LIVE: Yankees GM Brian Cashman speaks at MLB winter meetings
Yo, what’s going on everybody? Welcome back to another Yankees Avenue offseason live stream. It is Sunday night, December 7th, 2025. The winter meetings are just about underway. Although, tomorrow I think is like the official first day. Everybody, you know, gets into town, hops off the flight. Scott Boris isn’t even there yet. Which one of the clips I cut up with Brian Cashman, which we’re going to hear from Brian Cashman tonight, chat, that is why we are live. Let me take a deep breath, chat. Let me take a deep breath because yo, I’m actually a little bit hyped. I’m very hyped. Now, it doesn’t mean amazing things are coming. Doesn’t mean good things are coming. But I found what Brian Cashman said tonight very interesting chat. Anyways, what I was going to say before is I had to cut up Brian Cash’s clip a little bit because he was telling us how he hasn’t met with Scott Boris today because he’s on his way. Scott Boris is from Mexico because he was at Zack Gallon’s wedding. Nobody cares. Just kidding. Um anyway, so today’s the day where, you know, kind of everybody gets into town and then uh [ __ ] gets going tomorrow. But obviously, yo, if you’re new with the the winter meetings, while on one hand, we’ve shown this graphic before, the Yankees have a history, their last four winter meetings. Obviously, there was not one in 2020, 2021. They’ve made at at least one big move. Colon 19 judge in 2022, Juan Stoodto offseason of 2023. that was trade obviously Max Freed last year in 2024 [ __ ] does go down but it’s not a guarantee that you know we’re signing Cody Cody Bellinger tomorrow or we’re if we’re going to sign Tatsuya Amai that it’s going to happen over the next few days it could but we’re going to we’re going to discuss that stuff tomorrow we’ll be live Monday night anytime news breaks we’re going to be live but the tonight the story is Brian Cashman who did a few rounds of interviews tonight. One on LB Network, one on uh Yes, had their hot show tonight. Uh hot stove show tonight, and I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first hot stove show chat. And again, I don’t want to like get anybody’s juices flowing, but at the very least, we have some like food for thought with what Brian Cash said tonight. And there’s one quote in particular, which I’ve already posted the Yank Sab, but I really want to dive into it. We’ll get to it in just a moment, but uh I’m going to pull up this screen right here. Um you know, we always do our latest news and kind of keep this graphic up throughout the entirety of the stream. Well, it’s just going to be the key quotes, uh key notes and quotes from Brian Kman tonight. And here’s the thing. Um and we’ll do a little chat at the very end, but now we’re going to officially get into it here. He gave us a lot tonight, I thought, Chad, and I think he was in a good mood. I don’t know if he, you know, took a nap on the flight, cup of coffee as soon as he got into Orlando, which is where they’re doing it this year. But I actually thought Brian Cashman came off as relatively likable. He was in a good mood. Seemed like he got his sleep last night compared to, and you can’t blame him to a degree for this, but like the postseason press conference like god, he was insufferable. Just seemed like he didn’t want to be there. Was talking to us like, you know, he’s smarter than us and just had a whole vibe about him that was just furthered the narrative. If you didn’t like Brian Castron, furthered why you don’t, among other reasons. Um, and I defend Brian Cast those that are new around here, but I don’t got to lay all that out around here. I actually the 2025 roster I think was the best roster he created in the judge era. So, I will be fair. I’ve also tweaked on him many times, but for tonight, he’s given me a little bit of reason to be optimistic. We’ll go through some of like the obvious stuff. Cody Bellinger. We know they’re still in play form. Um I’m going to play this sound bite really quick just so you guys can hear it. We won’t spend too much time on Bellinger because one, I’m kind of just tired of it. Like we’ll figure it out. Like are we going to sign him or not? Uh I do hope he’s back assuming that we’re not in play for Kyle Tucker, which although he’s a better player. Just reading the tea leaves, I don’t think we’ll be getting Kyle Tucker this offseason. I would love him, but it sounds like it’s going to be belly or bust, which yo, in that regard, I want Belly back. Um so let me play this soundbite really quick. We’ll spend a minute on him and then we’ll get into uh the other stuff I thought was really interesting that Cashman said. But for now, here is Cashman on Ballinger. He’s still in play. I talked to Scott Poris yesterday. Uh Scott was in Mexico for a wedding, but we’re going to continue to have dialogue. He’s got a number of players in the marketplace. Um he’s got a very deep roster. Cody Bellinger also was one of them. So, you know, again, uh my job is to stay fluid, make sure I have all the intel that’s coming in as much as I can, share it with ownership, and uh and at some point something might materialize. Yeah. And speaking of ownership, by the way, he did touch briefly on what’s been a very common talk talking point and rightfully so with the quotes had about the possibility of staying under a $300 million payroll. Brian Cashman continues to reiterate he has not been given any set orders to stay below $300 million. And we talked about it last week, but the hot sto show the first one I was bugging out a little bit. Michael K, a lot of people were going crazy over what he said with don’t be surprised stay under a $300 million payroll. I’m not saying they’re wrong. In fact, I think that is what the Yankees are telling them for a reason. Yanks are keeping things very close to the vest is the conclusion that I’ve come to in regards to everything we’re hearing. The way they’re speaking, insiders like Jack Curry have been speaking. I just don’t think they really want to tell us anything. Um, but that was nice to hear from Brian Cashman that no, Pal is not said to stay below $300 million. We’ll discuss that another time and that remains to be seen. Ultimately, all that matters is what actually happens. But with Ballinger, excuse me, I had a zero sugar, caffeine-free ginger ale before this store brand. Um, with Bellinger going to be right around 30 mil a year. John Haymon, if you believe what he says, says Yanks want him bad. Brian Casman has said they still want them. The gap would be the years and you figure the inc is probably around five maybe Bellinger wants six which if that’s the case six years at let’s just say 30 million a year