’t great. Pat has to hit every pass! No more overthrows or passes to the feet. Pats gotta use his legs in this one. Just get the first down!
Why is it that every year the chiefs oline get butchered? It’s wild to me. Is it the training staff it keeping them in shape? No way it’s just bad luck cause it happens every single year
Let’s get it baby! Do or die time! Even though this year has kinda sucked I have all the trust and all the love for those Kansas City Chiefs baby!
Am not worried about cause mahomes and andy give us 3 Lombardis in less than 10 years am proud of my chiefs 👏 and optimistic cause they gonna play i only can wicht the best if I worried am not gonna win anything
This might be the SB nightmare all over again for KC. Mahomes will try those quick passes, and HOU will just sit on them because they can create pressure rushing just their front 4.
Too many injuries to succeed
The Chiefs are Dead ! 😅😅😅😅
Great video!
Short and sweet and to the point! Love this channel!
Chiefs 22-17
LFG!
Chiefs win 27-20
