How do you assess what you said? Uh, good first period. Um, you know, I thought we came out with the right mindset, did some good things. Second period turned pucks over. That’s basically what it boiled down to. Got put ourselves in three/arter ice. Basically, Montreal owned that period because of turnovers in my opinion. Third period, pretty good period. Um, overall missed the net like 15 times tonight at least. I think that’s a number. Good opportunities, too. We got to hit the net on those opportunities and the PP’s got to come through for us and it didn’t, but I thought our goalending was good and um you know, we got a point out of it. How does the uh power play goend would have made a difference obviously? How how does that click into something tangible to play? Well, that’s a good question. And they’re not, you know, right now what I see when I watch it is, you know, they’re unsure of themselves that, you know, a little bit. And we’re not there that in particular the power play in the second period, you know, moved it well. We don’t take a shot. We don’t, you know what I mean? The shots are there. We’re not taking them. Then when, you know, we do take a shot, it’s probably the wrong time. It’s just kind of it’s they’re not feeling too good about themselves out there. U obviously they’re not seeing it right now, you know. So, um got to work through it. That, you know, that’s all you can do. We got to work through it and um try to create some chemistry here. Bit of a surprising given. It is. It is. Um, you know, I thought actually cowing on the power play made some good plays and did some good things on it and, you know, he he was pretty good tonight again. Second period when you mentioned three quarter ice. Are you encouraged by the fact that when you’ve seen that before it went south, but this time? Yeah. Know, we responded in the third and played a much better period. Uh, played behind them more, got, you know, got to our game. You know, we had some opportunities there with um some plays and situations, but you know, we can’t go and miss a net on grade A opportunities. We It was just shot ourselves in the foot there in that. You make of how Dennis performed today. Good. Yeah, he was really good, I thought. Solid. You know, he did did the job for us. Um you know, made some real good saves and um so I was happy. Good to see that with him. First shootout of the season. There weren’t many last year. Like how do you kind of game plan for that? Do you always have something ready for that situation or for the goalie? No. For the for who you select and Yeah, we always look at you know our lineup and who who’s you know we haven’t been in a lot of shootouts. Even going back to last year we won overtime a lot. So we didn’t get a lot of shootouts, right? So, but I mean we got numbers and all that stuff you got to look into a little bit and but uh you know at that point it’s just shootouts are a crapshoot a lot of times you know.

  1. For the love of god, figure out the damn pp. It's costing you guys' points. Put Knies back on pp1 and have him and JT parked in front. Have 34 and 88 on the flanks, OEL up top, and get pucks to the net.

  3. I would say that loosing like that is kind of disappointing.
    It inspires me to be the one,that includes the things that we create.
    In life it has to be right now.
    We can call this the futuristic new life.

  7. The goaltending isn’t the issue. The second period was a complete disaster, and I honestly can’t understand how a team can look so sharp in the first and then come out in the second like they don’t even want to play. I’m really trying to get behind Morgan Rielly, but he keeps missing the net so often it’s becoming laughable. This team is incredibly frustrating to watch at times.

  10. Some day, someone on the Leafs will show some actual passion about the game. And they’ll get a D guy who can actually hit the net from the blue line with some power.

  13. Hey Craig. Get the boys some target practice. They can't seem to hit the net. Especially Rielly. These guys are trying to hit corners when they should focus on hitting the damn net, ffs.

  15. Leafs have points in last 4 games. The D-zone coverage is getting better guys are listening to the coaches. Move Scotty up to the 1st line and pp he has 3 goals in 3 games. Dennis shut the door when he's standing tall in the shootout he was crunched over giving away the top corners of the net. Rielly has to practice his shooting on 3 on 1 in o.t he has to hit the net. He missed the net many times and his passing is not close too many giveaways.

  16. Leafs have points in the last 4 games. Scotty has 3 goals in 3 games move him up to the first line and PP. The D-zone coverage is getting better. Rielly has to stay after practice and hit the net.

  17. Hey Berube. With Woll and Stolarz out. Hildeby stepped up big time. You got the goaltending and did nothing in front of him. This team is going nowhere. You get out shot almost every single game. Matthews is trash.

  21. The extra point matters. Also by the way. He says 15 times missed shots. Morgan Riley misses the net more than any NHL player in all NHL history and there isn't a close 2nd. Wake up guys your NHL players Domi is horribic for missing the net too. The list goes on!

  22. I don't care what anyone says Berube is the wrong coach to get the most out of this team. He is a scrapper by trade and not the philosophical mastermind or tactical genius portrayed by the bias Leaf's sports media. Its like Matthews and Nylander have semi quit on him. I'm sure when the children have made their video cameo and exchanged the wresting belt there is a lot of yelling in the dressing room after a loss.

  25. Any team has Domi on the top line and power play is in serious trouble. If that is the best you can come up with to play with Mathews, the team is doomed.

  28. Power play is terrible. Savard is NOT the person for the job- he is responsible for the poor execution and he has not helped the PP, only makes it worst. Lots of very talented assistant coaches who can really help the power play and utilize the talent on the team. Can't continue with Savard…get rid of him now.

  31. Leafs 100% out played in the game . Especially in the 2nd. The score could of been a lot worse if not for the goalie's good play.

    Once again too many giveaways and 30+ shots on goal.

  32. A disappointing result and lots of areas to improve but the one biggest takeaway from this game was that the 3rd string goalie appears to be very good.

  33. Chief Craig Strongbow (thanks Bill), hasn’t got a clue what to do with this group of broken toys. Add to that,they’re lead on the ice by a Captain who’s nothing but an under performing, self absorbed, pant load. Bérubé has lost the room. Go leafs go. 😅 cheers 😎