it’s a six year $180 million contract for Cody Bellinger to be honest not ideal but Bellinger is good just because I want Kyle Tucker more um it’s no knock on Bellinger he was awesome last year and if it’s him or Jason Dominguez with all due respect to Jason or you know Spencer Jones I want Cody Bellinger back in the New York Yankees. So, you guys know how I feel about that. Um, I think we’ll leave it there. But, let’s discuss the first bullet point here. Um, which is also something that we we knew, but Brian Cashman multiple times, chat, he made this clear that he considers this a problem and a problem he wants to be addressed, that the lineup is too left-handed. He said too left-handed without a doubt. He said that on MLB Network. He said it on the Hot Stove show multiple times. And this is something that everybody’s talking about, but when you really get into it, like how do you solve this issue? Now, Bellinger’s kind of a, you know, caveat with him is he breaks against lefties. So, it’s you almost don’t really count him in this regard. He kind of cancels out as a lefty bat. But even so, you look at the guys if they were to try and make things work. All right, it’s the simple answer of bring back a Rosario. Okay, well Brian McMahon’s still going to be starting majority of the time. And if you’re bringing back Rosario on a platoon roll who does hit lefties, okay, he’s pinching for McMahon late and he’s going to be playing third base late. That’s just one example. But how do you make this lineup less left-handed is more so what I’m getting at here. Besides just bringing back Rosario on a one-year deal, which I’m down to do. Well, Austin Wells is your catcher. Ben Rice, I can’t think of a trade where I would be willing to include him in Jazz is an interesting case and we’re we’re going to get to this chat, but just to real quick bring up the lineup again, the one through nine, just looking at it like, yeah, you can say we got to get less left-handed. We’re too left-handed. That was Catherine. I cannot emphasize enough. He was out of about chat. He was like, we are too left-handed. And it sounds like something he is going to address. It’s not that easy. Are you trading Ryan McMahon? Are you trading Jazz? We’ll get into this more of this later because it pertains to uh the one quote that he said that really caught my attention and it’s the most interesting thing I think he said he said all night long. Um but anyways, so that’s not definitive. Brian Cashman put it out there on the record like we’re too left-handed. We need to get more righty bats. More on that later. Another thing I thought was interesting, you see, uh, point number three here, he said that the eventual health of Cole Rodon and Clark Schmidt, which Clark’s way down the line. Clark after recovering from Tommy and John, we’re talking like maybe an August return. Cole though, best case scenario is May, maybe conservatively looking at June. Um, Rodon probably beginning in May, but at some point those two guys will be back. Knock on wood. So, a common question has been like, “All right, well, if those guys are going to be back, how do you really sign on a starter when at some point your rotation is going to be filled out, you know, under complete health? It’s Cole Freed, Rodon, Heel, Cam Schlitler, Will Warren, then your sixth, which I always said, I mean, how often do things really work out? And everybody knows that all that is like Brian Cashman saying it tonight, too. Like, how often things actually work out? So that in it in its own kind of solves that issue. But yeah, what what Cashman said today was um in the case where that were to happen and he said this not talking about what the current staff is, which at full health, when I say current staff, I mean with Colon Rodon when they are back that’s already a six-man staff. He said this in regards to if everybody’s healthy and we had we have added somebody. So, say they do sign a pitcher this off seasonason or go out and trade for a pitcher this off seasonason. This kind of blends three and four. Actually, I didn’t put it on here, but what he said um also regarding this is that if everybody else is healthy, one of these guys can go to the bullpen. And he kind of referred to that as like a a super arm going to the bullpen to make the the bullpen even better. No, Garrick Cole’s not going to the bullpen. Carlos Rodon, Max Freed, if they acquire a bigname starter or something like they’re not going to the bullpen. But like Will Warren, that’s an easy possibility. Luis Heel, that’s an easy possibility to go to the bullpen. So, not that much of groundbreaking stuff in that regard. But it is nice to hear him say the specific point of the eventual health of Cole, Rodon, Clark, that’s not going to make them not go out and get a starting pitcher. but also just hearing these things said concrete today, whether it be the lineup is too left-handed. And then you move on to the rotation just in regards to the whole way Cashman was talking about it tonight with this quote and everything else. Cashman said tonight, the Yankees are looking to improve the rotation. In fact, he was like there was a way he was talking about it that really really made me like I’ll tell you like if you’re on the train of I want to go out and get Tatsuya. I really want these to go out and sign Tatsuya which you know I am if you’ve been watching I’m obsessed with Tatsuy. I think there’s a chance that took a hit tonight chat not necessarily because the way Cashman spoke on him and I have a point to bring this all home in a moment. Not because the way Cash spoke about him because Cashman’s always weird about like he gave us a lot of info tonight but about specific players. He’s always kind of like you know doesn’t give you much especially Boris clients. He really doesn’t give you much at all. But Jack Curry did say I have so much to say here so just follow me here. Jack Curry did say I’m sure many of you saw this. If he were to guess, he thinks the Yankees, if they were to try acquire like a bignameish starter, it would be through the trade market and not via signing a free agent, which that’s interesting. We’ll talk about that again in a little bit, I think. But just home what I was going to say before, if you’re a fan of Tatsuya Mind, you really want to sign him. I think we kind of like our camp and I’m in that camp like we took a hit tonight. But I’m not upset about it, chat, because in my mind it was always Yankees aren’t going to sign Tatsuya. If that’s the case, it’s because, oh, they’re cheaping out and they’ll be like, oh, we have enough starting pitching in camp, like they’re starting pitching depth, which they do have, or you know, they really like they think