Let’s grade the last five San Francisco 49ers first round picks excluding Mike Williams in the 2025 draft. We’ll start off with Ricky Persol who was the 31st overall pick in the 2024 draft. At the time it felt like they didn’t really need a receiver with Jawan Jennings, Brandon IU. This is looking like a smart pick so far. This year he’s been off to a great start when he’s been healthy and looks like he could be a viable pass catcher for Brock Pery or maybe M. Jones for the long term in San Fran. And then we got to go back to the 2021 draft where they traded three first round picks to move up to pick number three to select Trey Lance, the quarterback out of North Dakota State. This would be an F or an F minus given what you had to give up to acquire the third overall pick to take Tre Lance who started four games for you in his career. 797 yards in his San Francisco 49ers career. They had two first round picks in the 2020 draft. At pick 14, they selected Javon Kinwa out of South Carolina for his 49ers tenure. I’m giving this one a D. Kinwell was never that great nose tackle for them over the first four years of his career in San Fran, but they did a lot better with their other first round pick, which was Brandon Iayuk, the 25th overall pick out of Arizona State. This was a late firstrounder and I has been a wide receiver one at times for the 49ers. I’m giving this one an A. I know we kind of forget how good I is because it’s been over a year since we’ve seen him on the field as he’s still recovering from that ACL tear. And lastly, they had the second overall pick in the 2019 draft. They selected Nick Bosa, the edge rusher out of Ohio State. This one’s an A+. Bosa has been one of the best edge rushers and just overall defenders in the NFL since he’s been drafted.

  4. Do 3rd-6th rounders. The 49ers find gem after gem there. Fred Warner, Talanoa Hufunga, George Kittle, Brock Purdy, Dre Greenlaw, Deommedore Lenoir, Jujuan Jennings; the team should just trade away their 1st round picks for more later round picks.

Honestly, Trey Lance never really got to Play in the NFL and it’s a Damn Shame because he shouldn’t have been a 3rd Overall Pick and even he Admits it, and he just gets a Bad Wrap simply for being Drafted one pick ahead of Kyle Pitts, like I understand it’s a Disappointment but F- is really like Harsh to be Honest because he’s Never really been given a Chance to Start, but it got me thinking what if Davis Mills was Drafted 3rd overall and Trey Lance fell to 89th Overall?

  7. The thing about the Lance pick is that everyone wiffed on QB’s that year.

    Lawrence has been a shadow of what he was expected to be.

    Wilson was a disaster, an even bigger one in trade value than Lance.

    Lance.

    Young has been the bane of two franchises.

    And Jones, while decent, doesn’t look like he’d ever be the player who would justifiably be taken 2nd overall. Had the 9ers taken him 16th with their original pick that would have been great, but he wasn’t their at 16 IRL.

    It was a QB hungry league with an absolute ocean of over-hyped QB’s. Don’t trade up during a pandemic.

  10. How can Aiuk be an A , picking a draft is based on talent and attitude, he gets a big F in attitude, terrible contract
    Terrible management by lynch and Shanahan for lots of drafts but you guys never seem to call them out

Id put aiyuk as a B because when he came in he didnt want to block he wanted to be a diva so he was put in the dog house… it was only after he changed his me mentality that it changed but even after that he got paid and still is being a dick listening to his baby momma and brother instead of people in the business
