Vikings Roster Moves: Wolford to the 53, McGlothern/Taimani Elevated

[Music] What’s going on to Romes? Minnesota defined Vikings made a couple of rooster moves ahead of the showdown against the Washington Commanders. The commies uh tomorrow historic US Bank Stadium. Uh notably the Vikings have signed jumping John Wolfford uh practice squad quarterback from the practice squad to the active rooster. Uh Dwight New Mclaw, quarterback, as well as defensive lineman Taki Tymani, also elevated to the uh active roster uh from the practice squad for tomorrow. Ty Chandler has been downgraded out. Now, Ty Chandler is in the midst of his 21-day return to practice window and even though he was full on full participant Thursday, Friday, uh going to give it another week to elevate him from injured reserve. Now, for Wolford, so Wolford had some crossover with Kevin McConnell and Wes Phillips during time with the Rams. Uh Wolford’s started a spate of games over his career, including one playoff game. And overall, it’s like, is he like a an impressive veteran? Probably not. Is he more of a warm body to fill fill up the rooster? Sure. Uh but also it’s going to be interesting because they elevated him from the practice squad to the 53 so that they can have him as the emergency third or not rather have him have a emergency third quarterback because they changed the rules where the emergency third quarterback does not count against a game day 4748 but he has to be on the 53. You can’t just elevate someone from the practice squad. Um, now confusingly enough, you can elevate a quarterback from the practice squad to be your quarterback, too, but you can’t have two other quarterbacks in the eh. Yeah. Uh, but the question is going to be who’s going to be the backup? You know, JJ McCarthy is obviously going to start on Sunday. But Bro Show or John Wolfford? I I think that it would be Bromer as quarterback, too. They trust him being a snap away all season long. Uh, the Seattle game notwithstanding. Uh, but interesting to see what happens there. Uh then you have oh with John Wolfford too. So I’m not the only one who sees this right Barry Kwan Masters of the Air Pey Blinders. He’s the Joker. No. All right. Maybe not. Anyways, uh Taki Tammani nose tackle undrafted free agent last year from Oregon/W Washington. Made the Vikings uh rooster played in seven games last year. Had three tackles. This is going to be his first action of the season. Uh it does make sense with Levi Draco Rodriguez uh out with a neck injury. So he’ll be added to the mix. Also Vikings could potentially look to play a little bit heavier against the Washington offensive line as well as their solid run game with Bill as well as Rodriguez. So that makes sense there. Dwight New Mcloth. I love Nudy man. Nud nud is fantastic. You was on the Vikings 53 UDFA last season. Uh was on the 53 last year. Uh started out this season on the 53. Got reduced to the practice squad. Uh now being elevated. This will be his ninth game uh in participation. Has had a couple of defensive snaps here or there as well as he played a lot of special teams as well. So that that’s absolutely good to see. But overall also it is noteworthy that Fabian Maro has been the third corner uh even over Dwight Nathan during this time with Rogers at Murf as one two. But we’ll see. Anyways, that’s it. That’s it. Vikings made a couple rooster moves ahead of the game against the commies tomorrow. Thanks for the update Andy! 👍I may have mentioned it before, but I distiinctly recall when QB John Wolford played in a playoff game for the Rams, and how he performed really well in a playoff game, in place of Jared Goff…that is, until he took a really nasty cheap shot from Jamal Adams, which knocked Wolford out of the game. 😠It was a hit that was not unlike what we've seen a few times from Dirty Kirby Joseph, i.e. there was an obvious intent to injure. It was an infraction should have resulted in Ramsey being turfed from the game & suspended for a few games!😠 Anyway..I recall being impressed with Wolford back then…he seemed to have the smarts & athleticism, but I guess he may or may not have that now…not sure….

  5. I'd honestly trust Wolford to back up JJ over Brosmer, not because I dislike Brosmer, but because Wolford has been in the league a few years and has worked (briefly) with KOC before. It's not saying much, but that's where I'm at.
