Well, that was an infuriating game. At least Yang picked it up once he got a little bit of confidence. This was a huge game for his early development.
I usually find it corny to complain about officating after a loss, but the no call on Hansen getting smacked in the face and subsequent tech on Splitter after the Grizzlies were aloud to inbound the ball was egregiously fucking awful.
Deni only got 3 freethrows the whole game and we shot 18 to their 39. Fuck that.
It was nice seeing Yang have a way better second half after he started the game horribly. It was a “throw him into the fire” type situation, and he showed some growth.
“Life sucks then you die”
really wish there was some mechanism for league-wide ref accountability that had actual meaning or consequence. they can completely shit the bed over and over and over and just move on.
Deni was kinda disappointing tbh, I don’t blame him for the loss obviously and I know his stats were decent, but he also had a lot of dumb turnovers
I really try to not blame reffing but holy shit that was bad.
I have no idea how you even play the game when there is zero consistency.
At least the Pistons game sucked both ways. If refs are this incompetent without gambling being involved, Adam Silver needs his head on a pike for letting the league get to this point. It’s sad
Memphis sub with some original takes on Deni and the a certain country and the number 3000 incoming
I have come to expect bias officiating in the NBA, but this was flat out incompetence.
Short handed , playin away from home AND refs apparently have it out for us.
Hansen can play. Be patient, guys
To the sickos who stayed til the end, we’ll have better days ahead. RCTID.
Positive take aways from the game
-Tou and Sharpe 3 went in and seem both are somewhat on an upward swing
-Yang might have the biggest delta for 1st half performance to 2nd this season. Looked like a D2 walk on and looked like an okay rotational center 2nd half
-we hopefully never have to deal with that fucking shit show of a ref crew again
-we don’t have to root for Ja or act like JJJ is good
Tonight’s Ref crew: Mr. Magoo, Tim Donaghy, and Angel Hernandez.
We didn’t lose because of the refs, but holy shit they made this game unwatchable.
It’s funny that when Edey smacked the shit out of Hansen he put his arm up to admit he fouled him yet the refs kept on going.
Honestly probably the worst referees I seen this year and that comes after that Detroit game.
well that was just rough. didn’t really deserve to win the game but witnessing that officiating just sucks
I think there were like 3 plays that sealed our fate. No call on Yang, no call on Deni and another no call where someone got mugged (am feverish and brain no work).
Excited to see Yang’s potential, especially after tonight.
Before the game, I thought Zach Edey would completely dominate Hansen, but it actually wasn’t that bad. Hansen adjusted pretty well in the second half. But seriously, what was up with the refs? That missed 6th foul on Edey could’ve been a turning point.
Nice little mini comeback on the 3rd gave me hope, but couldn’t do much with these pos refs to be honest. That being said, the team should definitely be playing better than that, the first half was atrocious. Yang was the silver lining, hope this game gives him some confidence.
Hey guys just lets you know when Yao Ming had his first career starts he did worse than Yang, Yang did show why he belongs to this league in the second half, hope he gets consistent minutes
great second half from Yang Hansen who really stepped up and was done so dirty by the refs by being left to rot on the other end of the court after taking a bicep to the face
As a Deni fan I don’t like his Harden turn, it truly seems sometimes like he looks for a foul first and shooting second. I thought a lot of the whistles he didn’t get were clean defence. I don’t think it’s good for him as a player to rely on FT to be efficient. It was a bad game by him with bad vibes on top of that.
Refs were bad but we were down almost 30 point in the first half, and it was just hard to climb from there. We didn’t have our 2 starting centers and our 3 starting point guards, and it looked like that.
Memphis G-leaguers are better than our G-leaguers.
Also: Shae with 6 TO -31 on 27 mins (but at least 3/3 from 3!)
The refs were horrible. That didn’t help.
Real reasons for loss:
-Lost the possession battle
-Lost the turnover battle
-Shot 40% from the floor
Yang could have been down there with a concussion and they just let the grizzlies keep scoring. Completely fucked up
Most surprising stat of the game for me was yang going positive on +-! He was getting cooked the first half so for him to find a way to have an impact was pretty cool. That sequence where he got whacked and play didn’t stop was so unbelievably lame. Reffing has gotten worse year after year and I don’t understand why
Was at game.
Yang looked incredibly upset with himself on bench in first half. First one out putting up shots at half time and looked focused. Then proceeded to lock in second half. Great to see he can reign it in when he actually gets play time and freedom to make mistakes to learn from.
The refs got way too emotional about getting called out for their no calls. To the point where they became the agitators and the last tech felt personal rather than actually warranted.
Hansen adjusted quickly and he seems more comfortable with NBA pace now. You know he was not nervous when he was trolling around 😆
A tough loss, but our roster is so off-balance because of injuries, so it makes sense why we were outclassed.
Solid performance by the Grizzlies.
Big men Yang was the highlight for me, he seems more comfortable out there, smiling and shit. Other then that bad game, bad refs, whatever. On to the Next One.
What a fucking game refs. I usually try refraining from complaining ab the refs but this was just ridiculous today.
Yang one of those guys that plays better the more hes involved. I remember Nurk being like that as well. Next game he plays they should focus on getting him the ball as soon as he steps on the court.
