The Lions interior of their defensive line has become a strength with McNeill, Williams, Reader and Lopez

DJ Reader is the 2nd most tripped player in the NFL
McNeill has been the most doubled player in the NFL since he came back

The rookie has quietly graded out like a top-20
DT over the past two months.

  1. Fairly surprised. That’s a good thing. Even though PFF isn’t the end all, be all.

  2. I feel like he’s had an overall positive rookie season. I don’t think k he’s been mind blowing but there’s times where he’s stood out and I think his season 2 should be good.

  3. He’s been solid but up an down like a typical rookie. I know the plan is to likely let Reader walk and Tyliek takes his spot full time but hoping we keep Reader for Atleast one more year.

  4. I mean the eye test says that he’s been really solid in run D, but (to his credit, typical for a rookie) pretty 1 dimensional otherwise. McNeill atleast gives you something in the pass rush as well.

  5. I think it’ll be interesting if he follows Alim’s lead and works on transforming his body this offseason. Tyliek is a load against the run, he anchors remarkably well, but he doesn’t have the burst to consistently impact the passing game. Dropping a bit of weight and some focused strength training could do a body good, like it did with Alim.

  6. He’s been very solid, but we did not need another big run stuffing DT more than an another edge, C or guard. Bad draft pick by Holmes.

  7. But….but…..I thought this whole draft was a bust because Brad didn’t draft an O-Line? SOL fans need to get their accounts deleted.

  8. Weird because QBs have all day to throw on us, maybe he’s good against the run.

  9. Our rush defense has improved a lot this season vs last season. Still not as good as 2023 but its up there.

    2024: 4.5 yards/carry ranked 22nd

    2023: 3.7 yards/carry ranked 3rd