Will Warren could take an ascension to the next level, which maybe he could, but it’s like, yo, we’re not really operating like the Yankees there. Like, that would drive me insane. But that doesn’t seem to be the reason if they don’t go and get Tatsui, that doesn’t seem to be the reason why they won’t. It’ll be because not because they just they’re still going to upgrade the rotation is what I’m getting at here. They laid it out that the rotation does need to be improved. They just might go another avenue. Now, we’ll see who that trade candidate could be if that is indeed the route they go. Sandy Alcantara. Um, we haven’t really dove too much into the trade starting pitching market, but we can do that another time. But what I’m saying is maybe we won’t get Tatsuyama, which bums me out because yo, I want to dive back into Japan. You guys know that. And I I think Tatsuya is a freaking dog. Everything he said, the arsenal, everything all about him. I think he’s just a beast. And I’m still holding that hope, don’t get me wrong. Um, he’s still out there. We don’t know. But what we heard today from Brian Cashman is they’re it sounds they’re going to get somebody, yo. And [ __ ] man. Like maybe it’s like the new age Yankee fan in me where like my expectations have just dropped dramatically, but we’re it sounds like we’re getting somebody chat. And hell, if it is Sandy Alcantara, I know I might be saying his name wrong or whatever. Um, we won’t dive too much into this because I don’t want to get ahead of myself with this, but um, you know, he finishes the year really strong and at one point won a Sai Young or I think he won it in 2022. Um, and the Yagis just aren’t like they’re not being content. Maybe they’re not in the mood to give Tatsuya a certain amount of money. I’d like to think if they believe in Tatsuya, they would. But I’m getting ahead of myself. I’m getting myhead of myself. Getting ahead of myself. There’s a world where the Yankees don’t think Tatsuyum is all that good. Then Ward, you shouldn’t give him 150 million bucks. We’ll address that when we get there. I still hope the Yankees get him. He seems like a dog to me. But the rotation is going to be addressed. So, weren’t up there. Um, we’ll leave it at that for now. Uh, the next thing briefly on this, uh, Catherine said he’s talked to Boris about multiple players including Tatsuyama and others. So, Ballinger’s in that camp. Again, very loosely was speaking about like players specifically. Um, that’s just kind of how he rolls, especially with Boris clients. But everything else he was saying like really did give us some detail. Talked about the bullpen. And I’m going to do this next because I don’t want to get into what you have what I have listed on five likely to go external for bullpen help. Mention some names, some, you know, they have a lot of pitching prospects and just depth they can go to. Uh the Hot Show was gassing up. Uh Brent Hedrickk, which I like Brent Hedrickk. I think that’s that’s fair. And they got some arms in there that are worthwhile to get excited about next year that are staples already. Obviously Bednar, um Fernando Cruz, Tim Hills back with the club option being picked up. um Camilo Dval who really good and also finished the season for the Yanks. Um pretty damn strong. Uh might be forgetting somebody, but bullpen we know had to be addressed. That I didn’t really ever have a doubt that they would take care of it. Um I want to get to five, but again just to wrap all of that part up, Cashman put it out there. Lineup is too left-handed. We need we need to address it. The rotation, no, I’m not comfortable with it. We need to address it. That is good to hear. That is good to hear. There’s been off seasonasons in the past and problems and holes with the Yanks in the past where they like, for lack of a better word, like they just Yankee talk it y’all and [ __ ] you a little bit. Cash didn’t really [ __ ] what the issues were with this team. Now, he did say it’s a good team. And this gets me to defy, which I thought this was just fascinating, chat, because it goes into a conversation we’ve been having where I think there’s just going to be a lot of moving parts this off season. And I just see some sort of a I’m going to play the clip in a minute, but we’ve talked about the idea of whether it be a big trade, a big move, or a move coming out of nowhere, maybe a free agent signing or a trade, something that we’re not thinking of that improves a team. But that’s not the only exciting factor of it. There’s so many like strings that are attached to that said deal, whatever that may be. domino effects of that deal that could involve a key component of the the lineup right now. Here is what I thought Cashman’s most interesting quote of the night was and then we’ll discuss this further. On the position player side, you’re somewhat set in theory. Uh but the conversations could lead to I call challenge trades where all of a sudden something you know wets your appetite or you wet somebody else’s appetite with one of these kind of interesting conversations and next thing you know that area becomes you know vacant and next thing you know that’s where you swoop in and pull something else down because you rob Peter to pay Paul to improve some other aspect of the club. chat. This goes along with everything we’ve been proposing as a possibility early on. Now, I don’t want to get into like specific players here, but I will in terms of what who could possibly be going. It doesn’t mean there’s something on the table, but just hear what Cashman said there set in theory. I bring it back to what we were discussing before looking at the lineup and how to make it less left-handed outside of bring back Rosaro and Platoon with McMahon because ultimately that doesn’t really solve much. How do you do it? I already had this graphic ready to go. Where is it? But it was a graphic of all the lefties and it was I put at the time quite dramatically so but to prove it but one of these lefty bats needs to go. Ben Rice get out there now. I would never do this. So unless you’re like offer me freaking like I wouldn’t even do that in a Tatis trade honestly. Maybe I would if that was like a gun in my head. No, I don’t think I would. I don’t think I would. I don’t think I would. That’s what’s point pretend I just had Phil grapher Ben Rice. also Wells early on in the offseason because of this reason I was like ship Wells out of here make Rice the primary catcher that we could open up first base get yourself I said Miram at the time he’s left-handed so really what do I know but more so the idea of opening the lineup up so you can actually change things I’ve cooled off a little bit on that because Austin Wells’s