NHL Highlights | Wild vs. Canucks – December 5, 2025

that that’s not going to help anybody. But man, are they thin now without Person in the lineup. It’ll be a challenge against a hot wild team. When it rains at Forest and we’re familiar with that now the puck came. I don’t think he was expecting it to get past the stick of Matt Baldi. Zucarella was serving the penalties out of the box and he’s in on a two-on-one. Matt Zucarella centers. Baldi scores. 11th goal in 15 games for Matt Baldi. And as soon as the Wild were back to full strength, they strike to open the scoring. Almost everything turned around for the Wild when Matt Zuckerello came back in their lineup November the 7th. Zakarelloo holds the puck after Trenan got the turnover in the middle of the ice. Look at Zukarelloo head up the entire way and Matt Baldy who can really shoot the puck. This is a young star in the making for the Wild as he takes the one-time from and he’s going to make it two to one and had little bit of push at that time. Here’s a breakaway. Capri off stopped by Toapilo. Stops the first one. Look at Zukarelloo and Capri off. These two fit hand and glove. Just an amazing read by Zukarelloo to know where Capri off was toilo with the block with the breakaway stop. This is the blocker up on. Yes, there is Erikson. Nice pass. Cutting in is Tren and he shoots right pad. Save by Tapila. He stopped Trenan twice on good chances in this period and throw in the Capri off save as well. It’s been a busy week for Nikita Toapilo. Earlier became a first time father then went down played a game. Now he’s back up at the big club and starting at home and he’s going to face another chance and a right pad save on Johansson. He was 13th in the NHL. Here’s a centering pass all alone. Broaddin and doing the same and he recovered to stop the puck from getting past him. Feisty start to this game around the front of both nets that as Broaddin couldn’t or Broaddin shot catches Tolapo high up on the right shoulder. He makes the stop and nice job. 23 years old uh their first round pick in 2021 and mentioned earlier had a really up and down year in the American League last year. In some discomfort, here’s Begoian. Slap shot off a Kuck stick. Didn’t wind its way into the goal. Canucks break out of Ander Kane inside the line. Sherwood centers off a skate in round two. Second of the year. Did go off the left skate for sure. It’s a league looks at every goal. And I don’t think that’s a kicking motion. I think it’s a stopping motion. Well, well, you got to stop eventually. Right. Exactly. Now they’re trying to figure out who’s going to make the announcement. After review, it’s determined that the puck was kicked into the net. We have no goal. Everybody thinks you can find when you hear about a Capri off, you go, “Well, why hasn’t our team done that?” Williams broken his stick here and the Conucks try to take advantage. Here’s a chance. Felander shoots it, scores. Lenus Carlson grabs the puck. It’s the first career goal for Tom Vander. And the Conucks have pulled even at one. Some ability here. The Brusk wins this puck up the board. You see without a stick, so he’s almost defenseless. Carlson, who made a couple of these plays last night, head up and looks across the ice. He’s got his head up the entire way. He scans the ice and he finds Vander and Vander is going to go behind the screen of Nico Stern. Ballstead does not see this. A first NHL goal. Congratulations to Tom Vander. And it’s 1-1 after about a monthlong stretch where he’s been really happy with his wild team as they weren’t very good in Calgary, but they’ve had a tremendous November. They score. It’s the other young defenseman. Elias Patterson from long range and it’s two-1 Vancouver. The Canucks have really dominated the faceoff circle. That’s a second effort win by Ratu. His goal was disallowed earlier, but he wins the draw in the second effort. They go DD. Valander to Person. Three young guys connect here again. And Person’s long shot sifts under the glove. Baldi in on the left wing. Matt Baldi forced behind the net by Hugh. Still got a wraparound try and able to hold his ground and cover the puck. Scored the first goal of the game on the one-time. Look at him shove off by broke his stick. Had plenty of plenty of time to go get one as that scrum lasted forever. Twoon one Vancouver. Roger with Sherwood. Out to Rou shoots. He scores. He didn’t kick that one. Built his work on the faceoff circle. Strong work by Evander Kane to win the puck battle. You mentioned Eurovv doesn’t have a stick. It’s the second goal the Wild have had four guys on the ice with a stick. Ratu holds this. Middleton gave him plenty of room as he was taking the pass away and then he wanted to attack late, but Ratu can really shoot the wrist shot. Here’s Johansson bringing the puck in. Sifts his way in over the blue line. Now throws the puck back to Jared Spurgeon. Rashan off the crossbar. I think Erikson tipped it. as I mentioned earlier is such a important player for the Wild. He gets the deflection on the Spurgeon shot and it goes up over the right shoulder of Tolo. Fortunately for the and Hughes chips the puck to the end boards now. Capri on to the middle turned over. Cissone stopped by Ball pops up into the air and Carlson is just I think of the things he’s shown as a really active stick. He’s got a good head to the game. 20 minutes to go. Canucks up by a couple and the Wild to start period number three with Johansson bringing the puck in on the right wing. Sends the puck to Middleton. He’ll bank in center. Capri Zav leaves for Yurov who’s to the crease. Oh, and Spurgeon had a great chance there moving in much like at the beginning of the second period. This is Baldi going around the back of the net or rather Yurov going around the back of the net. Spurgeon tips that up wide and high. Eurovv’s just back in the lineup. They really like him. He’s they were wondering what he was going to be able and Jake the Brush starts back. wants to start a change here and he’ll dump the puck in deep. Ballstead out of his net. Doesn’t go around. There he scores. This crazy week continues for Atu Ratu. The Wild go back and they tap Yes. Volstead. Whoops. When the goalender hangs on to the puck, he’s looking for a place to play it. But now he’s bobbled it once. He’s got Bam standing two feet to his right, but he can’t get it to him. And Atu Ratu’s got it second. I don’t think he’s going to find an easier one. And Zukarelloo collects it center. Poke check by Connor Garland. And here comes Sherwood up the gut. Kefir Sherwood gigs. There’ll be a penalty here at least. Let’s see. Breakaway Sherwood’s had in about five games here. This is a great play by Garland and Sherwood who had just come off the bench and taken away. Hughes gets the puck and feeds it back to his own blue line to Marcus Patterson. We’re into the second half of the third period. Canucks up four to one. Hughes it round the net out the side. Centers for Besser. Couldn’t get a shot away. Still was able to slide it towards Vladimir Terasenko in with a drop pass. Marcus Johansson takes the puck wide. Now cuts away with the shot. Nikita Toapilo has it. More traffic, more commotion around the Vancouver Gold Crease. Nikita Toapilo just continues to maintain his calm. He’s really had a a nice way. Now he and Garland battle for the puck. Connor Garland gets it. He’s checked, but Meyers takes it behind the net. Puts it off the glass. Kept into the blue line by Zukarelloo. Favor long shot. Hit a body in front. Garland gets the rebound. Couldn’t settle it. Here’s Capri off. Zukarelloo turning sets up shop in the faceoff circle. Shoots. scores over the shoulder of Nikita Tolapilo and with 238 to go the Wild with a goal six on four pull within two. The Wild are able to retrieve the puck a couple of times. Look at Erikson perfectly positioned standing right on top of the crease and Tolapo can’t see it. He actually gets Tolapo does flat into the net instead of attacking where the shot is coming from. He ends up getting smaller. And now they play keep away. 5 seconds left and the Conucks a much needed win. Second in nine games.

