Detroit Pistons sit atop the Eastern Conference at 19-5
unwavering belief that we can, right? Like we’ve been in so many of these games um where, you know, they’re close and tight down the stretch and our guys have consistently been able to figure out a way to win it. Um you know, we were, it’s funny, we were having the conversation and they were talking about how much they like it and to play in these games, in these types of games. Um and I told them they were crazy. I like it if we were winning by 20. Uh, but like they do they they cherish the moment to do something big when it matters most. Um, and I got to give them a ton of credit. They’re able to pull it out. Pistons had four of those games this week alone. They won three of them. And it is stunning. I went back to look at the schedule. I’m like, “Oh, yeah. That was one. That was one. That was one.” Going back weeks. I mean, they have played so many tight games. And they’re winning the games that they were losing in years past that are decided in the final two minutes by a couple plays here and a couple plays there. And to win on the second night of a backto-back in sort of gritty, grimy fashion personifies JB Bicker Staff’s Pistons. And obviously Kade doing Kade things. But how about Isaiah Stewart chipping in what, 19 points and hitting three threes and Jaden Ivy hit two threes early in the fourth quarter. He shot the ball so well from three before getting hurt last season. If he can find that stroke again, it it pushes this team ceiling even higher. And I think what Burchie’s touching on there is, yeah, Kate is the centerpiece when they get late in the game, but there’s so many other guys on this team that chip in with timely baskets and you never know who it’s going to be. There are, but I like the flip side of that because what have we said before this year? Okay, but Cade’s got to take over in the fourth quarter when you need to win those games. And last year, people were trying to say he’s not a clutch guy. He’s not. Now he is taking over in the I think he’s second in the league behind Giannis in fourth quarter points. And I forget which game it was. They’re all about the same. He did a little twisting reverse layup to to seal the game, four-point lead. And he does that a lot. And to me, the Dur all that stuff is great. No doubt about it. But we needed to see Kade be the fourth quarter killer guy, right? He’s been a fourth quarter killer guy. You know how we know Jaylen Duran has taken a step possibly into stardom is that last night 16 points, 16 rebounds, and you’re like, “Yeah.” Yeah. Yeah. That’s just that’s just kind of what you expect out of him now. Like he he has set a really high standard, a really high bar for himself, and he continues to meet it or exceed it almost every single night. And he’s only 22 years old. 21 22 and a throw. It’s unbelievable. What were we doing at 20 21 years old? I was trying to get myself back into the bars that I’ve been kicked out. He’s got 16 points, 16 rebounds. We had 16 ounces. That’s about it. 16 times. Yeah, it was it was it was a lot different. Uh but it is fun to watch this team develop. Let me get to the wing.