defense is really good behind the plate and if I had to guess I don’t think Wells is going Ryan McMahon my personal reason. Now, I’m not like merit the idea of keeping him, but his defense is so good at third base. Offensively though, he is a problem. I mean, he’s been a sub 700 ops. He was for us, has been with the Rockies, same way many, many years. Strikes out not just at like a high rate like many other guys, like a ridiculously high rate 30% of the time with no offensive output to make up for it. The defense though is really good and he’s making 16 mil a year. So he’s hard to trade to begin with unless maybe you’re taking on more money, but that’s another thing. So Wells, I don’t think goes Ryan McMahon, I’m not against him going, but I don’t see him going. Ben Rice, you’d have to shoot me with a gun. Jason is his own little separate deal because that’s like you don’t trade him to get less left-handed. None of these guys you trade to get less left-handed. Like it all revolves around the return obviously. But he’s like his own separate thing. We’ve talked about before like if the Yankees were to sign Bellinger like obviously one of Spencer at the very least Spencer but one of Spencer or Jason has to go and in that case like we’re talking a big return something significant to improve the team right now. Jason Dominguez but to go back what Cashman was saying and you know where I’m headed with this chat. I don’t want to trade Jazz. Jazz is awesome. Truly and not just a stack compiler. He’s not. I don’t want to give this whole freaking same spiel which I kind of like g myself cuz it’s like trust me I recognize how good Jazz is. Jazz had many stretches for us last year where he was a dog and like in big games too. I mean talk about play versus players versus Toronto. Um that’s a nice play. Not that but like multiple times remember early in Toronto in the Roger Center we couldn’t [ __ ] get our foot out of our mouth. Jazz three-run bomb early to give us a lead. We laid a blow that lead. Whether it be that or the home run against Framber or in the playoffs Jazz had, he had a go ahead home run against Louis Varland after the judge game tire. But even just like the how dynamic he is on the on defense on the base pass in the playoffs against Boston where he scored in the Austin Wells RBI single in the eighth, the go-ahehead um from first to home or the the diving stop in that game. Uh I don’t know if it’s that game or the next game which he didn’t get the out but he stopped the run from scoring. That would have been the tying run. go ahead run whatever it was like cuz I I reckon like Jazz is awesome and part of me is like yo there should be conversations about extending Jazz but if that’s not a guarantee and there’s a deal on the table that let’s just say the Yankees were comfortable pulling off. I’ll present to you the idea of I’m going to run with just work with me here because it’s an easy on paper. The Diamondbacks might trade Catel Marte. That’s just I’m just landing out an example here. Possibility the Diamondbacks were to trade Catel Marte and the Yankees and Brian Cash interested. All right. Well, let’s just say right now we get the notification Cody Bellinger’s signed. He’s back. Let’s just say that wouldn’t be the case. Okay. Jason Dominguez is now extra expendable, which is going to take more than Jason Dominguez, but you’re now comfortable sending Jason Dominguez to Arizona. You have pitching depth. The very least, you’re comfortable sending a couple of those guys to Arizona. And this is all assuming the Yankees like Katel Marte. And it could be another star player, but he’s the easy one to come up with here. So, just work with me. And Katel Marte is better than Jazz. with what Brian Catchman said about you do this trade, you do that trade, you rob Peter, pay blah blah blah blah. It’s like all right to bring in Catel Marte, you now have a second base that while Jazz is really good, Katel Martee is better and he’s a switch hitter that hits both lefties and righties. All right. Well, now you have two second baseman. Well, now, okay, there was a situation created where yeah, you would trade Jazz. So, while I love him to death, and I’m kind of just I’m [ __ ] this is like just a situation like on paper type thing. Like, you know what I’m saying? While you love him to death, well, you I mean I I like jazz a lot. Some people probably don’t. A lot of people also really do. You don’t trade jazz for no reason, obviously. But for all we know, Brian Cashmer was on the phone with a Dbacks GM and he was asking, “Yo, if you give me Jason and give me Elmer Rodriguez and you give me Carlos Agra, I’d probably say no. You can get one of the two, but we can I’ll give you Ben Hass and Jason and you can have Spencer, too, bro. Whatever you want. Could tell Mart’s really badass.” Okay, then you have two second baseman. You trade Jazz or even I have his button on here somewhere, too. Uh, we can kill this off the Jazz video now. And I love Jazz. I’m not saying goodbye just yet. Just work with me here. Um, like what if the Yankees, we know they’re very attached to Brennan Donovan. Making sure all the stats are updated. It’s been a minute since we talked about him, but uh, and I’ve liked him for a lot. A lot of people like Bren. Now, he’s lefty and I have to see what he does against lefties, but I think he’s Let me double check really quick what Brennan Donovan does against lefties. We’re really getting ahead of ourselves now, but I don’t want to have a conversation about anything without being properly educated, chat. Otherwise, why speak at all [ __ ] 614 ops against lefties. What good are you, Brendan? Just kidding. Um, what do he do against them? And uh, okay, so he’s not that great against lefties. Maybe Donovan wouldn’t be the play, but he’s a second baseman. You point is you bring in a second baseman. You’d have to get rid of a second baseman. So that’s why it’s on the table of maybe Jazz could go. And I want to bring it back to Catel Mart. Catel Mart is a switch hitter. So like in that world like like trust me, you’d be down. As much as you may love Jazz, you’d be down if we can get Catel Marte. He switch hits. Or like if you want to get really crazy, God, I hope Ryan Cohen’s not listening. I don’t think it’s going to happen, but like say Tatis was possible. That’d be a funky trade. You have to send some money back. Like you take out all Tatis’s contract and then along with like prospects, whatever else it would take like you’ll get jazzed back in return and that’s to somewhat offset it 14 million and keeps them contending blah blah like [ __ ] like that. Like it’d be funky. Um, but what I’m saying is here, chat, and let me put the Brian Cman