Aatu Raty scored a pair of goals and recorded an assist to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wild.

  1. I have to watch the highlights as the opposition scores when I am watching the game and the Canucks will only score when I leave the room. I am the jinx. Great game Raty

  2. The first goal of Vancour went in from skate, but it had no kicking motion. He directed it in but did not kick it. They were blind in Chicago .

  3. The skating wounded managed to win one with another messed up lineup of too many AHL guys. Love the promise for the future we have in these guys, but we need a stable lineup that's not a game of musical injuries.

  6. Thank you Sportsnet 🙂.I,m from Sweden and been a Canucksfan for a long time. But this homegame I was forced to watch from my cablecompany via Fanduel SportsNet and it sounded like the Canucks were playing away. Awful commentaters and only Wild,s line-up on the ice running all the time. Thanks but no thanks. There is no better out there than Mr. Shorthouse and good old Ferraro. And of course – Vancouver Canucks. Today. And always. Cheers from Sweden.

  7. So hard to tell with this team what we're seeing.
Is this what they call a "dead cat bounce" ? Or is it the case they have to have something external (like injuries to some key players) wake the other guys up?

  8. A much needed win against a top quality team that are currently playing very well.
Great to see Atu Raty score 2 goals (I remember he was one of the players that was acquired in the trade for Bo Horvat).
And I think Nikita Tolopilo played really well in the net for the Canucks.