quote one more time because I want to hear it myself and maybe some people are just joining. But this is what I thought was the most interesting quote. Um, let me hear it one more time. On the business and player side, you’re somewhat set in theory. Uh but the conversations could lead to I call challenge trades where all of a sudden something you know wets your appetite or you wet somebody else’s appetite with one of these kind of interesting conversations and next thing you know that area becomes you know vacant and next thing you know that’s where you swoop in and pull something else down because you rob Peter the pay Paul to improve some other aspect of the club. I think we’ve said what we can say about Jazz. I just think out of all these guys I mentioned before about the lefty bats that are tradable, I wouldn’t trade Ben Rice. I think Jazz honestly is the most likely to go next to Jason. Jason won, Jazz 2, but Jason’s his own thing. But let me just go back to the lineup again really quick and then we’ll wrap this all up chat. Um, just take what Brian Cashman said. Forget jazz for a second. Just what he just said there about all the ins and outs of a potential trade. Big conversation, a lot of moving parts, and all of a sudden this position comes vacant. Excuse me. Like what position could you see that be in chat? Like let’s just freaking go through it. You know, let me bring my positional chart. Very good. DH Stanton is not going anywhere. Right. Field. I think he’s safe. Gisham can’t get traded till the 15th of June. Qualifying offer restrictions and I don’t want to trade him. Jason maybe, but he’s also weird. Forget for the fact of what we put out what we just said about own individual thing. And also like if Bellinger comes back, it’s like he’s in left field anyway. Whatever. Short stop. It’s Vulp or Cababiro. Cabier till Vulpi’s back. And it sounds like Vulpi won’t be out that long until actually no. Cash said May. Forget that. McMahon. You could see him going. I think Jazz is getting traded, chat. Now, I’m not necessarily rooting for it. I’m not rooting for it at all. But if it’s because the Yankees acquire could tell Marte and you can’t have two second baseman, then yes, I am rooting for it or something along those lines. Again, Wells, I don’t think it’s traded. And then with Rice, like I don’t know what what deal chat would would make sense to to ship Rice out in. I don’t know. I think it’s freaking fascinating, chat. I think it’s I think we got some good stuff from Cashman tonight, yo. And those under here, like I lean optimistic. I get to do stuff about this stuff. I love all the ins and outs and just kind of the whole chess vibe of this whole thing. Especially now that we’re into the offseason, into the winter meetings. When the time comes at the Yankees, and this is possible, disappoint me, I’m going to react then. Like, you know, I have in the lineup with no further offseason moves. Like, I don’t think that’s going to be the case. But if that is the case, like I will react and be pissed at this lineup in February. Not right now. For right now, there’s possibility. There’s a I see the light, chat. I see the light. Um, so again, just to wrap this all up, yo, also at the bottom, we didn’t address this, but if anybody cares what you I liked hearing this, I already knew it, but like Yankees never made an offer to Deon Williams. Brian Cash confirmed that today. And Chris Rose is putting question for Baseball today on Thursday’s show. Uh, or whatever it was, Wednesday or Tuesday’s show. Uh, what does it mean to think keep losing star free agents to the Mets? Rose. Anyways, big show coming tomorrow for baseball today, by the way. Um, so yeah, put a bow on it all. Brian Cashman definitively says we’re too left-handed. Need to get more right-handed. Says the rotation, he’s not comfortable with it right now cuz Cole’s out till at least May. Pro possibly SL probably June or probably SL possibly June. Cole says May. Conservatively Yankees say June. Rodon early May. And that’s not even counting for the rest of the rotation possibly getting hurt as well. Knock on wood. Um, and the bullpen we knew they would kind of take care of, but Cash did say externally they’ll most likely have to go to address that. So, he laid it out there today, chat. But again, I think the most interesting thing is him saying the lineup, the position players, this like forget about Ballinger. This Bellinger was saying just this is set in theory. in theory and I just I don’t want to [ __ ] say not I told you so because I’m not that kind of guy I couldn’t give a [ __ ] [ __ ] about that. I care about the Yankees winning. This is about me being right or wrong but in an exciting way because I just like I’m just like I [ __ ] knew it chat but I can’t say it yet. I can’t say it yet, man. I can’t say it yet. But I just telling you I’m freaking telling him yo something is happening. Maybe not right now but I just this I feel this off is going to be funky. So, and if it is, I’ll just kill myself, chat. And you’ll never see me again. Just kidding. I actually I thought tonight was a good was a good night, chat. I thought it was. Um, maybe I’ll pull you guys up really quick. Let me get your thoughts. Um, see how you guys can freaking bring down my optimism and tell me, Dan, you’re so freaking pessimistic, dude. Or no, see how you guys optimistic. I just heard my own voice. I’m going to [ __ ] Just kidding. All righty. Yo, Dan, there’s no way Bellinger could be the only offensive move. Must get a new starting catcher or third baseman. So, that’s something that we’ve been discussing since the beginning of the offseason. Like, I’m with you is what I’m saying. And a lot of people have been saying that, which is at first why when we offered Grising offer, then he accepted, I was like, yo, this could be a good thing cuz this could be a guarantee. We’re getting a second move outside of Bellinger. Well, now I want third. that third. The only possibility of that happening if or offseason offensively is and again put Rosar to the side and I want to bring him back whatever for now. Obviously Gish’s back if they were to sign Bellinger. Okay. The only way a third move happens is if one of those guys we discussed gets traded. Wells, Jazz, McMahon Rice. Hell no. Not going to happen. I think I’m wearing a freaking Ben Rice shirt right now, dog. Yeah. What’s good? Yeah. I’m not like a [ __ ] Benroyce fanboy or nothing. By the way, I just shopjboydia.com below. Um, so yeah. And I’ll tell you, man, I think it’s going to happen. I think it’s going to freaking happen. I’m going to leave on this screen for a minute. Give me, yo, if you had a gun to your head, one of these five going, don’t tell me Jason, cuz Jason doesn’t count. You know what I’m saying? Um then he would be a good game uh big game hunting for a redhead hitter or looking for platoon type bats. I think they definitely like I’m Rosario. But the way Cashman was talking tonight having Rosario pinch it for Ryan McMahon. One, it’s honestly not even the best thing. like Rosario being the patoon with McMahon because it’s like yo if Ryan McMahon’s not gonna be playing defense late like what is he cuz he’s not good against righties anyways he’s really bad against lefties he’s freaking great against righties like McMahon is in there for his defense and then if we’re talking pinch hitting for McMahon like forget the batoon starting against left for Zar that’s one thing but like we’re pinching Rosario late for McMahon it’s like yo I in a close tight game, especially come playoffs. Like I want McMahon’s defense in there in the ninth innings. Like that already doesn’t feel [ __ ] great, but that’s whatever. That’s whatever. Like that’s not the way Cash was talking tonight. Just signing Rosar to be a pinch or platoon player with McMahon at third base against lefties. Like that doesn’t exactly like scratch that itch the way he was talking. And I’m not saying my itch cuz I got a lot of those chat. I’m talking about for Cashman. for those that heard him tonight yell like I think he had a coffee before he showed up like he was in a good mood and he he was laying it out there. He said we are too left-handed. We need to get more right-handed. I mean Rosar is like not really I don’t think fulfills that desire that he has. So I’m I’m paying attention. I’m paying attention. Um did I hit the gym today? Of course I did, John. Did chess today. It was actually a really good gym day today. Yo, I was freaking sick last week, but I’m all good now. I’m all good now. Better than ever. Um, let me see here. Let me go back to this screen. Uh, package heal Vulpi Dominguez. Uh, and get a difference maker. Well, Vulpi definitely doesn’t have any value. Jason does. Heal less value than last year. I think they hold on to him, but I’m not against trading heel. The reason I whisper that is because he follows Yanks on Instagram, but no big deal. Um, to this day I still believe they should have traded for Kabrian Hayes instead of back in the deadline. He’s a right-handed hitter. I can’t really argue that to be honest. No, I love McMahon because McMahon’s defense is so good. So good. But like what would my point be back to argue against the Yankees should have trade for Gabrian Hayes? Now I’m just going to assume I know Cabrian Hayes’s defense is really good. I can’t imagine as good as McMahon’s like McMahon is just a [ __ ] vacuum over there. He’s just like like dude like this. I remember seeing this play and I was like I remember Dan Marc text me being like that boy could play third. I know it’s like that too with KB Hayes but like I mean he can’t be much worse than McMahon offensively. Although I think he is maybe doesn’t have as much power but he’s a right-handed bat so it’s like I could argue that too much. Um hey what up Leaf? Leaf sends in $5 super chat. Appreciate you brother cuz hope all is well my guy. Uh we might get one of those we might trade one of those names we did not expect. need belly my two belly of my two right-handed bats two pen also just sent you a DM on insta I’ll try to see it uh later leave was it on Yanks I’m terrible with freaking like DMs and and whatnot but uh you’re my guy leave appreciate you um Richie Torres says uh with a super chat appreciate you Richie says you want to do something crazy send Jazz Spencer Dominguez to Texas to get Deg Grom/Seaker well Deg Grom won’t happen he has a no trade he doesn’t want to go back to New York that’s why he left the Mets he doesn’t want go back to New York. But um you know, Seager is interesting. You guys know I like Seager. You know I like Seager. What did you put in this? You said So, you know what’s interesting about Jazz? I could totally see him being like not like the Stling Cash or the Stanton deal because for Jazz be more of like Well, no. I mean, not to a degree. It’s like the Jazz is so much better than Solen Cash. I don’t disrespect him about like that, but it’s like say he were to pull off a deal for Seager, which I know some people aren’t down for Seager, but if you’re down to give Bellinger freaking six years, I mean, basically the same thing with Cory Seager, by the way. Um, who’s better, but whatever. Say the deal were to be in place of like I don’t know if I want to send them all that. You said Jazz, Spencer, and Jason to Texas. I would send him Spencer Art. No problem. Spencer, I would send him they need like middle to back in the rotation. Like I would send him Will Warren or Luis Heel. Um, and part of this would be, you know, taking on the money. If it were a thing of like Texas still wants to like compete because they still have Deg Grom in his prime and whatnot and it’s like give us jazz type thing to like complete the deal. Like maybe that could be a situation like that. Or again, like hope Ryan Cohen’s not listening. Like if a Tatis deal were to be a thing, like you send him a a deal back to one, like offset the amount of money you’re taking back in with Tatis or Seager with Texas, whatever it may be. And it kind of keeps them like it gives them like a major league, really good major league player to still be like contending. So it’s like for a team that’s like selling and shedding payroll, but doesn’t want to isn’t like gutting their entire team and like gutting their entire expectations for the following season, the coming season. You know what I’m saying? Um, and this is all assuming like, yo, if you were to trade Jazz, I’m assuming that means Yankees aren’t aren’t really planning on signing him long term. Now, obviously, you know, he’s a you could do the Chapman thing, but we should not bank on that ever really being the case. Um, hey, Brandon with a $5 super chat. Appreciate Brennan says, “Love the offseason stream, my guy.” Um, I got to stop freaking sluring my words. I’m just all I’m excited. Um, love the offseason streams, my guy. Who do you like better, trading for Sandy or signing King? I’m glad you mentioned that, Brendan, and thank you again. Um, so Sandy is interesting. I’ll be like, “Yo, word.” Sandy Alcantara finished the year really strong. Um, at the very least, first year back from Tommy John, like got it through got through it healthy and he finished the year well. I mean, that’s almost good enough for me to be like, at the very least, I’m on board. Michael King, I I I like Michael King a lot. thing is though like how much are we talking Kings getting and the reason I mentioned that is because like it won’t be that much for King what was the projection again when we talked about it was like somewhere saying he might get like 75 over three that 25 mil a year. Yeah. Um like I’m I love Michael King, but if the logic at least from what Jack Curry says is if the export require starter he sees it more so going the trade route rather than starting or the signing a free agent is that the thought process because you think the Yankees don’t want to spend the money on a free agent which if that’s the case like or like for Tatsuya they’re not going to sign Tatsumi is it strictly just a price thing because if so like then they’re they’re out on king too. Um, my personal preference, honestly, that’s a good question. Just pitcher to pitcher. I do think I lean Michael King, but I know a lot of people are going to be like, “Oh, definitely Michael King.” It It is close for me. And had Sandy not finished the year as strong as he did, it’d be not close. You know, I’ll go King because the Yankees could use some some strikeouts right now. I’d rather get the strikeout pitcher than not. Um but yo, good question. I appreciate you, Brendon. Um let me go back to the live chat and then we’ll get out of here. Yo, um let me see. Let me go back just the uh Cashman quotes. Um see there’s anything else I want to ask your guys’ opinion on. Uh bullpen. I don’t really feel like talking bullpen unless and you guys have like a certain thought and not cuz No, I just I don’t really like talking about bullpen because actually I I trust the bullpen. I just do. I think they’ll take care of it. And I kind of have to react. Like there’s so many relievers out there and relievers are so freaking irritating because like one year they’re good, the next year they’re ass. I don’t know anything about football, but like the comparison always makes the most sense to me. Like they’re like running backs. They just freaking one year they’re, you know, and then the next year they’re just like fat. But uh yeah, Bellinger, not talking about him again until he signs, which I hope he does. I hope he does again. and Tatsuya my man I think to a degree the optimism towards possibility Yankees signing him took a hit today but I’m not negative about it because it it came in a night where I found out the Yankees it sounds like are going to address the rotation and I’ll tell you man that quote from Cashman about where he said the idea of Coen Rodon being healthy at some point and Clark too like having too many healthy starting pitchers like that’s not going to prevent him from addressing the rotation. Like that was big to hear. And then hearing him say this is almost like an over the show type thing. It’s like this something a fan would say. Cash said like, well, why don’t we just go to the bullpen? But again, that’s more to me like Will Warren or Luis Heel or like in some weird instance scenario where Cam Slitter’s an option in that regard as well too. I think Cam Slers in Sai Young next year. Um, half kidding, but I’m very excited about him. Um, what up Bronx? How you doing, brother? Uh, yeah, I’m down for Robert Suarez word. Uh, sign Hassan Kim platoon with McMahon and he can play Georgeville back also upside if he’s good. Cheeto, I don’t know if you were in my stream the other day, but we talked about Hassan Kim. Um, I’ll pull up his page really quick. Man, we’ve really built up a freaking stack of just every player I’ve ever considered this off seasonason. I have a player page for. Um, you guys want to talk? You want to talk JT or You want to talk terrace scubble? You want to talk freaking, you know, I got everybody. You want to talk Cory Blanco. No, but no. Um, Hassan Kim. Yes. This is interesting. There’s no rumor. Can I say this? I’m just It’s like money would play a role in this, but I’ll tell you, I’d rather sign Hassan Kim over Rosario. And I like Rosario. So, no disrespect to him. I thought he was awesome. Good vibes guy. And he hit lefties. He did do his job in that regard. He did. But Hassan Kim, all right, you sign him. That’s like a weird little rhyme. All right, he he plays short till Vulpy’s coming back. And not to mention like he is a legitimate big league shortstop. So it’s like, yo, Vulpi, he’s going to be on your ass, brother. But okay, let’s just say Vulpi comes back after a month and Kim now is a bench player. Well, now he can become a strict legit platoon with McMahon at third. He hits lefties. Career 119 WRC plus against lefties. and you’d actually like not be [ __ ] holding your nuts every time a ground ball hit the third base, which in fairness, Rosario actually like was pretty fine over there, but that was a small sample size. Ultimately, like Rosaro is not that great a third baseman. Kim though, while down here defensively this past season, but it was a weird year for him. Um, I later looked it up. It was a shoulder surgery he had. It was a funky ear for him. He would feel you would feel good about him at third base defensively like replacing McMahon and he hits lefties. I mean, and you just play him against a lefty platoon like he’d be the straight up platoon with McMahon once once Vulpi comes back. So, I’m down for that. Yo, I’m down for that. Trust me, brother. Trust me. Um, what do I think about Victoria Vodnik? Honestly, I have no idea who that is, Zach, but I’m down. Kim is a really weak short though. Is he though, Dan, or was it just this past season? because my philosophy is, and this is just a me thing, um, forget him coming off like that shoulder injury or not, and it just being again a weird year, um, when it’s one year defensive metrics, unless they’re like of old age, like Kim’s 30, um, I won’t put too much stock into out of average or defensive run save in one year when they starkly contrast what it suggested prior. Not that it’s wrong, but it’s more so like I would trust a ground ball being hit to Hassan Kim still, you know what I mean? Um, and I appreciate the defensive metrics like they did. He was always considered a really good defender. Um, but yeah, we’ll see. I I’m interested in him. Uh, Trey McMahon and have prospects for Donovan playing him at third base. And that’s the thing about Donovan, which is that sucks that he’s a lefty, although like you know, years ago I was obsessed with Donovan in part because he was a lefty, but um he does play everywhere. He plays second. Uh I remember reading like he or he he played a a good little bit at shortstop this past season, too. Um I don’t know. I mean, I wouldn’t be shocked if he plays there. Maybe he is. I’ll take your word for it, but I know he also plays the outfield, too. he was a plus outfielder or plus uh def defender in left. So you could almost like just get Donovan regardless. So say you were to miss out on Bellinger, you could get Donovan. Um although he doesn’t have as much power as I would like, but um I like Donovan a lot. It’s just the only thing is he is left-handed and he doesn’t hit lefties. Um which sucks, but yeah. Um can we get Luis Roberts? Uh I mean he’s a straightup center fielder. I mean, he would be more of an option if had we not uh brought Gisham back, which I’ll tell you rather have Gisham than than Luis Robert. Although I know Robert’s right-handed. Um like on a real note, Dan, what do you think it will take these to just ship Vulp off? Um I he just asked this year. I think that’s pretty much it. if he’s ass by the time Lumbard is emerging, which is not going to be until like 2026 or I’m dude time’s flying. It’s crazy. Like this is this 2025 already passed till 2027. Let’s say if Lombard were to be ready to emerge then and Vulpi’s ass this year. See you later. You guys want to see something funny? By the way, I’m in a I’m in 2030. Donov can play third base. He won utility gold glove. I know he won utility gold glove. I just don’t know how good his defensive metrics are at third base, but I’ll take word for it. And if there’s any rumors, we’ll we’ll discuss it. Let’s take a picture of you. You guys want to see something funny? So, I’m in u my you guys know I do my Sim franchise and that will be the show. Um I’m in 2030 and I finally won the World Series in 2029. Um speaking of Vulpi, now it’s freaking video game. And this is the mode I don’t play. I just do S. I do hardcore simmon. To put it in perspective, I’m I’m at 2030 right now. Uh, and I was playing for a good like probably a good like at least hour and a half, two hours and I got through the first half of a season. I’m like doing I go very in depth with it. Anyways, can you see that? Is that focusing? Can you see that? You can’t freaking see that. What the heck? Let me just read it to you. I need you to be able to see it. Oh, Padre signed Vulp to 10ear $351 million deal. Must be my bright ass lights I have over here. They’re just desk lamps. Anyways, yo. Um, I appreciate you guys being here. This is a fun stream. Um, let’s uh let’s do it again tomorrow, man. Let’s do it again tomorrow. Uh, we’ll almost definitely be live tomorrow. Hopefully get some rumors, some news, something to discuss, and ideally over the next week or so, maybe by the time the winter meetings conclude on Wednesday, because it usually is the case for the Yanks, an actual move will be completed. That’d be hype. We’re getting there. At some point, something’s going to happen and I cannot wait. So, um Oh, am I going to talk about Mattie not making the hall? Uh I was all ready for it. I was all ready for it. Um I was ready for it, man. I was ready for it. Now, it’s not my place to speak on it because if you’re somebody of the camp that Don Mattingley should be in the Hall of Fame, you’re somebody who watched and played, which I did not do. Um, I’ll tell you, I did watch the um MLB Network Don Mattingly documentary. It’s on YouTube a couple days ago. I put it on the community page and it was freaking awesome. Like, Don Matting is a dog and I know I would have loved him. you know, talk about him like he’s dead, but like for those that are not that common around here, like don’t come here that often. I love my Yankees to act a certain way. And I love just like the like I want every button buttoned up. I like this the like Doris Simon said like you wear the pinstripe, you put the pinstripes on, you wearing tradition, you’re wearing pride, wear it the right way and just everything about Don Madding from the way they described it, it seems like somebody I would have been [ __ ] obsessed with. Go figure. And it’s like the same way, not to be causing generational beef here or nothing, but like before Judge was a lock for the Hall of Fame, it’d be the same for those that watch Madly growing up. Like I would love Judge will be in the Hall of Fame. He’s about to clip 7 War like next year, but um sorry. Like I know how much this means to people, yo. So like I was I was hyped. I was ready to go. I had to grab Freddy on the next day. Like I would have been celebrating just cuz like freaking awesome dude. Um, and he was many people’s like judge for me. So, like I wish he got in and I was bummed when he didn’t. He only got six votes. Uh, needed 12. Um, and last time he was on he got eight. So, he lost voting or lost votes. Uh, you know what I mean? When I’m the way I’m describing it, though, cuz it’s like obviously like I think some people like if I just look at these stats right here, which is all I can do, which is why I’m I said I’m not speaking on it’s not my place. If I like just look at these stats right here, like that’s not a Hall of Famer. With that said though, what I can be honest is there are players that I could do the same thing with that are in the Hall of Fame and make that same case. I do wish he got in. I do wish he got in. Um he still has another chance though, right? He he remains in the val on the ballot. Steroid guys though, they got freaking banged again though. Um [ __ ] on. Never wanted to work for the Yankees. What are you talking about? Omstrizzy are you talking about Don Madalie? What do you mean everyone wanted to work for the Yankees? Is that because of the long hair thing? It seemed pretty reasonable to me. It was what do you have like a relatively long mullet and like there’s other guys that had like longer hair and D matting always went about his business the right way and they were like kind of going at him and he was just like man [ __ ] this type thing. He’s like a good ass guy so like I I I don’t want to speak on player I didn’t actually watch but um anyways. Oh, word up. So AC Yanks says, “Uh, Dan, I’m pretty sure Donovan is plus eight defensive run save when playing third base.” I mean, I love Donovan. So, music to my ears. Music to my ears. I just couldn’t verify that based on my own prior um thing. Anyways, I’m going to get out of here. Yo, I see you AC. I see you. Oh, judge first. No doubt. Um, I’m going to get out of here, chat. Appreciate you guys. See you tomorrow. Um, fingers crossed, yo. To a big move coming. Let’s go Yanks.

Yanks should rebuild
I agree he wants to sign a pitcher but through a trade. He did not seem to be interested to be dealing with boras. His reaction spoke volumes
Good stuff, thanks
53 minutes of a yankees fan twisting himself in a pretzel to convince himself that the Yankees are gonna go big this off-season lmao
The winter meetings tonight were over drinks at the bar most def.
Sign Alonso
Dominguez is as much of a switch hitter as a plumber.
Get Cashman drunk so he can sign big game free agents and spend money like a drunken sailor
